Very friendly staff especially Kerry & Brenda in Dining Room. I love this heritage building and will stay again. The only tiny complaint I had were the dinner's - they should be of a higher standard, less salt, more good veggies - cut down on the potatoes and add good greens, and some good beet salads. Otherwise all power to your Chef - I know he works hard to please. Brkfasts v good. |

It is a grand building and has been done up very well, it has a fresh feel about it. Room nice with flat screen TV, good lighting, and large openable window. The location next to the railway station was good. Very good breakfast and second helpings no problem. I'd recommend not to stay there when they have a group in because the place was very crowded and the noise from the disco went on until midnight. Take a room on the third floor to lessen the problem. |

The location was convenient, the room comfortable, and the reception staff efficient and friendly. The english breakfast was poor. It was not available until 30 minutes after the advertised time, the tomatoes were tinned, no fried bread, no mushrooms, and only egg option was scrambled. |

The central location, good free parking and value for money. The front of the hotel is very noisy. In addition there was a rattling noise all night sounding as though part of the roof was loose. We were transferred to a much improved room for the following night. |

The hotel staff were the friendliest I have ever met in any hotel. The bar staff and restaurant staff were welcoming and sociable throughout our stay! The rooms were dated and the plumbing in both bathroom sink and shower was very problematic. |

I like the traditional feel of the hotel with its lovely old candelabras, design of the lobby and beautiful suites that would be good for business events/ training sessions. It is easy to find and despite being next to the railway station and on a busy road we did not once hear any evidence of trains or traffic. The staff are unaware of numbers of guests coming to the hotel and any special packages particularly in the restaurants. Items on the menu were out of date. Disorganised, staff badly need training, breakfast was removed 20 mins before end of breakfast period. Left feeling up tight instead of being relaxed - the intention of going there in the first place! |

Reasonable pricing, high cleanliness standards of cleanliness, relaxed atmosphere, consistently good breakfast, Staff polite, considerate, affable and helpful. The whole very conveniently situated for city centre business or leisure visits or a combination of both. It was my view that at the hotel bar Worthingtons draught bitter might usefully be replaced or complemented by a lighter bodied and less creamy bitter such as Mansfields - especially given that Guiness is also served there. |

we loved the building - It was old and full of history . Also the position of the hotel was good - very close to the train station and to the shops and museums. The breakfasts were only ok but the staff made up for it by their friendliness! |

The hotel had improved since the new owners took over. There was a smell in the room (126) and the quality of the breakfast could have been better, plus improved faciliites for making toast. |

The staff are excellent! Stayed for my son's Graduation (City Hall and the University), the Deep and Shopping, very central. Catered for me, Mum and one of my teenage sons No soap in dispenser for shower, only one hand towel for twin room, besides two bath towels. Otherwise very clean twin and single rooms. |
