This hotel is in a great location. It is right next to the train station and just opposite the best shopping in hull. The. Hotel and room were large and warm. The service in this hotel particularly at the bar were not great. Though it was party season so maybe the staff had been a little stretched.

It was conveniently located to the main shopping area of the town centre. The decor and furnishings are in need of a revamp.

I have seen it for years but never stayed there. The external design is classical . It is perfect for someone arriving by train. It is central but also convenient for taxis to the university. The breakfast was good.Staff were excellent and advised about best taxis. The external telephone line did not work..not repaired when reported within the 36 hours. There was no waste bin in the main room, only a small one in the bathroom. Some noise of neighbours' bath water and other residents through the walls. Double glazing would cut the noise of people shifting barrels or heavy goods outside. Otherwise excellent

Friendly, very clean and relaxed atmosphere. Rooms were to a high standard well maintained, have recommended it to friends and will definitely stay there again, only next time might stay for two nights as 1 was not enough. Fire alarm woke us up very early only to find out it was a fault with alarm.

We enjoyed our stay at the mercure royal very much. The rooms werecomfortable and well serviced. There was some confusion when we checked out as we were charged again for breakfast which we had already paid for in cash at booking in.however it was eventually sorted out. As four women staying on our own we were made to feel very welcome.we are already planning our next trip and will be staying at the mecure royal!

I came to Hull to attend my Great Niece's wedding, what a marvellous hotel for a wedding. The hotel staff were so helpful and friendly. The wedding breakfast was superb, the room was decorated to perfection. The entertainment was good and it was great to meet other members of the family and the bridegroom's family. After a very tiring journey from Worthing to Hull I couldn't have asked for anything better than to be in a hotel so close to the coach station. Altogether a very enjoyable stay.

Great central location and lovely building. The interior of the hotel was very clean. I found the ladies toilets in the bar area a little dated. More attention could have been paid to the area around the entrance, someone had been sick by the steps, this wasn't cleaned up all weekend and there were bits of litter blowing around the area. I didn't like having to walk past the smokers gathered on the steps.

Just the feeling that I was in a hotel with some style and comfort - a notch up from budget - and getting value for money Couldn't log on to the Wifi very easily. This could have been a fault with my phone.

The location was ideal and the room was good. Breakfast was awful. Some of the food was overcooked because of the heat from the warming lights. Coffee was the worst ever - weak, water with a hint of coffee. Fresh fruit bar was poor and very little choice. The grapefruit tasted like it came out of a can - would have expected it to be freshly prepared. All for £8!
