Score from 85 reviews Very good
noisy corridors- pub meal quality
staff very helpful
cleanliest of room.
Excellently located just off the A1 Quiet Location Nice Room Excellent Value
Good hotel and well located
room at the end of corridor and was v chilly, shower weak pressure
Leaving. The manager trying his best.
Staff, 4ft beds, run down pool area with sauna out of order, flies in the rooms, tv not working to name but a few.
We found it difficult to locate - and it doesn't look impressive outside, but once inside it was fine.
The cleaner barging in at 10:00 on a Sunday morning asking what time we are leaving?! A first for me....
The carpet in the room looked as though it had not been hoovered ad there were bits on the floor.
Booked two nights. The hotel is set out in a square shape with long corridors. We were 250 metres? from reception. Reception staff unhelpful. All phones removed from rooms, so if a complaint or anything urgent had to walk to reception. There was an issue with the tv so had to walk to reception. A wedding was being held on Saturday but took over the planning on Friday, restaurant not open on time and moved and then treated like an inconvenience. On Saturday returned to find wedding guests taken over the whole reception area and then when enquiring about the restaurant told not to bother coming in till 7.30 because they had a tour group in and we would have to wait. Then we arrived were offered dried up left overs from the tour group in the food warmer. then difficult to actually get a meal cooked and service poor. Need to decide whether they want to be a hotel of function centre as it appears they can't do both.
I booked this hotel as we took my partners son to York University from Surrey. Receptionist was really friendly room was a good size clean and comfortable. Restaurant staff exceptional. My daughter loved the pool. Recommend this hotel as it was such good value for money
Room a bit chilly nothing else.
Cheap accommodation. Friendly Staff. Availability of rooms at short notice for 3 rooms.
Very tiny rooms with small bed. We had a cot in the room which meant there was no room either side of the bed due to lack of space. No fridge in the room.
Modern decorated bedroom
Felt like I was staying in 'the shining. Musty smelling and tired. Full of coach trips. Fitness suite is a cupboard with some weights machines and pool in need of renovation.
Whilst Room 244 was generally clean, the shower walls required re-grouting as the spaces were black !! I had to request a large towel and bath mat on the first night. The plug was missing in the sink and one was not available in reception and was not installed during my visit.
Having a pool to use, friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant reception area.
The double room was a zipped together twin. The carpets were sticky. The paintwork was flaky. The bathroom was dated, the whole place looks tired and I was afraid of catching something in the pool. Sound travelled way too easily into the room from half way down the corridor. The gym is four rickety machines in a small stale sweat smelling room. It looks like the Bates Motel, but scarier.
plenty of well lit, parking space. Friendly receptionist on arrival. Welcoming reception area. Clean and comfortable sleep in a room which smelt pleasant. Clean bath (shower) room. Friendly and help full receptionist on departure.
the 'hike' from reception to my room was slightly un-nerving so late at night (although well lit all the way)
Staff we're very helpful and friendly, bed was comfortable although on the small size, breakfast was basic but ample for our needs
The room size was very small I had booked a regular double but it looked more like a small double ok for my visit this time but not if my stay was to be any longer It was also one of the furthest rooms which was a long way for my disabled husband to walk Also the offer of £3 off if breakfast was booked in advance was not honoured even though I had booked in advance with booking.com...I feel this offer should be advised when booking the room
The room was comfortable and spacious. Tea & Coffee provided The hotel is excellently located for the towns in the area
The entrance and exit road (and car park) is very 'pot holed' and could do with re-surfacing
Cleanliness. Staff very friendly. Quiet.
Small double bed is really a large single. Only one chair, one bedside table and one bedside lamp. Extract fan not working in bathroom. No facilities to get anything to eat when arriving late. Perhaps a vending machine for snacks could be provided?
Location of the Hotel - Just off the A1 (& A63) The room was 'on par' with other leading hotel chains. The hotel is clean, tidy and quiet Set in a nice rural location - but conveniently close to major towns (Leeds, Selby, York)
Entrance and Exit roads to the hotel are a little 'pot holed' and could do with re-surfacing.
Room was good value,
Staff couldnt find my booking...took ages to find it. Had to ask which way to get to room! Bar menu was poor, after deciding to have a minute steak was told management decided not to do steaks anymore...THEN Why on menu!!
No taxi any where nearby stranded at the hotel ended up driving to the wedding party and it was just a nightmare , room freezing cold , bathroom in a poor condition , children running up and down screaming , in the morning still couldn't get a taxi some charging £25 to travel 6 mins , the TV had poor reception , would never stay here again
comfortable bed clean and quiet
Close to the friends we came to see
There wasn't anything we didn't like
Good attentive staff King was excellent
the staff were great and great to be able to have a swim in the morning
the hotel was clean throughout but the pool area and changing rooms could do with a refurb
