Newgate hotel was ok in its self. I had a few issues, the sheets had tea stains on them (looked unwashed) and the pillows had hairs on them too. Breakfast buffet was cold and not enough to cater for all customers. However when asked for extra they provided. Staff was really friendly and always willing to help. Room facilities were good, enough towels and tea/coffee services were ok. We were due to leave early Monday morning so we stayed in on Sunday night and watch a film on the TV in the room, it kept popping up with a sign to say the tv is going on stand by (we could not cancel this) and the cable kept being switched off too even though other channels were working. We was also woken up twice on Sunday around 2am and 5.30am, we was given no explaination for this or anything upon check-out. I would not visit this hotel again nor would i recomment to potential customers.

central location and parking facility. i was supprised that i had to pay cash for the stay on arrival. The noise was unreal on the friday night, the low room fees obviously attract the youngsters who's behaviour was shocking. i would not stay in the hotel in the future.

Very dated interior and could do with a good paint and freshen up, that said, if you are here for a night out and only want the basic sleeping facilities with car park, then this hotel is in a 5 star location, and is literally in the centre of all the nightlife. Romantic break with the wife - well not really, Weekend break with the lads (or lasses) - would be by No1 choice for the price

Location to city centre Run down in need of refurbishment. Minimal entertainment on small portable TV. Bathroom of poor design with minimal shelving, so you have width of a tile to store your toiletries. Poor shower in bath with curtain. No individual shampoo, shower gel etc. Toilet far too near the wall for someone with broad shoulders, you have to sit at an angle. You have to fill up kettle with a cup because it won't go under taps. No biscuits with coffee, tea. Car park hard to find coz not explained in advert for hotel. In a nutshell needs major facelift before its value for money probably worth ten poundd less a night.

Adored the funky lift arrangement - having the call button on one side of reception and the lift itself on the other, great fun running to get the lift before the doors closed!! Very Basil Fawlty!! Breakfast was excellent, superb value for money. Staff pleasant and helpful. We had made a request for a quiet room and this was given, water was beautifully hot, iron and ironing board in room as well as hairdryer, well stocked hospitality tray, more than made up for dated surroundings. Obviously in need of a major refurbishment - single glazed windows were running with condensation in the morning, and rattled dreadfully in the windy conditions outside, however in terms of value for money this was not a major issue.

Just the free car park in the town centre but not easy to find the car park you need to talk to the staff to direct you as the entrance to the car park is hidden away in the back in the busy traffic of the town centre . The hotal has not been updated since the seventies though and feels very tiered Very dated and neglected . Non of the lifts working and room was on the higher floors and breakfast was on the 6th floor . I do not think the owners are planning to run it for long as everything very much neglected even carpet in the rooms are masked with duct tap !!

Restaurant is located on 6th floor, we were on 1st however the only lift in the hotel was out of order, therefore not disabled friendly. Would be good if there was WiFI access in the room rather than just in the bar area located on the ground floor. Good size free car park, however not the easiest to find entrance too, would be good to provide instructions on the web site.

It was in city centre within walking distance of shops and attractions. Car parking available. Very dated, unattractive. Phoned hotel reception as I could not find the hotel; they could not give directions! Room extremely hot. Overlooking very noisy street - students partying all night. Very scruffy main entrance on busy street with no security.
