Not a lot. The breakfast was freshly prepared and okay.
The hotel was soulles. The room was freezing. Needed two extra heaters to make it bearable.
Too old building. Smelly carpet.
My room itself was clean and comfortable. The staff were working hard trying to look after an lot of disappointed people in an environment which was messy, wet and a challenge to everyone concerned.
I was looking forward to rest after a long working day in the gardens. I didn't like turning up at what was tantamount to the back door on a building site. I tried to find the website image and failed. Found lots of piles of builders rubble and trenches thought. This site is under massive reconstruction covering all areas. They need to be honest on the website so at least you are aware of what you are likely to face and can make an informed choice. Close it during work or radically drop the price stating.
Evening receptionist was friendly
Everything else was awful
Room was very spacious but cold. Asked for the heating to be put onand was informed it did not come on till 4pm!!! No heated towel rail in the bathroom so was constantly cold, to cold for a shower. Asked for extra heating appliances was given a convector heater.
Bathroom. No heating constantly freezing.
A place to lay your head after a busy Xmas day and evening. Very convenient visiting my daughter.
Did not like our room. It was supposed to be a double room but was a single room with a double bed. One side of the bed was up against a wall. Wardrobe was only big enough for one persons hanging clothes. Second time of using this hotel. Same issues both times. Would need reassurance this would not happen again if we chose to stay here in the future.
location - it was near where we were going out
Paying upfront. £5.00 deposit for room key. Bar closes at 9p on a Saturday! Got woken at 08:30 by hammering. Tatty place, needs a refurb.
Hotel dated in areas & rooms tired - in need a a much needed make over.
Not a lot really. It was clean
Wifi didn't work, meal in restaurant expensive for hardly any food, no condiments. Room next door had been painted our room stank. No heating. Shower took forever to warm up with no extraction. Shall not return
Attentive young staff. Comfortable Bed. Bath tub
Too expensive for its quality. Bathroom needed a serious improvement. WIFI signal and speed was horrible.
Bathroom was full of mould, bath didn't work only leaking shower. Room515
Nothing, except the pressure and flow of water for the bath, which filled in no time at all. This is probably the reason for the sodden carpet, as this is far too much for the restricted overflow on the bath and presumably a previous occupant left it running too long and turned their back
The place looks like a dump, smells like a dump, and is a dump. Room stank of damp, and when I took my shoes off I found out why. The carpet was completely sodden with freezing cold water. No heating in freezing room. The rooms were in a dilapidated annex building a long walk from reception with poor lighting. The directions given by reception took me to a door that had the name, (which I have now forgotten,) of the wing/annex they sent me to, over the door, and when I squeezed through the door with my bags, I was in a completely dark corridor with no lighting that was completely cluttered with junk. I then had to negotiate my way past all the junk in the dark, with two bags, bumping in to everything and tripping over more junk on the floor, only to find the corridor was a dead end going nowhere, and certainly not to the rooms the sign over the door indicated. I then had to find my way back out the same way with same problems, in the dark, to find another door hidden away at the end of the block that actually took me to the room. I had just finished a forty hour shift without a break, and all I wanted to do was fall asleep, so consequently, after a bath I got on the bed and went out like a light and slept well despite the appalling smell and conditions.
Beds were comfy, the hotel was clean and warm for winter, food was good.
The shower sets off the smoke alarm even with door closed, not very easy to find, especially in the dark, shower wasn't great.
Very convenient for visiting family, and a very comfortable room. We have stayed here a number of times, and had no problems...until now.
Our first room was luke warm when we left at 4pm, just after arrival. We returned at 10.30pm to an ice cold room. We were initially offered a small oil heater, but this was totally inadequate. Eventually a room was found, but only after some nagging. Seems this hotel is fine in Summer, but has issues in Winter
I can`t say we found anything to recommend it
We came down to Northampton for a family funeral. After a tiring journey and an emotional day, when we got to our room we found it very cold and had to go to bed fully clothed and find towels as extra covers for warmth! We even switched the hair dryer on to try and warm the room. It was awful we are in our 80`s and expected better. We had already booked in for a 2nd night but had to pay extra for a supreme double!!! The room was very nice and warm and comfortable but in the morning we had no hot water. My cousin who lives in the town told us this used to be one of the best in town but from what we experienced it has certainly gone down hill and we will not be recommending to anybody else and it certainly was`nt cheap.
Breakfast and dining room experience superb reception fantastic
No hot water at 10 at night or heating on second day
Staff were very nice.
It did not look like the picture at all. It is in the middle of a residental area. No heating on! Taps loose. Needs modernising. It should be a lot cheaper!!!
Central location. Cheap
Room was nice ,clean with good enough parking for car.
The radiators in the room were not working and it was too cold during the nights. After complaining about it in the reception I was provided with a small radiator but that was not good enough to keep the room warm. Somehow I managed to stay there for 4 nights.
Room cleaned every day however no replacement of tea/milk. Room warm. Parking good.
Definitely in need of repair. Rooms very tired, wallpaper peeling and Tiles bulging / coming away in bathroom, sink gurgled and was smelly, toilet flushing was very noisy to say the least! Wi-Fi very hit and miss - easier to get a signal on phone outside - working on tablet an impossibility!
The hotel looked much fresher than on our last visit We had booked a superior room which wan newly redecorated roomy and very comfortable
Nothing really - it is perfect for us when visiting our family in Northampton Prices have increased but is well offset by the refurbishment work
Towels stored directly above the toilet. Being awoken by builders outside the window at 07:30.
The breakfast was cooked to order!
We were not told at the time of booking that the hotel was going under major refurbishment. There was no heating in the room and we had to request a fan heater. The room was quite dated and in need of a spruce up. The bathroom was very basic and small. There was no room service or drinks after 11.P.M. and the hotel front door had to be 'unlocked' when we returned from a relatives at 11.30 P.M. would not go there again or recommend to anyone.
WE were given a room with a partly boarded window, curtains hanging of the rail and ill fitting. The en-suite bathroom which was ok, had no heating at all and the whole room was cold. The neighbouring room was noisy throughout the night. The breakfast was disappointing for a price of £10 each. Would not stay here again, it spoilt our weekend. So much potential but so disappointing!
Smelly. Old decor. Untidy. Uncared for.
