Staff very pleasant & efficient, very good breakfast both quality of food and service. Good plasma tv in room. Poor level of maintenance, decorative standard and appearance in corridors and particularly in bedroom, which was by no means "superior" and in fact wasn't up to "standard" room status. Shower pressure very low in bathroom.

Booked a 'executive' room at a cheap price so good value for money. The 'executive' room was just about up to the level of a Premier Inn. Would not have wanted to risk a standard room!

For the price, breakfast should have been included. It was another 8 pounds to buy. Silly.

Room was large and comfortable. The staff were helpful and on hand. Food was good. The place was rather run down and could do with a coat of paint. The evening meals were good but pricey.

Nothing. As a couple we have stayed in numerous hotels, we have never given a review like this as we always try to find something positive and we are definately not fussy people, we do not expect perfection, but this hotel was horrendous. The hotel was filthy, it stank, it was dilapidated, the rooms were cold and dirty. The tiles in the bathroom were covered in mould and slime. The bath was full of hair, the carpet had not been vacuumed. If you imagine a dirty public bathroom on a run down bus station that would be the same level as this. We have never stayed in a hotel this bad and would not recommend anyone stays here. It was the worst experience of our lives.

The price was fantastic. I booked a room without breakfast and opted to have an executive room to get more space and it was great value. It had a good work desk and a separate table which was slightly lower so was good for typing. I could watch the tv from where I was sitting working too. I also liked being able to park in a special ladies car park spot close to reception as I arrived late at night. The reception staff and the young man who helped me to my room with my luggage were very friendly and efficient. I was lucky enough to have a room in the main old building. However, it looked as though there were several people with rooms in the extensions which had been built onto the hotel. I didn't see what these rooms were like but I appreciated the old world feel (and stained glass etc in the old windows) of the original part of the hotel.

Room had everything I needed as a business traveller; car park, wireless, reasonable sized room and bathroom. A good basic hotel and excellent value for money as a last-minute solution. Corridors smelt a bit musty; probably a throwback to the days of smoking.

Not a great deal. Restaurant staff all very pleasant. Convenient for business areas of Northampton. Arrived at 8.55, asked about possibility of dinner and lad on reception said the restaurant was closed. I pointed out - only 8.55. He said well you can try. Can do without this sort of welcome after 3.5 hours driving. Got supper though, and can honestly say it was very poor indeed. Wish I hadn't bothered. Despite the hotel being fairly empty, I was given the room as far away from the main building, in an annex, as it is possible to get. Why?? I know the hotel wasn't exactly expensive, but really, the experience was not acceptable.

Friendly staff and lovely room in the old part of the hotel. It must have been a very beautiful house. Great budget hotel and was just what we needed for a one night stay. Had a short notice dinner which was very acceptable and reasonably priced. Great breakfast in lovely dining room. Waiter in the restaurant was under trained but not really too much of a problem. Might have been his first night. Overlit bar and tea lights on the tables at dinner so wax went everywhere. Radio blaring at breakfast.

Nice rooms and friendly staff in the main building. Watch out for the budget deals as they will put you in an annex of the hotel. Poor quality small rooms and dogs are allowed to stay in the room so expect barking dogs.

The staff were friendly and hospitable. The room was well positioned as my father is partially disabled. It was quiet and clean. Breakfast was varied selection, good, hot and served with friendliness and care. All in all the hotel was an experience I would readily reccommend and repeat myself. The annexe is a little cold and in need of a coat of paint however, this was reflected in the price and in general was very good value for money.

We were pleased with the location as it was very near where we were spending the day. We were in an annexe bedroom and although the room was reasonable the building was very old fashioned and away from the main hotel. The bar food we ordered in the evening was poor - the sandwiches were made with stale bread and they did not contain the tomato (in one) and cucumber (in the other) as on the menu.
