Every stay so far had problem of some sort at reception. This time we had been booked as no show for an earlier date which we hadnt booked. Orders taken for meals by bar staff served to tables at random as nobody seemed to know who had ordered what.hence I had finished my meal some 20 mins.before my wife got hers and some billed to the wrong table. We had similar billing problem on our previous stay. Tv in room didnt work .When reported to reception they already knew but hadnt bothered to say so at booking in. Poor selection of Bitter beer and what was on was excessively cold for a good bitter beer.

Great Hotel!! We were there for a Wedding taking place a few minutes drive away so location was perfect. Staff were great, room was immaculate and very comfortable, plenty of space, large bathroom with great shower. Breakfast was very nice, lots to choose from. Would definately stay again if I needed a place to stay in that area.

Excellent attentive staff. High Holiday in standards, nice refurbishment and quality breakfast. Nothing really, had to cross car park to spa but that can't be helped as the spa has always been there

This was the perfect place for me to stay. It was my first trip up to Darlington, visiting my son. The Holiday Inn was just the right distance from him. The room was clean and comfortable. Excellent facilities and a lovely TV that worked!!! (so many in other hotels don't) Tea and Coffee making facilities which I feel are a must. It's so nice to wake up and be able to make that first cuppa in the morning. I would also like to say how good the breakfast was, something for everyone whatever your taste, tea or coffe brought to your table which is nice, much better that dispensing it yourself from machines. I would definitely come again.

Very high standard, modern, clean and comfortable hotel, with good facilities. Temperature in the restaurant and bar was fairly cold. Also our starter and main courses were not much warmer!

We found that all the staff that we dealt with were beyond brilliant throughout our stay. They went the extra mile without us even having to ask. We had an excellent stay at the holiday Inn and would most definitely come back again if we were in the area.

Although it is right next to the motorway ... its a lovely hotel with great facilities (that I didn't get the chance to use ... maybe next time!) and has a really nice feel to it. Lovely bar area, great looking resturant (again ...arrived after 10pm so was closed!), lovely room, nice breakfast and great price! If you are a light sleeper, you will notice the road noise!!

Executive room was excellent - room 206. Bed was really comfortable, room and ensure immaculate. New bar and dining area were gorgeous, no longer looks like an airport lounge. Breakfast service very haphazard and slow. There did not appear to be any structure. Took a long time to get a cup of tea and on the second morning cooked breakfast items were allowed to run out and we had to wait in a queue. I would suggest seating guests would make serving tea/ coffee faster as staff would no exactly who came in and when. Or perhaps all self service to release staff to assist with topping up. A little slow in the bar especially when your sent back to your seat to wait to order food. We sat 15 mins as the bar became busy and I think initially we were forgotten. Perhaps initially ordering at the bar wills be more sensible.

I had an executive suite which was a lovely room, very spacious, a huge king size bed, a choice of soft or firm pillows, a dressing room with mini bar and a spacious modern en-suite. In the room was complimentary bottle water, orange juice, tea, coffee, a kitkat and some magazines. Nice to find an iron and a hairdryer in the room. I had breakfast in my room which was delivered on time although not as hot as I would have liked. The hotel that night was busy due to the armed forces careers and franchise show. I had a meal in the hotels restaurant. Service was very slow and not attentive. Was left waiting a long time for before anyone took my order, as was a number of other people. A long wait between courses, a few people complained and were told that they were busy having to deal with room service! They know how many guests are booked in to the hotel and should ensure there are enough staff to provide a good level of service, they let themselves and the customer down.

The quality of the breakfast was disgraceful. We arrived at 9.30am(breakfast is served until 10am) there was hardly anything to eat, we had to ask them to serve more food and the bread was disgusting it had blue mould on it. Staff at breakfast were not attentive at all. Very poor experience for a breakfast.

The room was very comfortable and the Italian evening meal was excellent. Wifi throughout the hotel. Excellent refurbishment of entire hotel. Breakfast could be better organised. We were told to sit anywhere, then advised the table we had chosen was set for dinner. The food was ok but ran out before chef replenished.
