Very hard to beat, we were travelling South on the A1. In spite of a large party in the hotel the room was very good and comfortable. Fratello's restaurant was good too. Very convenient for the A1.
We stayed in a disability access room, I'm not sure whether it was my booking error, so there was a green ceiling light on all night, also a smell of cigarette smoke.
The staff The decor The food And the hotel, very nice.
Would like bigger pillow. And having to leave to come home, we shall be back
Clean, efficient, good red wine and supper
Would be good to allow a dog please
The accommodation was easy to book & our special requirements were met (slight mobility problem). We were very tired after a long day & were very pleased to have room service for dinner. Also extra feather pillows were provided on request.
Toiletries provided were disappointing - skin lotion would have been good. Also not enough teabags - only 2 available.
Location, standard of the room, layout of the hotel, breakfast.
Restaurant Service Location Staff Rooms
drink prices expensive some vine only sold by the bottle
For many years I've admired this 1930s building on our way south and finally got a chance to stay there. Excellent meal in the Italian restaurant and breakfast was very good too. The room was spacious and comfortable.
quick action on change of room at midnight due to water noise regarding interior roof soil pipes concield in interior walls. room 122. needs sorting out! evening meal in restauraunt very good.
dried up breakfast. not acceptable.
Great location ,great parking ,very nice staff. Good value and some nice things in the little fridge, water, juice and a kit Kat very thoughtful
Resturant not the best
Very friendly staff. Comfortable, pleasant environment. Good meal in restaurant.
Air conditioning Fan
Excellent room and really quiet even though right beside busy A1/A66 junction. Accessibility is great. Bed/bathroom etc really high quality.
Restaurant is nice and food is very good but why oh why do table staff offer the tiniest sprinkling of black pepper or parmesan and then ask "is that enough?" - just give me the grinder or offer me the bowl and a serving spoon and let me help myself!
The hotel and rooms were very clean and nicely furnished. The staff were really friendly and helpful - from the Reception to the staff in the Restaurant. Breakfast was really good too.
We can't think of anything that we didn't like.
Great bar, great service. Beautiful rooms with good facilities.
Hotel on route to our destination and great value
Impressive hotel, friendly reception and very convenient stopping place on the road south from N Scotland.
Easy to find hotel, easy check in, clean comfortable room, good food, friendly staff.
Great food, very good staff. Breakfast was very good. Clean, tidy, great decor.
The bed. The only difference between sleeping on the floor and sleeping on the bed was, the bed was raised. The bed caused both my wife and I to suffer backache for the whole of the following day, it's not a bed its a raised floor.
Everything was great and especially the price! We arrived late and the staff made sure we could still get dinner and not feel rushed. Nice quiet room with a very comfy bed!!
After a long drive I felt instantly relaxed in an environment I felt as understated quality. A good sleep then I treated myself to the kippers for breakfast which really were top drawer. I feel I have haD A LUXURY BREAK AT A BUDGET PRICE
The room was great, and the restaurant for our evening meal was very good.
My pillows were rated as firm, I found them rather hard, a medium rather than soft may have suited me better.
We liked the convenient position of the hotel but the access could be a problem at busy times. The air con worked very well and the first impressions were good. Tea and coffee making facilities were useful as was the free wi fi. Parking was very convenient.
Unfortunately there were no drawers for clothing and not a lot of hanging space . The tiled area at the entrance to the room ,meant that when the people above our room came home the noise of their feet in shoes was very irritating. The bath was too narrow to stand in comfortably to shower and probably uncomfortable to bath in!!! There were no grab handles of any kind in the shower and no non slip mat. Although advertised as a Bridal hotel the lighting in neither the bathroom or bedroom was correct for shaving, applying makeup, or doing your hair as all lights are behind you!!! Disappointing planning!!!!
The staff -they were all so friendly and good at their jobs. The breakfast was excellent again staff very helpful.
The haddock was lovely but had the underskin on it - in Scotland never any skin on th fish great!
