WOKEN UP AT 4:30 a.m. WITH FIRE ALARM RINGING. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT THERE WERE NO STAFF ( UNTIL ) ENTRANCE TO HOTEL, TO ADVISE AND GUIDE. EVERYONE WAS RUNNING AROUND IN A PANICK. A P.A. SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED TO ADVISE CLIENTS WHAT TO DO ETC.
Bed is very comfortable and it's huge, plenty pillows available too. Very clean, shower cap, shampoo and soap also provided. Breakfast is lovely, good selection and fresh. All round fabulous and very happy as I got married here on 30th August and all my guests were happy with my choice of hotel .. bonus !
One of the breakfast staff was quite rude to numerous guests that had seated, but nothing that you cant let go over your head!
Everything, Staff, Hospitality, Cleanliness, Food,
Nothing to report !
The receptionist that dealt with me was superb. She was very helpful, friendly and professional. A credit to the hotel.
The interior of the hotel is quite dated, just needs a bit of paint !
Bathroom had not been cleaned !
The overall experience was good, the staff were helpful and polite and the breakfast was good
There was a problem with the fire alarm system the night we stayed and the alarms were going off at 445am and i didnt go back to sleep, a technical hitch which is a shame as the hotel itself was great
As soon as you arrive at the reception we were greeted. The Hospitality was very good thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will be coming back next year for the Festival, if not sooner. Thank you .
Nothing to say!
Excellent display of calmness under pressure from the receptionist whilst checking in. Hotel clean but a bit tatty around the edges.
I didn't like the fact that Booking.com hadn't secured my reservation for 4 twin rooms and that it took ½hr to eventually check-in, much to the annoyance of my travelling companions who were chomping at the bit to get to the pub!! The WiFi signal in the room was useless. The bar looked shut when it was open! (Was that a hint?)
Comfy big bed. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Good location.
Bar prices ha ha
Location, Flexibility of returning to room, ie a music festival was on and we returned at 2am, Clean Room and Bathroom. Plenty of storage for bags, clothing etc Would stay again :)
Although not driving the additional £2.50 car park fee per day was a surprise. Was not a double bed but 2 singles together, stubbed foot on adjoining bracket a few times. LOL I thought it was funny, but could be an issue for others.
the room was clean and the staff was very helpfull
there was dog allowed in to the bar area when there was a private function on.
We were in Wigan for the second time in about six weeks and decided to stay in the Mercure again. \We were not disappointed. It is great value for money. If, like us, you prefer to keep to yourself there is no problem. On the other hand, there is no problem being sociable with the other guests. The food is good. The staff are efficient, helpful and friendly. When we are in Wigan again we stay in the Mercure.
It does not bother me but I think that the hotel could improve its image by relocating its entrance or,at least, removing the spiders webs that hung over the porch on our last visit and were still there this time. A few shrubs in pots around the existing entrance would give visitors a better indication of the hotel's interior quality.
Location to pubs and staff were lovely.....
Was all really good no complaints
Bed was awesome. Best nights sleep ever. Spacious stylish comfortable room. Breakfast was delicious and hot !
Couldnt fault anything
Room and lovely size bed
Cost of breakfast . No subtitles for the hard of hearing on TV . Corridors where dark and lights were slow to come on
waitress staff worked very hard to please despite being very busy at all times through coach parties
reception. bar and lounge areas all dull and lacking custom care & facilities
comfortable beds & pillows large spacious room
2 staff at the bar talking to a woman they new. I had to ask if they were serving one replied yes and carried on talking, they need some serious training that is a management fault also I phoned 2 times to ask for help with getting to the hotel as we had problems finding it, I was told he could not help as he was not from wigan I cannot be the only person to have asked this question very poor customer service it is a shame really as the hotel looks very impresive
it was great location rooms spacious very help full staff
The staff were very polite and chatty, especially the receptionist. Excellent parking facilities. The beds were very comfy, Nice toiletries in the bathroom. Very good hot and cold buffet breakfast
Comfortable, clean, quiet
Room was comfortable and clean and loved being able to order fresh milk in morning in bedroom for early morning tea Staff on reception desk were very helpful and had a polite manner
We paid extra for breakfast. There were not enough staff to cope and so people were waiting for ages to get a table Once having a table, service was very slow - and cooked breakfast items were delivered to the self service hot plate one at a time and took more than 20 mins to arrive We asked if The staff seemed to be struggling due to serious staff shortage and when we went to ask it seems that there was not a manager on duty who could deal with this. Not good enough!
Location was spot on staff very friendly and helpfull rooms very comfortable bed really comfy
