Staff were very helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast. We stayed during a particularly hot spell and really needed air conditioning. Grateful for the electric fan supplied. |

We phoned down to reception in the mornings to request an iron & board, the staff were poilte and helpful and delivered one to the room straight away. Even though we left a do not disturb sign on the door as we did not require our room to be cleaned the house keepers left fresh towels, tea and biscuits at our door which we thought was an excellent service. The rooms were far too warm and you could not escape the heat. Fans were provided but too loud to keep on during the night. The only other down side to our stay was the added expense of parking because there were very limited amounts of guest parking even though we had requested a space when we made a reservation. |

the room was very clean and the staff were very friendly the lack of parking and the policy of moving the car by 11 am the next morning- however the secure parking on Kent street was very close to the hotel. |

Convenient location; comfortable bed and good television screen; the young man on duty downstairs on June 18th was polite, efficient, and most helpful. The noise on the night before we checked out was excessive; a woman and her "mate" had a fight in loud, strident tones. Even after their fight ceased, the couple wwere loud, loud, loud. They didn't settle down until the "wee hours of the morning." Needless to say, we did not sleep well that night! |

I felt 'ripped off' by the hotel charging me £5 to park overnight. I made it clear that I needed parking until the following afternoon and the receptionist did not tell me that paying the public price of £10 for 24hours would be the better option. As it was I paid the hotel £5 and then another £10 for 'up to 24hours parking' the following morning. |

The room was great, shower was excellent unlike most hotel showers, double bed was huge and comfortable. There isn't really much I can put my finger on to say what was great about it but it was just a nice place to be. Even had a view of York castle which was nice. I think the best thing is how close it was to the city centre, it was literally a 5 min walk and you were slap bang in the city... I think there should be more parking and it should be in with the money you pay for the hotel. |

The hotel was very clean, the room modern, and the price reasonable. The staff very polite and friendly, the breakfast very good. The shower grid must have been a bit blocked as it nearly overflowed. The room was extremely hot at night - and we couldnt keep the window open because the traffic was so noisy at 6am, a fan was in the room. |

Hotel 53 is clean and modern and fairly central to the city centre. Do not park your car in there alloted parking across the road. it's owned by the city council with no sercirity whatsoever, it's all under cover, but don't let that deceive you. There is a gate that should be locked at night, but the hotel staff didn't shut it, as in my case! . |

The rooms were very modern, tidy & clean. For a family room i thought the room was very small also there was no storage space except for a few coat hangers so most of our belongings had to be left on the room floor. I also thought the car parking was very poor it would have been better if it was an option to pre book the car park with the room. |

Clean hotel with friendly staff. Easy check in and out, modern design. Shower sometimes worked, sometimes dribbled. Very expensive bar. No Air Conditioning in the rooms, not good on hot days, and unfortunatly windows only opened very slightly. |
