Very convenient. Bright and clean room. the bathroom was clean well equipped. Staff friendly and helpful.

Room was very nice, very comfortable bed, good walk in shower and lovely clean bathroom. Overall the hotel was really good.

Pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. The heat in the room was unbearable, which was a shame because you could not sleep or relax in there at all. It took three requests to source a fan for us - at first we were told that all available fans were in use. We were told that they were aware of the heat problem, but they still did not have a fan for each room. Also, there is an additional fee for the car park which is situated across the road.

The staff were pleasant.

I found the hotel very disappointing especialy considering the price I paid. The wireless did not work and as I was on a business trip this was one of the reasons I chose Hotel 53. The breakfast was not included even though I clicked on an item on the website that specifically indicated that my deal included breakfast. The sink in the room was blocked and remained so for the entire duration of my stay of a week. Altogether, I found the hotel quite disappointing and expensive.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast.

We stayed during a particularly hot spell and really needed air conditioning. Grateful for the electric fan supplied.

We phoned down to reception in the mornings to request an iron & board, the staff were poilte and helpful and delivered one to the room straight away. Even though we left a do not disturb sign on the door as we did not require our room to be cleaned the house keepers left fresh towels, tea and biscuits at our door which we thought was an excellent service.

The rooms were far too warm and you could not escape the heat. Fans were provided but too loud to keep on during the night. The only other down side to our stay was the added expense of parking because there were very limited amounts of guest parking even though we had requested a space when we made a reservation.

Convenience and location

Close to centre of city, clean rooms, optional breakfast,fast check in and check out. Good value for money hotel, would use again.

The hotel is in a good location, the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean, a pleasant hotel which we would use again

it was hassle free, good simple rooms that were always clean.

The room was great, shower was excellent unlike most hotel showers, double bed was huge and comfortable. There isn't really much I can put my finger on to say what was great about it but it was just a nice place to be. Even had a view of York castle which was nice. I think the best thing is how close it was to the city centre, it was literally a 5 min walk and you were slap bang in the city...

I think there should be more parking and it should be in with the money you pay for the hotel.

No air conditioning was a suprise considering this is a new hotel
