Ambleside Central is a beautiful Victorian property, offing luxurious rooms with grand period features.
Score from 158 reviews Good
Great location right on the centre of Ambleside with free 'cosy' parking. Nice bar with a good selection of drinks available at better than the local pub prices. Overall good for the price in an expensive part of the lakes.
Rooms are pleasant but have a few niggles that let things down. Breakfast is basic but acceptable.
rain on friday
Was just too cold in room other than that it was fine
Friendly atmosphere and staff.
Couldn't get WiFi on iPhone
Very friendly staff, good size room and comfortable bed.
Breakfast was a bit disappointing. Although ample, when served it was swimming in liquid from the mushrooms and tomatoes, and the sausage looked very insipid and uncooked. We only took breakfast the one day out of the two.
Free wifi, good location in center of town, cheap.
My room location was right above the reception, which in turn was right above a basement night club which I presume is owned by the hotel. The first night of my stay the club was playing absolutely banging dance music until 4am, so unfortunately I didn't get much sleep that night! I was subsequently moved for my second night, and although the hotel has some plus points I definitely won't be going back.
The public rooms were well decorated and the restaurant gave excellent value for money
Our bedroom was clean but very sparse. The bathroom ceiling was ineed of repair.
Friendly staff esp the 2 funny male receptionist
Issue with toilet in the room seemed to leak with every flush
Staff happy and helpful
Tired looking bedroom and bar area in need of tlc
Staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble. Cooked breakfasts was good qualify and not greasy.
Breakfast could be updated a bit, fruit ,yogurt granola.... you could get cereal in individual boxes but nothing stood out. Though our room was clean it was a bit tired could do with a bit of an up date very basic for £70 a night.
Staff friendly and very helpful. Bar and Restaurant very good. Excellent range of real ale. Rooms warm and comfortable after a day on the hills
Décor in rooms could do with some renovation
The room was lovely and warm.
The fact that the kitchen seemed to always be out of food and closed early, and were told that we couldn't have a sandwich after 5pm.... What a joke!!!!The car parking spaces didn't exist so spent a fortune on parking tickets..There are lots of other things that upset both me and my fiance, and with both of us having catering backgrounds expected more considering the rating!!
The food.friendly staff.comfortable bed.atmosphere
Not a good internet signal.
Location, food, friendly staff.
Car parking always a squeeze - but that's Ambleside.
Great location Friendly staff
Parking not brilliant
The breakfast could be a lot better it was cold, the bacon average, toast cold and we had to ask for a fresh pot of tea every morning. We went down for breakfast at 9 and they serve till 9 .30am so therefore every thing should be hot and still fresh.
Coffee served at breakfast tasted like cheap instant, not in keeping with the rest of the excellent meal
The room was spaciois however we had paid for an upgrade to a 4 poster bed . The room was clean and comfortable .
There is no parking so be warned they have space for a few cars and Ambleside it is difficult to park . We had a problem with the door in the room however this was sorted by Matthew asap . The breakfast was disgusting no other way to describe it ! we had to eat out the next day albeit it was paid for . I would not recommend this hotel to anyone I am sorry .
Location of hotel. Very comfortable bar with excellent choice of cask ales, best beer in the area!
Single room radiator wasn't working. Staff happy to change room when complained. Breakfast ok but could be more choice.
The location - very central
Location - very noisy Noisy guests Dreadfully soft bed Luke warm breakfast
good location in the city centre. Basic but clean room, you get what you've paid for.
Friendly reception upon arrival. Warm room. Amazing view of town.
6 car parking spaces for 26 rooms. Dreary hallways with dated decor and dead flowers. Stains on bedroom walls and carpet. Exposed nails and chipped paint. Undercooked breakfast with only one elderly lady serving the whole room. Staff members seeming to agree that the hotel is poor. Apparently they had "run out of food" by 3pm
Excellent location for everything in Ambleside. Very friendly staff and good service even when you have noisy nieghbours, they sort them out! Would stay there again.
Car park is too small but you could be lucky. Parking in general is a nightmare in Ambleside. Possible to park for free in front of hotel from 6pm - 10am (with an hour either side) then you have to move it.
very nice and warm, all the staff were marvellous ,for a stay in Ambleside and in the middle of every thing can not beat it .
Unfortunataley car park not big enough
