Score from 433 reviews Good
Convenient with friendly staff
Poor sound proofing between bedrooms.
The manager was very friendly and made us welcome.
Neil at the Queen's Head was very hospitable and helpful.I could not ask for more.I also enjoyed a quiet beer with his locals in the evening and found the whole experience welcoming.
A Friendly and warm welcome from the Landlord. Breakfast was excellent.
Friendly staff Great Breakfast included in price Really helpful Very relaxed welcomed my two dogs
Couldn't find the hair dryer
The Landlord was very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The Barman was very friendly too! The Landlord cooks a great breakfast too! All in all it was a lovely overnight stay with clean, if somewhat quirky rooms due to the age of the building. We would definitely stay again!
Not much to not like! Had to be careful of the slanting ceiling in the top room - but soon got used to it.
Location and service
No hand towel in Toilet.
excellent breakfast, congenial host
the fact that it is listed as an hotel but actually is an inn
- friendly host
- noise from the street (A40) - small bathroom which one can not see on the photos (bathtub under sloping roof so having a shower was impossible)
Friendly and helpful owner, really comfy bed, awesome shower and a cracking breakfast - perfect!
Very noisy live music until midnight underneath my room
The owner and staff were great and friendly. Great breakfast on Saturday.
Breakfast on sunday wasn't as good as Saturday, it was cooked by someone else, no coffee was made in the coffee machine.
Had a lovely bath to soak away aches and pains - complete with candles and a little box of matches! Very friendly and welcoming landlord Beautiful and interesting historic building with plenty of character.
Not sure if they had wi-fi, couldn't find any info in the room (no booklet explaining breakfast/check-out times, ammenities etc) Room appeared clean and linen was crisp and white, but walking around in bear feet I noticed I'd picked up rather a lot of short black hairs!!
Friendly , helpful , had a good sleep and a great breakfast , what more can you ask of a b&b
Room decor lovely and shower good. Owner and staff friendly. Jazz night enjoyable. Breakfast very good.
First impression of bar area and corridor not great as they are very dark.
Wi fi only available downstairs
Very cheap Landlord was super friendly and helpful Rooms were clean if a touch dated and small
The actual pub and bar area is not nice Limited parking Breakfast was poor
Friendly landlord. Great breakfast. Modern, clean room with good shower. Great price.
Noise of the church bells and downstairs bar when trying to sleep - I'm not a light sleeper but struggled to get to sleep and woke every hour with the church bells unfortunately (obviously not their fault). Just something to bear in mind if you want to get a good night's sleep before a meeting. Poor WiFi signal.
Friendly staff and locals down at the bar.
No evening food but not a problem as there are numerous pubs, restaurants and take aways all within a very short walk around the town centre.
My friend and I were visiting family and found The Queen's Head a welcoming, comfortable place to stay. Neil, the owner, seemed a very helpful, attentive person. We had a tasty, filling breakfast that set us up for the day, and on one evening we attended a live band in the pub which gave our short break an interesting end. The cost was very competitive.Thank you Neil.
We have no negative feedback.
Staff and position (if you ha a car), but you can enjoy a room in a historic inn (the Queen's head hotel dates back to the XVI century).
Room was comfortable and clean. food was good, but facilities a bit dated.
Loud music. Venue a 400 year old building, which could do with some TLC. Parking would be an issue for most guests.
Excellent host who was happy to give us onward directions and info about the town. Clean rooms, good breakfast and great location.
Outside traffic noise made sleeping difficult.
The owner was hugely helpful and interesting. Rooms each had their own lovely quirky character. Good value for money - I would definitely go back there if in the Monmouth area again
