Position in the centre of town in excellent. We had booked for breakfast which was very good, with a good choice including vegetarian and gluten-free. We had one dinner in the hotel which was very good
The hotel is a little tired but this is changing with a complete refurb this winter.
Breakfast poor hotel needs updated decoration poor in all areas
Nothing not to like
Great location in the center of town
Needs decoration, showe was a drop, leak in roof.
Very central to Keswick and all local shops and places of interest. Good value.
Windows wouldn't open Heating on full throughout hotel too hot.
Our room was lovely and clean and the bed was really comfy !! Great location could ask 4 better value
Hotel was central didn't spend much time in room would stay again hotel needs modernised but is happening soon so will be great breakfast ok
money saving vouchers for days out
creaky floorboards, but understand refurbishment is on the cards.
View from bedroom window of Fire Escape & roof.
Everything. Location is great, room was beautiful and staff very helpful. Great breakfast spread. I am going to be back.
I had a quiet room with a bath. It had superb views. I only had breakfast but there was excellent food and found the location perfect. The staff were always helpful and pleasant, making helpful suggestions. I would happily stay again.
The garage was small and had 3 large containers in it. The access to the hotel from it was dismal. The bath was nice and deep, but one of the handles was set into the wall and the other was half hidden by the shower door. There was no safety mat for it.
Hotel Needs a total refurbishment
Breakfast and expensive alcohol
Central room Breakfast good price
Two flights of stair with case and the lift not adjacent to room floor boards creaked and window would not lock properly and could hear water coming down on roof bathroom small and shower not easy to operate breakfast room a little cold and out dated
The hotel quite shabby but believe a full renovation is starting
Look of the hotel Great location, very central Excellent breakfast spread Staff very helpful Very clean
Bed was a double but a small double
Excellent friendly staff. Great breakfasts.
Good value. Attentive staff. Arrangement for use of town car parking.
The Queen's Hotel is in an excellent location overlooking the pedestrian main street and market place The bed was extremely comfortable. Convenient for many local restaurants, coffee bars and pubs Good to find an old hotel with a lift.
On holiday, it would be nice to have a slightly later breakfast - until 10.00am maybe. Some of the furniture was not in keeping with the age of the hotel, such as the formica units in the bedroom The shower was difficult to get into for anyone not steady on their feet. I did not use it during my stay. A grip bar would be helpful It would be nice to be able to eat and drink in the bar, but we'd have been alone and there did not seem to be any bar staff.
View from room
We were on top floor facing the pedestrian walkway. The room was stuffy, no soap was supplied and we were kept up most of the night by roaming groups of drunken revelers. Luckily, we spent only one night at The Queens.
The décor, breakfast and it's central position.
We couldn't get to sleep until a nearby club or pub stopped it's loud base sounding beat music until 12.30 when it stopped.
The Staff were friendly, the room size was adequate if not slightly generous. I think the breakfast was quite good considering it comes with the room price and the parking pass was moderately priced.
Floorboards broken all over the hotel, the lift door closes ON you. The towels are hard and sandpaper like. The mattresses were like 90 year old sponges - padded, no support, just awful. Outside the window (with a lovely view of a wall) was no concern given to soundproofing from the bar below, or the air flow heating system things. The worst part was being walked in on by room service who don't bother to knock - there's no door handle hangers for do not disturb - and they didn't leave right away. Ordered food the first night after a long journey - and only got half of it because they didnt know their own menu! Far too expensive for the 1960's decor of rooms... and beds which are probably that old - the furniture definitely was - it's a place that needs a lot of updating, or just refreshing because it doesn't really need to be modern - it suits the faux-grand look of the ground floor... but it's a shame that the rest of the place is so terrible.
For my wife and I, the bed was the most comfortable in our week around the Lake District. The location was very central in Keswick and the bar area was good. For the money, it was OK value but we won't come back here.
Our daughter's single room was poor and the curtains did not cover the window, so she could not sleep well. The overall decor was faded and the hotel needs re-furbishing. There were shared public toilets at the time, which was gross! Breakfast was disappointing and not up to the usual Lakes standard. The central location, though handy for shops and restaurants, was very noisy from early morning.
