Queens HotelMain Street, CA12 5JF Keswick (Show map) Very good, Score from 284 reviews“Really good value, massive room, right in the centre of town, overlooking the main street - however it was not noisy. Good breakfast too.”

Only liked the location The public rooms at the hotel are clean and confortable. Breakfast was average. The bedroom was in bad need of redecoration, looked as if it had not been decorated for at least 30 yrs, walls were dirty and dusty. Holes in the fabric of bedside lamps, drapes and curtains faded. Radiator in bedroom leaked so had to move rooms at midnight, second room the secondary glazing would not close so very noisey, generator out side window as council were cleaning pavements at 6oclock in the morning. Night club next door to hotel so very noisey into the early hours. Bedding, towels and bathrooms spotless. Would not stay at this hotel ever again !!!

Staff were unfriendly at best. The room was stated at being superior yet I've seem better ymca'S. The room was damp, unkempt, cracked windows, the bed slopped down hill from the feet to the head, which wasn't helped by the pillows that were barely stuffed, let alone any support. There was damp patches in the corner of the rooms full of cracks. The Door to the room didn't shut properly unless was slammed to make it catch. The bathroom was just as bad with a flush that didn't work properly, continually running water. The basin and bath were full of chips and cracks, then the bathroom flooded whenever the shower was used.

We have stayed at the Queens before and liked it very much, we must admit the room we had this time was very good. The staff are very friendly and helpfull, before we came to the Queens this time we stayed in Durham for a couple of nights. That was not as good and we wished we had stayed at the Queens longer instead of the hotel in Durham, they didn't know how to be friendly! Nothing we didn't like, brilliant hotel to stay in.

The queens is in great location, central for everything. The staff are very friendly and pleasant. The queens needs some money spent on it and brought up to standard. It also could do with a good clean!!!! very shabby and dated.

We liked the original features of this hotel and how it was furnished and decorated in keeping with them without being too overstated. It was very comfortable with a warm atmosphere.

Staff very friendly and the open fire in the bar with big comfy couches was a feature. Double room was large and bed very cosy. The hotel is in the centre of town overlooking a pedestrian shopping area so no traffic noise and double glazed as well. A bit old in some aspects but this adds to the rather unique ambiance of the hotel. Breakfast was very nice and plenty on offer. Hot water for showers was Luke warm at best but ample.

Lovely hotel, good location, friendly staff, nicely refurbished main areas though rooms are a little dated (probably classed as vintage or retro by others...) but still clean and comfy.

Friendly staff - very clean room, excellent bathroom, good breakfast. Due to location and the fact it was Boxing Day night, noisy outside of hotel, however, our room was double glazed, so noise minimised.

The Queens Hotel is a building that has much character and charm, not for those who seek the most modern of design. It was however clean and comfortable and the food was excellent and the beer likewise. What makes it excel in comparison to the competition is the staff, the welcome was warm and genuine and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff all of who went the extra mile.To the hotel owner - you have a real gem at the reception desk, namely Jo, she was delightful and certainly made our stay a memorable one

When I booked this hotel I then looked at previous comments that had been writen and I have to say I was then slightly worried however I have to say for all those who were very critical can only think they must have just had a bad day because we had a wonderful time the staff were very friendly and helpful and could not do enough to make our stay great the hotel although not the most up to date was clean and comfortable and as 3 couples who have stayed there for the first time would without a doubt stay there again and highly recommend
