Location great and comfortable dining room but that's about the only pros
I paid extra for a better than standard double room but was given a cramped basic room that looked nothing like the photo. If that was a better than average room I would hate to stay in a standard. Shower was a terrible dribble and wouldn't turn off Door to the cramped bathroom banged into toilet every time upon entering TV remote and tv itself only worked intermittently Very expensive for quality of rooms Breakfast could have come with mushrooms as it did last time I stayed
We have regularly stayed at this hotel two or three times a year for numerous years and love the location. The staff serving breakfast were helpful and polite.
I was not informed when I made the booking that the hotel was due to close shortly for a refurbishment and scaffolding was in place. The bed was uncomfortable as the mattress was rather lumpy. The shower would not work unless you took it of the pole and lowered it - made washing my hair difficult as I had to kneel in the bath to get any water out of the shower head. The main light at the bottom of the stairs was not working so going down stairs was difficult in the evening as two lamps were switched on and glared up at you so you could not see the steps. There was no sausages for breakfast on the 1st morning and extremely burnt croissants on the 2nd morning. There was no marmalade or plain yogurt available any morning. There were two occasions when we had to wait at reception for a while before a staff member appeared, but appreciate that as the hotel is closing for 4 months they would have let some staff go. Considering we paid full price for our stay, I was disappointed that the usual high standards have been allowed to slip.
As the title suggests, lovely staff! Hotel was clean and comfortable but clearly in need of a major refurb which is about to happen. I'll be very interested to return once this refurbishment is completed.
Not a criticism but rather a work in progress as the hotel is about to undertake a refurbishment programme.
I liked the pleasant staff and the cleanliness, view from the bedroom
The Hotel was to warm, the pillows were uncomfortable, dinner was ok, breakfast was cold, the bar closed at 11am Thursday night even to residents, the place needs modernizing
Great Central location. Heard the market setting up just after 5am but only because of our dog not because they were noisy. Great band on in evening. Staff very helpful.
One room had a terrible view of the building works that are going on.
Great location, good breakfast, helpful staff and enjoyed the entertainment at the Queens Head Bar at back of hotel
Half of the hotel was undergoing renovation, hopefully our room was next on the list for improvements. Room was too hot for comfort (207), no hand wash or soap and not enough loo roll. Could only open one window but this didn't seem to cool the room at all. Noise from outside until early hours and unable to close the window for the heat so no sleep to be had! Couldn't bear washing my hair in the morning as I would have to use a hairdryer in an already stifling room.
I like the friendliness of the staff and that the hotel is in the center of town.
The room could do with redecorating but was still comfortable.
Location in town was useful.
Room was much smaller than expected and overlooked unsightly roofing on the back of the hotel which had aircon units and made noise during the night. The bathroom window was horrible covered with bird mess. Wouldn't stay here again.
Old fashioned, comfortable hotel in the middle of Keswick. Staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast.
Room and furnishings a little tired. Maintenance required to bathroom fittings. Heating a little cool for an elderly couple!
The friendly, helpful staff in all areas of the hotel was a marked feature of our stay
Very noisy at all hours of the night from the street, market setting up, bin men extremely early, rock band from the hotel opposite all prevented sleep
Lack of staff, facilities and the builders were in!
The Queens is in prime position in the center of the town. it is a typical market town hotel. We opted for the town view room which was large with old but quality furniture, enormous bed was very comfortable. Staff and breakfast were excellent.
Central position in town centre.
No real complaints - lighting in room could have been better.
The location was paramount for us, it's ideal for getting around the Lakes. Excellent staff, good food and a really comfortable bed, everything we wanted.
we were very pleased with our stay
I've stayed here a few times, great location and great staff
One minor point...if staying a Friday night in front rooms, you may be woken by workmen erecting stalls for Satirday market in Main Street...started about 5.30 am when we stayed
This place cannot call itself a hotel. It was dirty, had a musty damp smell, filthy carpets, and the breakfast was floating in grease. It was more like a hostel. There were rowdy people coming and going during the night and no night receptionist to report this to. Could not recommend this place to anyone. Did complain but comments ignored. Still awaiting a telephone call from the Manager!
An old hotel in fairly good condition. Nice breakfast presentation.
Long walk from the town parking area to the front door on a pedestrian-only main street.
Bit dirty in areas
Good view at the back, over roofs to the peaks beyond. Friendly staff (service at breakfast could have been a bit quicker, though). The location is very good, central. The room at the back was quiet (though there were some bangs - due to the wind, or was it the lift door?).
Flies. There were several dying flies on every windowsill on the way down the stairs in the morning. A fly was buzzing round my breakfast table, settling on the knife etc. The room itself was fine on first impression, but I soon found out that there was no light by the bed, and the shower was very difficult to operate. Full breakfast: a bit too greasy.
The location. The room was attractively decorated. Wifi was free and easy to access. Breakfast was good.
The view from our room was not good ( a white wall) but otherwise everything was pleasing.
Breakfast very good Room size-good
Noise from main street
