The view from our room. The room & toilet were very small & not much cupboard space. Staff were polite but I think more staff training at reception on arrival & in the restaurant, for example 3 mornings out of 4 the staff forgot our toast. Out-side the hotel looks good apart from all the weeds at the front which really spoils it.

The view from our window in room 3 Was not aware of pet policy so was taken aback when I saw 2 dogs in hotel. I would be upset if I paid for room with signs of pets previously

For an overnight stay it was ok, the problem was I wanted a lift as we had and 86yr old lady who was very agile but wanted a lift, which there was but the reviews forgot to say it was on the the second floor which before that there were 14 steps to climb which I think should of been stated. We enjoyed our stay but for the lift would of been very good.

Clean, comfortable rooms, decent size for singles, good breakfast with excellent choice, friendly and efficient staff. Bar had good bottled local ales available. Meal in lounge bar also very good, with decent portions. The lift. Although there is a lift, it's not available for rooms on the first floor. If you're in rooms 5-8, as we were, you'll have a total of 28 steps to negotiate. One of our party had limited mobility, so this was far from ideal.

Good location, short walk to the town centre, friendly staff, good breakfast. Lack of parking space was frustrating although there is a nearby parking at the council parking site relatively cheap. Although our room (standard double) was comfortable, additional details such as couple of pictures on the wall would make it more pleasant.

The hotel was conveniently located close to the centre of Oban with attractive views across the harbour. The staff were extremely friendly hard working and responsive. The hotel had a high standard of cleanliness and service The hotel was marketed as a 4 star hotel and this was higher than it was. Car parking was restricted and somewhat difficult

Beautifully located. Bathrooms recently renovated. The morning receptionist and the breakfast staff were bright and bubbly. The hotel reception staff on arrival were not helpful and there is no lift from reception up to the first floor rooms. Had to climb about 8 stairs with heavy luggage and negotiate numerous fire doors. No offer to help. We are quite capable to manage our luggage but I see this as a downside of this hotel if you were older or disabled.

“Dungallen Country House is situated in a wonderful setting overlooking Oban Bay, looking across to Kerrerra and the islands beyond. The welcome we received on our arrival was very friendly and very helpful - Mike was very pleased to make a booking for us for our evening meal at a local restaurant and both he and his wife were more than happy to recommend other eating places if we wished to make our own booking - which we did on our second evening - again we were not disappointed. An extremely friendly and welcoming couple.” Alan, Forfar |
