Full English breakfast was very good.
Initially room was not ready but very quickly rectified. Room upgraded and away from the main road
Pub, food, staff
Beautiful old building renovated and modernised well. Excellent breakfast Really friendly family run pub
Wifi connection frustrating, but it is an issue for the whole area. Quirkiness of building meant that some en-suites were smaller and less equipt than others, but best use was made of the space and the showers were powerful
Deciding to go elsewhere
Being charged fully for a poorly equipped room I didn't even use. Then spending 10 days trying to get an invoice for the charge.
Friendly & very helpful staff
Road a bit noisy.
Evening meals were good
No Breakfast on either morning. For a working person breakfast time after 08:00 is too late, I left each morning at 07:40 to be in work for 08:00, there was no lights on in the dining area for a coffee, or to help myself to a bowl of cereal. I did mention this to the Bar staff that night, but still the same the next morning.
Clean and comfortable the staff were friendly and helpful.
I had the mixed grill and the meat was quite tough but edible.
Warm welcome, clean room, comfortable beds, good pub food, good value, every request dealt with quickly and courteously; we will definitely recommend the Queenshead and will return
Nothing to dislike
Very friendly and helpful from the moment we walked through the door. Welcoming open log fire, which was much appreciated after a long cold day at Duxford. Beds were very comfortable and rooms equipped with tea/coffee making facilities and toiletries in bathroom. I will definitely stay again when visiting the area
Can't think of any negatives
Dirty room full of the previous occupants belongings/rubbish
I had a libel stay at the Queenshead. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. And what a delicious breakfast! Served with care and a great big smile.... Just the way to start the day. Lovely people.
Friendly welcome, nice bar, good location
The staff The food The pub itself and excellent wifi
We didn't check the location of the Hotel as we had assumed that High Street Saffron Walden, ie the address stated, was in the centre of the town. It was our own fault, as it actually mentioned the village of Littleborough as location in the description.
Staff and owners were very friendly and the food was excellent and great value
Wifi not good and no cell phone signal at all
The food was very good, although the evening menu was very limited, what we had was excellent. Breakfast was lovely. Nice pub.
Noisy due to single glazed windows. Also pub noise kept us awake but to be expected as it it was a busy Saturday night.
Friendly welcome. Pleasant room with excellent shower.
The room overlooked the main road which meant heavy traffic going past from 4 am. I had a very broken night's sleep.
Welcoming & friendly family run inn Plenty of room in the family bedroom Food was lovely :D
Noisy saniflow system has to be heard to be believed. Pub was on main wagon route into Saffron Walden so wagons start thundering past at daft o clock in morning. Room was not serviced throughout 3 day stay. Had to ask for more towels and there was only half a roll of toilet paper on arrival!! Shower room/toilet was not very clean and the toilet handle was loose and was not easy to flush the toilet, although when you did you have to put up with 15 mins or so loud noise. Asked for an invoice as a it was a business expense wouldn't provide one then but said they would email one - still waiting. VERY POOR
Character property, good sized room. Staff did rustle up a quick cooked breakfast when told we had to get away early.
No plugs in sink or bath, no hairdryer. We stayed Saturday night and needed an early start on Sunday….pub party on Saturday night meant no sign of staff till 8.15 on Sunday morning (we nearly had to leave without paying!) Then told that breakfast didn't start at weekends till 9 am, despite notice in room saying breakfast from 7am.
A pleasant bedroom with comfortable beds. Good shower. Ample parking.
We waited 1 and a half hours for our evening meal, having been told it would be 40 minutes. We were told this was because they were busy, although we only saw 2 other tables being used. We were told breakfast was at 8 o'clock, but when we got downstairs there was no-one to serve us. After about 10 minutes a family arrived and said that breakfast was at 9 o'clock on Saturdays. The vegetarian option appeared to be 2 vinegarry over- poached eggs ,6 mushroom pieces and 3 enormous chunks of slightly burnt toast! The whole thing seemed disorganised and we wondered if this was due to a lack of competition in the area.
Very good standard of room, comfy bed with home touches including biscuits with tea and coffee. Bathroom goodies essential when you forget like I had!
Landlord & landlady very pleasant. Breakfast very good quality & any request catered for.
Asking for towels several times & receiving two damp bath towels. No hand towels or bath mat. Concerned about the cleanliness of the bathroom, large spiders web & spider in corner of bathroom.
Relaxed atmosphere, friendly people. Didn't have dinner there so can't comment but breakfast was good.
Smokers under bedroom window. Smoke drifted in and noisy till pub closed.
Friendly staff. Food well presented Room comfortable
Cleanliness of pub toilets poor. Room not serviced during our stay, tea, coffee not replenished. Evening menu - many items not available - disappointing.
Another good example of a traditional inn with very good food, and rooms with good beds and very good bathrooms. Has good off street parking lot. The regulars have a nice friendly assortment of dogs, and are amiable folks.
