Offering a restaurant, Rose of York is located in the leafy suburban town of Richmond upon Thames.
Score from 107 reviews Good
The whole facility is old and run-down. Even new paint, carpets and showers would be a HUGE improvement.
Location was good for me.
Bathroom is bit narrow and also need bit update bathroom also repaint too so it's nothing to bad to be honest :)
It's beautiful town and easy to access to shopping and train too
With an old fashioned TV that didn't work, light fittings hanging off the wall, breakfast that consisted of 3 own brand cereals with bread only in request, I would never stay in this hotel again
The bed was comfortable and the room was warm
The shared showers on the first floor are boiling hot (I burnt my foot) and therefore unusable. There is no wifi available in the room. The whole place needs to be cleaned and carpets need replacing.
The location is great, close to the tube and Richmond town centre.
Overall the rooms are shabby and dated with very, very ugly decor in some. The carpet in the room we stayed in last was totally covered in all manner of dark stains and the shower was either burning hot or icy. The t.v didn't work either. There was no wifi in any of the rooms we stayed in. There is a wifi "lounge" room downstairs to use instead- not handy - with slow to average speeds. This place needs a LOT of work.
Excellent location near the train and Richmond village. The price is one of the cheapest around Richmond. I have stayed here 4-5 times and always sleep really, really well here for some reason.
Old fashioned but we didn't expect modern luxury for the price we were paying. Breakfast could have been more imaginitive
Conveniently placed and room was large and comfortable with plenty of tea/coffee. There was also a guest off road parking area. .
Cleanliness and nice receptionist
Bathroom was unclean and had mold and limescale in the shower. The shower constantly dripped boiling water which made showering tricky as the one constant drip burnt you when showering. The duvet was wafer thin and the mattress was uncomfortable. No wifi in rooms. Breakfast vary basic. Cleanlyness of room was poor. Very dusty all round. Carpet very tatty.
Location and staff were lovely.
The shower on the floor was not working, I had the choice between to hot or nothing.
Room with good size, clean and quite, all a little bit old-fashioned. The area is very nice, a busy shopping street is very close, public transit only steps away. For the money I had to spend was this hotel a very good choice!
The décor is very tatty and the breakfast, though being described as an 'extensive continenental' was very poor and very basic comprising of fruit juice, cereals, coffee etc from a machine, yoghurts and toast which you had to request. No croissant, meats, cheese etc!
Location and rooms available on arrival at 11.30
Wifi only available if sitting next to reception desk. Very small double bed for 6'2 husband.
Short walk to all the lovely shops in Richmond. On bus route for Kew Gardens.
Cracked plaster, loose tiles, ancient TV. Wifi downstairs only.
Comfortable room with full en-suite, lowest price in the area.
Staff are not particularly friendly Rooms are dirty Bathrooms are dirty and the showers are not good WiFi only in the lounge
Filth. Filth everywhere. Never thoght, that it is possible to find such a horrible place in Western Europe.
the hotel itself. We stayed in room 8, which was on the very top floor. The room was dirty, windows unclean, carpet dusty. It was by far the most disgusting place I've ever stayed in and I've been in some dives. But the pièce de résistance has to be the en-suite bathroom. The shower was covered in various colours of mould, black in the gaps and green on the glass and tiles. It was also impossible to set at a correct temperature and intermittently went from freezing cold to scolding - so bad that my co-sharing guest preferred to not bother and washed in a nearby restaurant toilet! The floor under the toilet was covered in a sticky lino. I think I can guess what made the lino sticky but I won't write it, in case you, the reader, are eating. Having seen the room, we did not bother checking out the hotel's facilities and skipped the breakfast, despite it being free-of-charge. It's a real shame really. The hotel would once have been a beautiful landmark in the town, but it's been left to fall into a state of great disrepair. I'm honestly shocked that they are allowed to sell rooms to the public. On our way out in the morning we passed the rooms on the lower floor which were propped open with chairs, presumably to air them and not simply to create a fire hazard. They did seem altogether nicer. I'm guessing this is why the hotel had managed to get a score above 3 on the ratings website.
The location and parking. It's situated in a great spot in Richmond near the train station, shopping street, restaurants and bars. There are also a number of free parking spots, most of which are covered and seem fairly secure.
Not enough on offer for breakfast
If you want a cheap and cheerful hotel for the rugby, you can't go wrong
No wifi in the room, everything besides the mattress was old & worn, but for £40 per night you couldn't really ask for much more.
The bed was comfortable & the location was great.
Not too civil reception. Thin walls between rooms. Non working TV.
Low cost. Ground floor room. Good location for transport. Breakfast included.
Bathrooms really need updating and cleaning. Shower was non existent, ended up having a bath and held shower head over for washing hair.... Not ideal when you are a shower person.
It was handy for all travel/connections. Staff friendly. Good location for either take away food or pub grub. Pub opposite great. Sheets and towels spotless.
No toast in the morning and shower head was missing in the bathroom!
Location was good
Bathroom: I prefer my floor tiles to be stuck to the floor. All in dire need of update.
Location, bed, free parking. value for money.
For a short stop over the hotel had everything we needed and a nice clean comfy bed.
Total lack of investment in decoration, upkeep, maintenance
Staff tried their best
Wi-fi not in rooms---only sweet preserves for the toast-- would have liked a savoury option- cheese spread or marmite for example.
The location to the station --- comfy room--friendly staff--luggage store- coffee in room and breakfast.
