Poor wifi signal, hotel is looking tired, could do with face lift.
excellent freshly cooked breakfast
The friendly informal atmosphere, the gardens and the excellent breakfast.
Carpets were a bit dated and grubby in communal areas. We have a daughter with a disability and if she had been with us it would have been difficult for her to access the dining room.
The staff were extremely helpful in moving us on request, they went to the trouble of preparing another double room as a twin for us, which put them to some trouble, but they did this with great courtesy, and as a result we had a very comfortable stay and a good night's sleep. They said they would look into the banging door, so I expect it won't be a problem for the next occupants. The breakfast was excellent, and we think all in all, good value for money.
We had room 7 which was next to a fire door in the coridoor that banged very loudly whenever anyone went through it, which was vey frequently in our case, so loudly that the room vibrated with the noise.
Mid week stay and late check-in so fairly quiet, which meant less staff around to cater for your needs when a double bed was allocated instead of twin.
Lovely location and setting
Bar too noisy Rooms need a facelift
good food; helpful, friendly staff; attractive landscaped gardens; quiet, attractive, but accessible location
there were no significant shortcomings
only a one night stay the hotel and grounds situated in a nice part of leicestershire. The staff were polite, the food excellent, the room good and clean. the bed was comfortable and a good night sleep was taken. the surprise party left the birthday girl speechless
Beautiful location. Lovely gardens.. Would have liked room on ground floor as looked so nice with patio doors overlooking gardens.
Both asleep quite early, just after midnight heard sound of door being opened, thought it was next door. No, it was our room door, no knock at all, just opened door and walked in " oh sorry" he said, wrong room, I though there was a problem??". Must have been the night porter. Asked at reception next morning - no record of any problem from night before. Never happened previously at any hotel. Breakfast - 09.00am - no eggs, no mushrooms, no beans left. Checkout time way too early - 10.30am.
Location and grounds
Price Basic room
Good breakfast. Quality coffee, sausages etc. Big comfortable bed and nice bed linen. The younger staff were sweet and helpful, but seemed rather overstretched esp at breakfast.
Whole place is shabby and institutional looking. Horrible patterned carpets, endless fire doors, 1970s style bar etc Furniture in our bedroom was chipped and worn. Light bulbs not working, bathroom door handle coming off (although fixed when we reported it). This hotel is way past its best. Is mainly used for conferences apparently - and looks like it.
Evenings food was excellent. Excellent size bedroom, lovely views and clean bathroom.
The initial decor of the reception was basic and not particularly welcoming. Areas within the hotel looked like they were in need of some TLC
Nice room, comfortable bed and beautiful grounds. Helpful staff.
Chaotic breakfast - everything ran out and only replenished gradually so not all items for cooked breakfast available at any one time. Disappointing end to a lovely stay.
Staff were help full and pleasant, location quite good and on my stay there was no excessive noise.
Had to repair toilet seat before using, shower was Brocken and unable to use,old beds were left in front of French doors of the bedroom, did advise reception in the morning. Wifi in hotel was not very good but better than others
Staff food good location
bit loud at night had a wedding on
Room only ok
Have stayed here quite often, as a single female, the hotel has a very safe and secure feel. The bedroom was well fitted with good modern bathroom. Room service was good, quite quick and good value.
No one on reception when I arrived, had to wait 5 minutes and the breakfast service was the same. Also there appeared to be beds and mattresses stacked up in some of the hall ways!
The location was great for me and the area was lovley The grounds were very well kept and it was nice to sit in the garden with a morning coffee and even evening with the summer sun setting.
On the poor side I would have liked the staff to be alittle more attentive in the restaurant and bar they tended to run off for a group chat in the kitchens ... Also the overall facilities of the rooms and cleaning was below standard ie someone else's nail clippings on the bedside table! lightbulbs not working, no secure safe in the room...and a complete change of our entire bed 'during' our stay seemed a bit unneccessary maybe waiting till we had actually checked out would have been better..! That said I hear the hotel is due to expand and rooms will be renovated throughout but assume that may take quite some time...
Better wifi than most places Nice grounds Good brekkie
Notified them was for our anniversary so expected something even if small, didn't get anything! Pricy for what it is... Around same price for a Marriott; Had to travel few miles for a takeaway
Bed very comfortable. Breakfast was good. Beautiful gardens. Friendly staff. Great location. Very clean.
Too much bedroom furniture which could do with updating. Would be nice to be served breakfast rather than buffet but that is a very minor detail!
Great location, within easy walking distance to Quorn town centre, fantastic gardens with 9 hole green, although waiting staff mainly student age they were very attentive and polite.
very basic and dull reception, not representative of the hotel, lady on reception had quite abrupt attitude, only other fault was the quilt cover displayed signs of mould
Beautiful gardens , quiet location great value.
Relaxing and wonderful location
Loved the gardens. The honeymoon suite and the special rate given to us for that room. The night staff were excellent and very accommodating.
The ground floor rooms were a little tired in appearance. Little dated. The ceilings in the corridors especially needed some TLC. A little shocked at paying so much VAT. Probably didn't read the small print.
Room was of a good size (ground floor with double doors leading out in to the gardens), staff were polite ad helpful, food ordered via room service was yummy and portion sizes were more than adequate
The only thing that let my stay down was that we arrived for breakfast 30 minutes before it closed and there was next to nothing left (it was buffet-style) and what was there was all dried up from the heat lamp. My other half managed to salvage some mushrooms and bacon but I only had toast and left very hungry...
