Nothing to dislike
We liked the view of the River Wear, the attention and friendliness of the staff.
Charging you £7 a day to park your car on a free piece of land beside the hotel.
Great location for Durham City centre.
Breakfast menu was OK but not the best we have had.
The hotel was welcoming, clean and the swimming pool excellent
A minor thing, the ice machine didn't work
Upgrade, comfy beds, good location
Rooms overlooking the river can hear the nightclubs e.g. loveshack.
The position and access of the hotel to the surrounding sights in the area were very good. The staff in the hotel were very helpful and always had a smile.
The car park spaces are small for the modern cars.
All of the staff were both friendly and very helpful; the hotel restaurant was as good as an a la carte choice; the room was very comfortable and the location re the rest of durham was very good
There were a couple of very minor niggles with the room - which we mentioned when we checked out and which were accepted as helpful feedback
The rooms were well equipped with comfortable beds and good bathrooms.
Quite impersonal. Had to pay £7 to park the car. Difficult to find, confusing road systems. Very expensive restaurant.
1 - Cost of the room 2 - Did not include breackfast 3 - Paying £ 7.00 for parking
The cost of overnight parking The uncomfortable bed Noisy air conditioning Poor room service..... Inaccessible wifi
Close proximity to centre of town. Large comfortable bed. Room with a view of river and castle. Free Wifi. Paid £7 for 24 hours parking which we felt was reasonable for city centre.
Did not have breakfast as we thought it was expensive. Very good value breakfasts available in town.
The friendliness of the staff. Being able to park. Having nespresso machine in the room.
Not being told that if I paid by debit card I would have to pay everything on the spot (room service, drinks...) Only getting one glass of wine when I had ordered two. Second one arrived a bit later. Not having a mini bar. Not being asked what I wanted to drink for breakfast and having to ask to be given coffee cups/tea cups
Great location for shopping and walking. Up-to-date, classy and well-kept interiors, pleasant and helpful staff, very clean room with good facilities and tasty nespresso coffees. There was also a chicken wandering around in the car park, which caused a bit of fun......
There wasn't very much that went wrong during our stay. To be honest, I'm being very picky here to provide an overall view of the hotel. Here it comes. Ready? Well, during breakfast, there were no jams or marmalades. That's it...just honey, which was actually very nice.
Very convenient location, kind staff, lovely breakfast.
Wonder why the window was that dirty. Coudn't see the views although if one can see any, it would have been a boring car parking...
More or less the location.
Disinterested employees only going through the motions, filthy carpets, poorly cleaned and hot rooms. A tired over priced hotel, with nothing special.
Having to pay for parking was bordering on extortion and cheapened what was otherwise an excellent hotel
Excellent location, size of rooms, cleanliness
price - I paid GBP 155 for 1 night and that is just too much - had no choice as other hotels were fully booked - in the past I paid GBP 85 at the same hotel which is a much fairer reflection of value for money...
Very slow restaurant service both at breakfast and when using Felini restaurant for evening meal. I believe this was due to insufficient experienced members of staff. We also had a problem with room servicing as we returned to our room at around 3.00pm to rest before going out for the evening to find the room had not been made up, we were told this could be done anytime up until 8.00pm in the evening. Not really the standardwe expected.
Has to wait to get breakfast and when we eventually got to go in, was hardly any people eating but all tables needed cleaning and full of dirty plates, same in bar area, could get a clean table for dirty plates and glasses.
Sorry wrote In wrong box look in liked box.
Location Convenience Good Facilities
Breakfast Acceptable Dinner - Quality and Presentation of food bad - needs immediate attention
Clean, central, staff very polite and helpful. Very relaxing.
Sat night noisey . Room warm and air conditioning not great.
Price £192 for room only no breakfast
Clean and modern with friendly staff
Asked for a double bed and got two singles pushed together
A good modern hotel, just nothing special to justify the price.
Dinner was delayed due to waitress dropping tray which in itself was not an issue, and the senior staff present apologised and said that we could have a complimentary drink. In the end only I had an extra drink but it was added to the bill anyway. By this time I had paid and wasn't going to make a fuss about £4 but it did annoy me!
my view of the river not too far to walk into town but not good for people with disabilities Clean and relatively quiet (apart from our last night)
no comfortable headrest chairs One of our rooms wasn't ready when we arrived They made mistakes with the room rate/breakfast inclusion There are no biscuits provided
