The staff were amazing - nothing was too much trouble. Lovely atmosphere in the bar overlooking the Thames. Loved the roof top terrace it was a shame it was a bit too cold for anyone to be able to sit up there. Wonderful hotel - the room was very luxurious, fantastic walk in shower in a gorgeous bathroom. Loved the lighting and the way the room was decorated.

Large bedrooms with interesting layout. Comfortable beds. Excellent, simple to use showers. Frustratingly subdued lighting beloved of boutique hotels. Outlook not great unless you try for a river view but not an issue as, to me, this is only really a brief stop-over hotel. Pleasant position on riverside. Adjacent heliport not a problem. Only one 'copter took off which was exciting for the grandchildren. They don't fly during the night. Advice.....If you are just going to the other side of the river, for instance, to Knightsbridge, King's Road, museums etc, get a bus or taxi as it's a waste of time getting the shuttle to Clapham Junction. Reception polite and helpful but so low-key it might be interpreted in quite the opposite way. The breakfast was fresh and eggs were cooked to order rather than sitting in a leathery mass. However, restaurant food in the evening was tasteless and over priced. Nevertheless, when we sent a dish back it was replaced without demur. Warning.......there's a plate glass window with no threshold markers inside the cigar bar and I walked straight into it as had another customer. Very painful and of course, dangerous.

Staff were incredibly friendly and the shuttle service was excellent. Spa was a little basic, however, the rooms were spacious, clean and modern. The restaurant food was reasonable as we received a 50 per cent discount. The food was just as you would expect from a five star hotel. Was able to watch helicopters take off and land from hotel room. A nice, relaxed atmosphere. I did call a few times prior to my travel to check that I wouldn't need my husband's credit card at check in as I was travelling first. I was assured that I wouldn't need it as I had booked online. They had made a note of all my calls. Upon arrival, no note was made of my calls so perhaps better communication and consistency when dealing with bookings. Got mobile stolen from nearby location. Wasn't a fan of surrounding area, however, the shuttle service softened this negative. The service runs from 9am to 9pm and we frequently called to be picked up from Clapham Junction and Clapham Common. I needed to attend course in Parson's Green so I was able to walk along the Thames from hotel. It took me 35-40 mins to get to New Kings Road.

This hotel was a very great experience for us. Loved all the hi fi gadgets installed in the rooms, valet service was quite a necessity as there were no parking spaces for residents which I did find should have been included... But overall this is by far one of the best we have been to.. The rooms were always scented discreetly which makes it feel fresh... Loved it , we dint have to use the shuttle service so would not be able to comment... Enjoooyyy, Nah nothing worth writing about :)

My husband and I were extremely happy with our stay the Hotel Rafayel. The room was luxurious and the bathroom very spacious with a fabulous shower. We choose the Rafayel because of its location and the free shuttle service to Clapham Junction (to catch the overground train) was a bonus and it was perfect for our needs.

“On arrival, we were upgraded to an executive room which was a pleasant surprise. The bathroom was exceptionally well laid out - there is never enough space to put things in hotel bathrooms but this one had plenty of space. The bed was very comfortable and the room was immaculately clean. The staff member who checked us in could not have been more respectful and polite.” Joanne, Cambridge |
