Friendly, helpful staff. Attention to detail.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. My pet dog was warmly welcomed and provided with a mattress and feeding bowls. The hotel is in a good location between Whitby and Sandsend with some easily accessible walks.
Breakfast buffet too close to reception desk and door in the Keep, with people walking past.
We liked everything the hotel offerd they stuff could not have been more helpful we really enjoyed our stay ther and will certainly be going back
Nothing not to like
Pleasant set-up in the dog-friendly courtyard accommodation, with very friendly staff and some good food.
Surprisingly no specific facility for screening of rugby international/similar events and poor communications between hotel and spa staff.
Staff were all lovely and attentive The location is perfect walked along the beach to Whitby a long walk but beautiful and bracing ! Sandsend is within easy walking distance The spa is a great way to relax after a day sight seeing
White Company toiletries in room I prefer these to products in the Spa. Room was beautiful lovely comfy bed and linen.Staff are exceptional !! Breakfast selection was delicious .
Wardrobe rather small and coat hooks for outdoor coats would be helpful as room looked clutted .
The location of the hotel, the high standard of service from the staff, and the super large bedroom and bathroom, and facilities within the bedroom.
We booked half Board, but if we had desert we had to pay for it, a little odd when it should be included. Drinks as usual for a hotel of this standard were expensive.
The friendly, helpful staff.
Everything, particularly the fabulous staff.
slate plates ? why not use proper plates ?
Location and interior of hotel
Poor drop of at hotel in rain. Poor menu and small portion size
nice to have a great spa at the end of the day
nowhere to hang wet coats - no bedroom and bathroom hooks
Being located in the Keep was something of a disadvantage if wishing to use the facilities of the Hall
Lovely hotel and fabulous food
The whole experience - except as noted across the way. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was very good and gardens just superb, my thanks for all the gardeners hard work!
Our room Y117, opened onto an enclosed patio - no view. Would prefer to stay in room with a view of gardens on my next visit. Thought room could have been larger but maybe the other rooms are.
Clean and modern with friendly staff.
Being moved from main hall and having no hot water.
great staff great rooms though the rooms at the keep are better than the one we had at the hall
last year we stayed in the keep but this was the first time in the hall and for me as a disabled person the fact that my car was parked away from the hotel was not conveinent, and access not very good. the hotel is to far out so you have to order taxis and its was chaos - not the hotels fault i know but you can no longer find street or car park parking in whitby, maybe the hotel should think about a small shuttle bus?
Beautiful hotel, very relaxing & tranquil atmosphere. Stayed in the Keep the staff were fantastic very friendly in a genuine manner. Will definitely return
Location Grounds and garden
We were in the keep which was quite a walk to the main building. The pool was crowded and the changing area was inadequate. I was sick over night- they seemed uninterested as to the cause perhaps being their food!
The rooms, gardens, friendly staff and location.
Not much not too like, only thing really staff in bar did not come over to take our drink order think we were forgotten.
Niggly wait for a fried egg at breakfast.
It was very quiet and relaxing, the staff were very friendly and attentive and the room was very spacious, comfortable and clean. Dinner was excellent and breakfast was also very tasty and fresh. It is pleasant to walk to Sandsend or along the beach to Whitby and back to come back for a lovely hot cup of Yorkshire tea in your room.
We were locked out of our room twice due to the battery in the door running down, once in the evening after dinner and once again after breakfast in spite of reminding them of the problem before breakfast. It involved replacing 3 AAA batteries in the door. It's slightly inconvenient having to walk to the main building for dinner from the Keep if it is dark and raining, although you could request a buggy to drive you and the staff are very willing. Drive could have a wider walkway for pedestrians.
