Just off the A1 and less than 3.2 km from Grantham Railway Station and the town centre, the hotel offers great value, with free parking and spacious, comfortable and modern rooms.
Score from 286 reviews Fabulous
Situated in the historic 12th century market town of Grantham, this hotel was originally a gentleman's residence and Hunting Lodge.
Score from 112 reviews Good
Idylically situated in the south-west corner of Lincolnshire, Britain's oldest inn, The Angel and Royal Hotel, is an historic hotel that's said to have hosted 7 kings over 600 hundred years.
Score from 178 reviews Very good
Just 5 minutes’ walk from Grantham’s town centre, this charming Grade II listed Georgian townhouse offers comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation, at great value-for-money rates.
Score from 206 reviews Very good
Best thing was the room , warm and cosy but large
Only had breakfast in the restaurant but the quality and choice of the food was not very good.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The position of the hotel being just off the A1 was good.
The bed was the worst I have slept on for a long time.
Food and staff
Some of the fixtures and fittings eg in bathroom need re furbished
Friendly staff Good location
The welcome wan't great when we arrived. Our room wasn't ready and we told to wait with no indication of how long this might be. The hotel tried to be too many things and as a consequence didn't do any of at well as it could. We booked it as a spa, and it was OK, but it was also a conference centre and a family hotel and inevitably each area detracted from the others.
The breakfast was good, the hotel was ok,
They originally checked us (a family of four) into a twin room with two single beds. When we changed rooms, they gave the keys to someone else, who then walked in on us. Two cups and sets of towels Tec provided.
Good breakfast, relaxing leisure pool, comfortable bed, good TV selection (including subtitles).
The beds were very uncomfortable and the rooms were a little cool
The staff were very good and nothing was too much trouble
Not sure how this is 4 star. It is dated and desperately needs a refurbishment. The location on an industrial estate should be made clear.
The staff make this hotel. Without them it would be as bad as it looks. The lasagna on the menu was the strangest but it was the tastiest I have ever had. The breakfast was good.
Rooms were very dark with no ceiling lighting. Difficult if your getting ready for a night out Disabled parking bay restricted by overgrowth of shrubbery reducing space
Staff were helpful & polite Food was excellent
found someones else's pants on bedroom floor, bulb not working in one lamp and toilet handle covered in masking tape/mastik glue.
staff very friendly and helpful
The restaurant for evening meal. Granted, we stayed on Easter Monday and the hotel was quiet so I don't know if the full kitchen staff were on but 3 of our 4 meals were overcooked. Edible but not enjoyable for the price (2 fillet steaks and a kids chicken goujons). A couple of free drinks were offered by way of compensation.
The location (handy for Grantham and surrounding areas) and facilities (pool, gym, etc) were excellent for the price we paid as a family of four. The breakfast had a good selection.
Room was freezing and the duvet was very thin. Gym is great but would be better to be open earlier and later. I work 9am-9pm and it's always closes when I would want to use it!
Cleanliness, friendly staff
bit of a wait for our room
very helpful duty manager and very good food in the restaurant.
Cold bedroom on arrival and no Caffe Latte available at breakfast
Friendly and welcoming staff. Quiet and clean room. Very good shower. Would stay there again, Exellent value for bed and full breakfast
We have stayed a few times at this Hotel , staff are always very friendly, food good and we sleep well Thank you the Urban !
staff on reception helpful. The leisure staff lovely. .. dinner and breakfast staff fab... its so lovely to have friendly staff ... makes the stay more enjoyable!!! FAMILY
Staff really helpful
Good food and faciliities
the wedding party noise was unbearable till late. smeared pictures, dirty tiles in bathroom
comfort of beds
We liked everything .
Breakfast wonderful.Swimming pool appreciated. Beds very comfortable and welcome to grandparents looking after a 5 year old!!
The bathroom was shabby, floor tiles cracked, bath chipped. Would have liked a rubber bathmat as I am handicapped (hence downstairs room). We had to purchase some scales to weigh our luggage which we have donated to reception for other guests in our predicament. Water didn't seem to have a temperature cut off which, we thought, was essential in hospitality. it would have been very easy to burn ourselves quite badly.
The staff were excellent, not a bad word could be said against them. The breakfasts were the best we've had in a very long time.
Staff Service and bed (too soft)
Nothing at all
No caffeine free drinks option in room.
Nice large room in convenient location.
