Very welcoming and helpful receptionist . Great room , sea view.
Fantastic hotel and value for money
The bed was very comfortable and location great as its in the centre
The staff on arrival were not very helpful, basically told us our room number and that was all the information we were given, wee were not made aware of the facility's in the hotel and staff were so uninterested they did not say "enjoy your stay"I got the feeling they were disinterested generally in any of the customers, went to the bar for a drink on arrival and waited ages and we then gave up trying to order ordering another drink as the bar tender never reappeared, very disappointed in the customer service at this hotel
excellent location good food
bathroom very tired and smelt musty
The location was very handy
The hotel could do with a bit of tlc, quite shabby and run down in places
reception area breakfast alcohol prices ok evening meal
rooms a bit small but was a single slightly tired decor in rooms
Size of room, threadbare carpet, dirty walls & service at breakfast
We liked the spaciousness of our room, tidy and clean, and quiet. The leisure facilities were excellent, and the swimming pool much bigger than other hotels we've visited.
It wasn't easy to park our car in a very small car park, and took some time to ensure it wasn't blocking other cars.
view of car park, couldn't really be helped though!
Location of the hotel, is very favourable, stones throw from all amenities ex, shops, pubs, Gaitey Theatre. Restaurants to visit in particular are Smiths which is literally next door to Mercure Hotel, Vito`s Italian restaurant (near Ayr train station) is worth a visit, there is ample choice for all tastes. Robbie Burns cottage is 5 minutes or so in the car from Hotel. The sea front is rugged with some very open beaches to explore. Breakfast, is very tasty, full Scottish, cereals, porridge, fresh fruit, fruit juice and dairy produce for the health conscience. All staff very approachable and pleasant and work very hard indeed (ad hoc) comes to mind. Well worth it for the money, and I would return and recommend the hotel to any who asked. P.S. My wife and I were invited to a private New Years bash at no extra cost, a very kind and very enjoyable experience by the generous people of the hotel.
Sadly, the staff were run of their feet at times and had to multi task. The reception bar was not manned as he or she, were in the kitchen, or restaurant, receiving diners, and taking food orders and only when they had finished their duties did we get served, however this was not a issue as there was a pub next door and it was a lot cheaper than the hotel. Be careful when you buy your drinks from one hotel bartender in particular I said to him after ordering a round of drinks " and your own" the bandit took a hefty £1.40p. Now I`m from Manchester and the bartenders from my neck of the woods, would take 20-30 pence, but not this Dick Turpin. I digress , maybe I`m out of touch with hotel protocol. Overall a fantastic break. P.S. Hotel Management, thick bread for toast please, no hotel I have been in uses thin bread for toast it was like chewing cardboard.
the rooms and staff in the hotel were good.
we were purposely at hotel because it had the spa facilities. when we got there we were all disappointed to find out that they were not open on our first day.
Staff at reception couldnt be bothered with guests.parking at hotel is a joke had to get refund as couldnt get space in hotel car park.door for bathroom was to big cupboard door was hanging of its hindges.leisure facilities was closed so couldnt use them for our stay.breakfast was ok.wouldnt recommend to anyone glad to get out of there.paid over the odds for a night stay and breakfast. Would never go back.
Dinning room and bar. Swimming pool
Noise at night. Party going on also.
Friendly staff location and comfort

Ideal location and a fantastic view of Arran.
Hotel was a wee bit tired,
Room was basic
location and breakfast was ok
We stayed 2 nights and room was not serviced at all. Only got apology when I complained
wow it was good
Help from reception was good as I needed some emails printed off and it was no problem.
I liked the Staff Food the Pool and all its facilities,
the sea view was lovely, but the window sill on the inside of the window was very dirty like years of dirt
Reception and bar staff very friendly and helpful. Room was very spacious with a good view. Close to town centre for shopping. Parking was a bit confusing to start with, but the staff soon sorted us out.
Pool attendant was clearly anxious to get home, and had already emptied the jacuzzi before we entered the health club at 6.20pm (closing time was 7.30pm). Reception/bar/restaurant all quite cold, although the heaters did help. Bed was just a double. In such a large room a king size would have been better (which is what we, and a lot of people these days, are used to).
I liked the cosines of the hotel. Everywhere we went it was cosy. It was a horrible day outside. And we actually just sat in the comfort of our room on a Saturday afternoon. the location is excellent. 2 mins from the centre of Ayr high street. 2mins from Gaiety theatre? Just central for everywhere. Prices very reasonable for such a big hotel. Have booked a weekend away again in January. Liked it so much. Left the car in the car park all weekend because everywhere was right on our doorstep. Highly recommend it.
just the welcome you get from the staff at front desk and the warm welcoming atmosphere of the hotel it's self we have always had a great time staying in the Mercure and will be returning again.
