It was my partners birthday, we have stayed here a few times, hotel is close to all amenities, staff are very friendly and helpful, before we arrived I called the hotel to ask if they could decorate our room with banners and balloons which they did, brekfast was good, the only 1 thing I have to say is that there was no hot water in the morning due to the fire alarm being set off the previous night. We stayed in room 665 which had excellent views of the water.

The hotel is very handy if your planning a day at ayr races or fancy a day at the beach with the family. The staff at serving breakfast can be very rude at times, i asked one of them for a pot of coffee , he replied i only have one pair of hands and steamed off in a huff. Also dissapointed there was no hot water on sunday morning and took hours to repair.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Food delicious. Great view of sea. Unfortunately, the great sea view was hampered by a massive bird poo down two windows which my hubby cleaned. On running the hot tap in the bath, being six floors up took a little time to get the hot water out the tap and when it finally did, it was slow and brown. Had to wait a good while for it to clear. Both toilet roll holders fell out their casings, but not off the wall. However, all in all, it was a nice clean fresh room and ive stayed in worse, believe me. on a final note and one i was a bit disappointed in, in my initial booking email i noted that the reason for our visit was to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary... not even a bottle of wine in the room was left for us...sad !!

Staff were very pleasant and helpful especially at reception desk. Leisure centre was very good with good, if small pool, sauna, steam room, exercise facilities etc but in need of upgrade as some items were out of order and in need of repair. Hotel room allocated had obviously been used by a smoker - reported to receptionist who dealt wth issue very efficiently and without being asked allocated us another room. Annoying as hotel literature states that charge of £75 will be levied if any guest smokes in the rooms. We were provided with only one small bottle of shampoo and one of shower gel for a four night stay - despite reference to provision of toiletries on the website. Service in dining room was poor especially at dinner when we were 'forgotten' about. Also although breakfast was very good with good choice, there was delay in replenishing foodstuffs apparently due to poor managemnet and/or insufficient staff.

I loved the Swimming Pool, jacuzzi etc. Nice clean hotel, good value for money. Would definately go back. Didn't have any Sambuca, was told low on stock due to Ayr National. Bar tender at that time wasn't very polite. Prebooked Golf Simulator on a Thursday for the Friday was told £6 per hour. Played 2 hours and was charged £24. Got our money back but should have been told proper price. Apparently its £12 per hour weekends

Loved the fact it was so central to all amenities. Also the leisure facilities were fabulous we really enjoyed the pool and jaccuzzi. The hotel was great value for money and we would certainly recommend it to our friends. The only thing we didn't like was the pool staff. Not friendly at all!

The Staff and the location were excellant. The rooms were modern and stylish, although the public sectors of the hotel (bar, toilets etc) were a little bit tired and could do with an update.

Very good value for money. Room clean. Having a pool & spa was great. Towels were a bit threadbare & bathroom light took a long time to come on but overall enjoyed stay and would come back.

Cenral location, convenient and free parking Until recently, a Ramada Jarvis hotel. Sold, I suspect, because a refurb didn't make economic sense in the current financial climate. Room was ok but bathroom was well past it's best. I only saw two staff all night so there was a wait for everything. Food was at best, average but over-priced. Breakfast was fine with attentive service. The value starts diminishing when you add it all up but I use it for business not pleasure.

Not a lot, the leisure centre was about the best part of the hotel and facilities. The bathroom did not have any ventilation therefore the bathroom smelt of damp and mould. The bedroom windows needed to be sealed and the wind howled through them during high winds. Door needed to be rehung as most of the doors on our floor had to be slammed to close them properly. The food at the restaurant was very poor, my husband's main course was overcooked and dry, my sweet contained nuts and this was not stated on the menu nor is it a sweet that usually contains nuts. Staff had very little interest in our welfare.

We liked our room very much. We enjoyed the location. We would stay again as it was very good value. I didnt like the offer on the dinner menu the 3 courses for twenty two pounds. This menu was not very inviting and the choice was quite poor. No one told us of the offer of the inclusive dinner menu we only knew about it when we decided to order off that menu and not take the 3 course option.

The mercure hotel was a great hotel for location in ayr town and the beach. Both beach and town were easily accessible from the hotel. The decor of the room was very relaxing. The tv charges were a bit excessive. A little biscuit with the tea and coffee would have been nice. The room could have been cleaner. The window sill was quite dirty and the net curtain could have been fresher. The shelf behind the tv and under the mirror was very dusty. I,m quite sure if I had said to staff about these issues they would have been dealt with but we were only there for one night.

It was good location and you have also got use of the lesiure faccilities. Well there was some one in my room when I arrived they put some 1 in my room without transfering me to another room lucky enough there was a room availible the receptionist at the time was helpful and did try to sort the problem although a man walking into a room with woman could have caused alot of problems as they were getting ready at the time I walked in.

I stayed there last weekend with my partner. Had a great w.end, the staff are very friendly and helpful. I asked to change rooms on our first night there (due to there being black mildew in our tiolet) this was no problem to the staff. They upgraded us the next day (couldnt do it that night as the hotel was full). Great laugh with the guys that worked in the bar at night Andy and John. The other staff were very good too, Would definately stay there again
