Mercure Bolton West HotelManchester Rd, BL6 5RU Blackrod (Show map) Pleasant, Score from 29 reviews“The size and modernity of the room was better than expected, as I had read some reviews which disputed this, the check out time on sunday was 12 o'clock which was fantastic! The size and modernity of the room was better than expected, as I had read some reviews which disputed this, the check out time on sunday was 12 o'clock which was fantastic! There were 2 weddings on when we were there but this did not have any effect on our personal stay which was a 60th party close by. The leisure facilities were larger than some hotels I have stayed in and clean and modern and the staff were polite, informed and very helpful when needed We had originally booked into the Ramada Jarvis Hotel Bolton on Manchester rd, and not having a SatNav, had used our a-z map to get there, big mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ramada had changed it's name the week after to the Mercure Bolton West Hotel with a different address, what should have been a simple journey, took us 3 times as long and 3 times as much petrol to find the place, not a good start to our weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Staff are very pleasant. Breakfast very good and service excellent. With improvements it has the potential to be a very good hotel and in turn could be recommended to other travellers. There were no pillow protectors on. Towels were not changed and bathmat was only available on request at the desk (a note to this effect on tiles of bathroom - which was no good when you were actually in the shower). There wasn't a bedside cabinet (which I think is important) and no alarm clock. The radiator was so hot you couldn't touch it and couldn't be controlled by thermostat. The key card stopped working and when complained to desk was told it terminated at mid-day since Mercure took over, even though you had not checked out. The price of breakfast turned out to be more expensive than the receipt we received on the internet.

Location / facilities I booked the hotel on 1/10/11 under ramada Jarvis and at no point between the 1st and 15th Oct when I stayed did anyone advise me the hotel had changed ownership and became Mercure Hotels - not Ramada Jarvis. I spent over an hour looking for a ramada Jarvis Hotel not a mercure hotel. It did not impact the hotel but did spoil our planned afternoon of pampering in the gym / sauna etc before our evening out as we wre then running too late to enjoy the facilitities we had booked the hotel for.

Good price on booking.com, good pool and other facilites. Large rooms and a good sized free car park. Rooms need some work, damp on the roof and large section of mould above the headboard, in general needs a good re fit through out - carpets, lick of paint new funiture. to charge the turn up and pay price is asking way to much for what you get. if your staying round bolton defo use the De Vere Venues Whites much cleaner and the view is top.

Good location, decent breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms. Ample free parking. Although wifi is free in your room when staying in an upgraded exec room. It is only free via the tv and there is no access code for your laptop. The only plave you can get free wifi is in the bar. Check what you are charged for breakfast as it may come up more on the bill. Rooms are too warm and there is no air con facility.

Easy to find and convenient for the Reebok Stadium. The rooms were dated and the bathroom had lots of stains. A tired looking building. The price was quite high considering the standard of the accommodation but would be worth it if it is on sale.

The swimming pool was lovely and warm and not too crowded. The twin room very adequate and comfortable. We stayed at the hotel for a function we attended there. We were very dissapointed with the food and service. The food was not very nice and served cold on cold plates!

The helpfulness of the staff and their responsiveness to our needs The bathroom floor - why refurbish a bathroom and leave the original floor covering? Also, one of the walls in the living space had scuffmarks on it, doubtless done by kids with their feet but a quick lick of paint would easily have put that right.

Breakfast was good but not very warm. The room was quiet and warm on a cold night but there was no heating in the bathroom. The rooms are quite small and the corridors were cold. We stayed for a Christmas party but were not impressed.

cleanliness of room The mattress was very poor, springy and made for a bad nights sleep! Despite ringing in advance and being assured I would have an iron in my room I then had to ring twice after arrival for one to be brought to our room! On departure we were not asked how our stay was and no apology was given for state of mattress and very old fashioned bathroom - in dia need of renovation!
