Location One of my most bad experiences from all the hotels I have visited in my life a room with seaview on the first floor, future guests I advise not to accept this room, very noisy, 1 thing is for sure you will not sleep in this room Banging doors at the entry all the time, bar in under your room, shouting people, drunk guest banging on your door at 2 am in the night On busy road so you can hear the traffic all the time Breakfast is very poor, everything over cooked or finished The tv in the room is so small you can not enjoy watching the tv when you are in bed I will never return to this hotel

Secure parking on the premises, availability of a twin room, convenient location for shops and restaurants. Breakfast selection was limited and not as extensive as on the menu; parking was expensive.

The hotel room had a great view and was a great size it also had some wonderful little extra's that you don't get much of these days. The Hotel staff were friendly and very accommodating. I would recommend a stay and would be happy to return.

It was close enough to the centre, but without the noise. Easy walking distance to all attractions. Rooms were of a good standard. Good sea view. Easy location to get to, (on main road in). Breakfast was excellent, all freshly cooked, no dry scrambled egg, all idividually cooked to order, and plenty of variation. Staff were very helpful Drinks were a little pricey.

The location was ideal for the Brighton Centre. Breakfast. Fixtures ~& fittings. Decor throughout. View from bedroom window. The fact that all victorian features were covered with hardboard and painted shoddily!

Location. Shower in room 156 did not run hot water, room too small could hardly move around the bed. Could hear everyone else around us in other rooms, people snoring and doors banging. Bed too small. Breakfast a disaster lots of breakfasts being sent back that had the wrong food on or missing items of food. Not worth the money!!!!

Checking in staff was very good. Location is good Car parking is too expensive. Breakfast is too expensive. Prices seem to have increased quite a lot since The Mercure have taken over. On two nights we were disturbed by parties in rooms. The night before we were leaving we were awoken at 2.30 A.M. by very loud music and a full scale party in progress in the room above us. We complained to hotel staff, and although the music was "turned down" the partying continued until 6.30 A.M. needless to say we were very angry, upset and tired. Hotel staff should really have dealt with this more efficiently, one does not expect this sort of behaviour in a 4 star hotel. If we wanted to be kept up all night we would have stayed in the city centre.

Room was an ok size. On suite bathroom was quite nice if a bit compact. TV was a nice size although the TV signal was not great. Tea & coffee facilities adequate and a trouser press was available if required. Bed was very comfortable. Room looked as though it needed a new carpet and a lick of paint. Room seemed quite warm as if on the other side of the wall was a boiler and the window could not be opened more than a 3 or 4 inches.

Staff were very friendly. We had an excellent room (410) which was large and overlooked the seafront. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was good and set us up for the day. Air conditioning would have been good but not needed during the weekend when we stayed. Hotel is a little bit tired looking, certainly in the bar area, but it was clean and guests should remember that this is not a modern hotel.

Location, & convenience to other areas of Brighton. Parking facilities. Staff helpful & friendly Breakfast very good. Very tired - in serious need of makeover - nearing decadant. No drawer space in room. Very cramped room for double occupancy ( Room 156 ) - But single room I booked for elderly relative with single occupancy - much more space - why arrange that way ??? Family room I also booked was actually fine. Nearby fire door banging all night - almost - Really annoying !! Little sleep for two nights. Very stuffy room - even with window open and heating off. Shower unbelievably inadequate - even when it actually worked - did advised reception. Also - Why towels for one in double occupancy ? Bar - little imagination or choice (Noticed other guests mentioned same too) I heard x3 foreign visitors, separately, ask for a local beer ( None ) Took some frustration and time to find because I wan't advised of the name change to Mercure. Unless renovated - would not stay again. May as well pay the relatively small extra for The Grand and enjoy the stay in Brighton and get a good night's sleep !. ( Seriously considered moving ) Could not and would not recommend to anyone - despite friendly, helpful and attentive staff the place is way past it's use by date, for want of a better expression, and their genuinely enthusiastic efforts cannot hide that. I hope Mercure will rennovate the place.

“The view across the Marina to the sea was excellent. It was also very close to a number of retaurants - although most were chain restaurants. The noise from "revellers" was also a lot less than regularly experienced when staying in Brighton itself. Service and food quality were both excellent - staff were attentive. Car parking was free of charge in the Marina multi story car park- this is a £50 saving compared to central Brighton hotels.” Barry, Ashby De La Zouch |
