reception staff were very pleasant
Room was a long way from the reception area although the hotel was no where near full! ..and quite noisy
We were created well at reception. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Night Porter is a great bar man
Would have liked a sea view but 2 women don't really want to be sharing a bed. There was only doubles with sea view.
Good location. Lovely bathroom.
It's a noisy creaky hotel. No soundproofing. Too hot in the room.
comfort of room friendly staff
Staff were friendly
Bar needs some updating room wasn't up to expectations.
First trip to Brighton came for tattoo convention and the meteors staff on reception were brilliant they printed off my ticket as I had problems and was able to leave bags on the Saturday so I could have a few hours in brighton before I drove home.
Only problem was the kettle found out on Saturday morning it didn't work. Decided to have breakfast at hotel so was given the prebooked rate and 2 pots of coffee very happy.
good location, friendly staff , room was spacious & clean
Overall good value for money.
The pillows were very hard...not great when looking forward to a restful nights sleep without kids!! Was asked by staff at breakfast to wait or eat in bar as not enough tables...not ideal when it's a buffet breakie and not expected for a hotel chain of this size. Also, black pudding on the menu, (i loved it) but an aquired taste so for a vegetarian (my wife) made the vege breakfast very basic. Hash browns available at H10, Holiday Inn, Hilton and even some travelodges! ! A potato product at breakie a must!!!
Could have been a better choice at breakfast, more variety of eggs for example
I enjoyed the breakfast room, and how relaxed the hotel was.
I was not impressed how expensive it was to park on the premises of the hotel I stayed at. I was also not happy that the heating in the bedroom was full on and my partner and I were unable to turn it down.
Location of the hotel was great not far to walk to all the shops bars and restautants. Friendly staff and a nice breakfast.
The only thing I can say is more bath towels are required in the room and the hotel was a bit to hot quite uncomfortable!
The location is perfect and the hotel was clean with helpful friendly staff.
We didn't like that we had to pay £25 for overnight parking but that didn't guarantee us a space so if we went out and came back we might not be able to park so we had to spend more money on getting a taxi. Just in case.
Friendly staff , very clean and an excellent breakfast .
A very dated small bedroom and extremely expensive coffee .
I liked the location.
Breakfast overpriced, considering it was a buffet and cold, rooms overpriced, being woken several times in night by others standing at bottom of stairs outside our room having a chat, room stuffy and basic, bar overpriced, car parking excessive considering we were staying there
Location is great. Rooms are adequate but small and basic. Breakfast was very nice.
The price seems a bit much for what you get. Also, £25 for parking at a hotel you're already paying for seems ludicrous.
having to wear a dressing gown in bed to stay warm, the room was freezing. over priced room service that was warmish & order wasn't complete
Very comfortable bed lovely room and very clean
Nothing to dislike
Breakfast was below standard.
We had great customer service from the front desk throughout our stay, which always makes a huge difference. Urte was especially helpful and pleasant.
The hotel feels very dated in terms of fixtures and fittings, no feeling of luxury whatsoever in the room (e.g. minibar, view, nice bathroom) although it was clean and comfortable. Also a bit cramped.
Parking £25 !!! Crazy and not clear on website , we often pay for parking but £25 pounds is unfair. Windows drafty , whistling wind all night long , no plugs in convenient places .Tiny lift , long , long walk to room .Overall disappointing for a Mercury,
Friendliness of the staff, from reception to breakfast. Decor was in keeping with the grand building.
Outside could be 'tarted up' a bit!
Staff very good and breakfast was great, the function room we had was excellent although not enough staff on hand at our bar when we first arrived at our tables to cope ( only 52 of us)
all beginning to look a bit tired, the carpet in my room was almost worn through at the end of the bed and the bathroom is at least 25 years old.
Helpful, friendly staff.
Draughty, ill-fitting old windows facing the sea on a very windy weekend. Fairly constant traffic noise outside because no double glazing. Weren't warned (or given move option) about a party which went on late and disrupted sleep.
Upgraded room to sea view which was good, location was Good.
Hotel looking tired in places, room was very cold, Windows draughty, had to close curtains to retain heat. Breakfast was a shambles, too many guests not enough tables, plus everything was running out, had to wait for it to be replenished. Cancel 2nd days Breakfast didn't fancy going to disorganised shambles again. Parking expensive at £25 night.
rooms are nice
bad management, staff who try to do so much, but seriously understaffed. Running around like headless chickens, overall condition hotel is run down. I would not stay here again.
