We used the gym and spa facilities soon after we arrived, the pool was lovely and warm, the steem room and sauna was perfect. We ate in the restaurant that evening and the food was great, we had the 3 courses every dish was well presented and tasted excellant.

It was convenient and the price was low. Did not try the restaurant but the meals at the bar were tasty. Staff friendly and very patient when having to direct us to the hotel. Other than the above we were not disappointed in our choice as we did pay budget price for our room. The room did smell a bit musty and would be a good idea to tell the cleaning staff not to play the tv Music channels while cleaning the rooms. We did not need to awake so early but would have been disturbed if had slept longer. Did struggle a bit getting into the hotel but easy to access the a12 going out and thought we could return same way initially and only realised we were at the other side of the highway.

The pool and spa are fantastic we have stayed here 5 times now more because of the pool than anything else. Nothing to really complain about but its just that the rooms could do with a really good deep clean and a lick of paint to spruce the place up a bit it would be excellent if that was all done and aslo I think that the bathrooms could do with a revamp aswell they arent very moden.

The staff were friendly and very good. The bar area was very nice and relaxing. Breakfast took half an hour from ordering to receiving on both days! The hotel rooms left a lot to be desired. They were extremely old fashined and the shower dribbled water! I think all of the rooms need modernising.

I was slightly worried as there seem to be quite a few bad reviews of the Rivenhall but I booked it anyway as I was attending a wedding and quite fancied using the spa/gym/pool facilities the next day. I needn't have worried though, the place was absolutely fine so I'm not sure where the bad reviews have come from! The room was clean, large and comfortable and while the bedrooms themselves wouldn't necessarily win any awards for decor, there was nothing wrong with them in my opnion. The main reception area and dining room was also really nice and breakfast was an impressive spread of pastries, continental meats and cheese, fruit, cereals and even pancakes and maple syrup! As well as a full English, which while not the best I've ever had, was fine. Staff were all very friendly and helpful too and having the leisure centre next door is a nice extra, I had an hour Swedish massage for £38 which I thought was very reasonable. I couldn't say anything bad about this hotel. All in all very satisfactory stay.

The bar area was cozy. The bed skirts were filthy and the bathroom had hair in the sink and the shower was very weak.

Restaurant, lounge and food all excellent and very good value for money. Good tea/coffee making facilities. Comfortable bed. Noisy location on busy main road. Rooms chalet style with badly fitting wardrobes and poor hangers. Non-dairy diet not available.

The food in hotel was first class, really couldn't fault it even though the eveing meal was slow in coming out between courses, the staff were very helpfull friendly caring. The only thing that disapointed us was the cleaniless of the Bathroom mould all round by the bath edge, also crime under neath the bowl on the toilet, tiles and grouting looks like it all needed wash down very poor standard, not what we expected. When I mentioned it to reception was told should mentioned it day before! Wasn't aware I had to cleaning checks before I took the room on.

My sole purpose for my visit to the area was to visit my elderly mother who lives in Kelvedon. The hotel is idealy situated being just 5/10 mins away. Reception, bar and cleaning staff with whom I came into contact were all pleasant, friendly and eager to please when I needed anything. The lack of availability of a room with a walk in shower. If you must have "over the bath" showers please install handrails to help those of us who are getting on a bit. Anyway I would have thought this was a safety issue.
