Score from 629 reviews Very good
Fire alarm in the middle of the night. The staff did not manage the situation as they should. The dinner was poor on quality and didn't match a two rossettes.
Accommodation and facilities generally very good
As an avid swimmer the pool is a little short, but it was all part of the deal, which was a refreshing change from some hotels that charge extra for this sort of thing.
Small but ok pool.
For £91 per night without breakfast we found the hotel poor value for money. Small simple rooms and the steam room was a let down:(
I liked the bed. The way my complaint about my non-breakfast was dealt with.
The breakfast. The orange juice was disgusting. The smoked salmon and eggs that was ordered but never arrived. Lack of extractor fan in bathroom.
Room was good
If I had booked with the hotel direct breakfast would have been included and staff were not prepared to change when I phoned 24 hours before arrival and on arrival
Good room, nice facilities
Breakfast at £32 was overpriced
Hotel and facilities fine , staff friendly and helpful
In no particular order: Noisy room - wedding receptions on both nights of stay with very loud music. Air-con did not work so needed windows open which made the noise levels worse. TV didn't work service at the evening functions was incredibly slow and the meals incredibly overpriced for the food served
Nothing outstanding about hotel in my opinion stayed in better
Didnt like the morning i stayed it was chaotic! Asked for a tea an never got it..tables were not cleared straight away an food was poor
Hotel rooms were good, comfortable nice and quiet as requested Apart from a fire alarm around 11-30PM. We had to redress as we were in bed, but alarm stopped as we were just about to leave the room. Letter arrived in morning to say it was a false alarm
we were treating a friend for a retirement break and I paid for his room and breakfast up front prior to him booking in. Unknown to me ,he had to leave before the breakfast opened in the morning to catch a flight and the hotel would not refund the prepayment.-- Giving a feeble excuse that prepayment allows kitchens to prepare correct amounts of food. Other friends with us had not prepayed for breakfast but had it all the same. I can only say Disappointing customer service. I doubt if we will be back.
The room was comfortable & the Elemis products in bathroom were lovely
We found receptionist snooty, the key to our room did not work, which meant walking all the way back to reception (which was a mission after a long day) There was an argument in the bar with a drunk guest.. People walking around in bathrobes in the bar?!?! Finally the fire alarm was set off (false alarm).. I've stayed in The Hilton, The Ritz, Savoy & many European hotels for business & pleasure & I was very disappointed with The Felbridge especially as it was my partners birthday..
Clean and spacious room
Very expensive but poor quality breakfast. Rude and unhelpful staff.
Spa, Swimming pool, Bay Tree restaurant, balcony on room.
Room was a bit small. Breakfast was good but expensive to add on - £15 each.
We were greeted by a delightful and helpful young lady the minute we arrived, which was very welcome as we had spent a long day at the bedside of our son who was in the Queen Victoria Hospital following a major operation. Room service and the food provided were also delivered by very helpful young people. The staff are a credit to the hotel and made a stressful time bearable. Thank you
Only minor point I could possibly comment on was that there was not a complimentary body lotion with all the toiletries provided. Not a critisism in the slightest but I was surprised as every other detail was perfect.
Location convenient Friendly helpful staff Good food Restaurant, surroundings, etc good
Bed small, uncomfortable
Good location near Gatwick airport and close to Ashdown forest. Comfortable beds. After reading reviews had requested a quiet room at the back, we had the last room 314 on the ground floor at the end of long corridors, and we had very little disturbance even though 2 weddings were on ( Saturday night). The next night was very quiet. It was handy to have the restaurant as there seemed to be no eating options within walking distance.
- service - presentation of food and training of the restaurant staff - wine list - courtyard
- abundant noise due to events not being far enough from rooms - courtyard does not have service and bringing drinks from the inside yourself is rather unpleasant
facilities, location, staff
The food and crockery served to young children at our wedding reception was dangerously hot. When pointed out to staff they did not seem to be aware of this.
Helpful staff. Very comfortable bed.
3 people inthe pool &it was crowded. Nothing in the area to make mereturn.
I had a private function arranged in the Willow Suite and a number of guests travelling from afar to join us for a special occasion dinner. The function was executed brilliantly; exactly as planned. I had numerous comments from guests about the excellent food and service. The rooms are lovely too.
The quiet room, the helpful staff at reception, the spa and gym. Choose a room from 300 upwards for the quiet side of the hotel
Being charged extra for breakfast, we didn't bother.
On the plus side. The receptionist was very helpfull when I complained the next morning. She arranged for the maintainence man to check it out. She asked if I would like to change my room but I was going to be out all day and not back till late.. I assumed that the room would have been checked out for Sat night. It was less noisy but still could here that there was trouble with the air conditioning.
The room was very noisey. Air conditioning very loud. and the television and the lights turned themselves off at 22.00 and I was unable to turn them back on. The room was classed as a double but I have stayed in single rooms bigger than this.
We most enjoyed the facilities ie. swimming sauna steam room.... Lovely quiet hotel and enjoyable stay overall Nice and friendly staff
Only 16 very basic TV programmes to watch- few of them kids telly Air condition was noisy in one of the rooms but fine in another room
One very unsuccessful stay and will not be repeated
The staff was very friendly, the hotel was lovely, nice decor very clean.
The variety of food was minimal and a bit pricey. £18 for a burger?
Size of room and bed. Could not sleep because of under mattress, smell, noisy ac, constant noise all night .
