Plenty of parking very friendly reception staff The hotel is supposed to be in the middle of an upgrade! This may be true for the reception area and maybe some other rooms, but ,certainly not in ours. Both rooms were very dated ( like being in the 70's) and dirty. They were cold and no way of changing the thermostat ( don't even think there was one) I used to live near this hotel 10 years ago and it had an amazing reputation. Obviously not anymore. If you are looking for luxury or even a decent 3 * hotel for a short break do not go here.

We had stayed at the Ramada on several occasions so was surprised to see it had changed hands. The Reception staff were helpful and the room was ok. Cot provded as requested. Not sure if the pool was open as did not have time to visit. There was a chocolate wrapper left in room from previous occupant. The bar seemed to be understaffed as my son (aged 2) seemed to wait ages for our drinks to be brought to the table. The restaurant menu was disappointing and very expensive. Who wants 3 courses at £22. If I come again I would certainly go out. Breakfast was also expensive and since I only had 2 slices of bacon, a grilled tomato and a cup of coffee - overpriced. However, the lady that served us was very pleasant as was the waitress the evening before.

Breakfast for £8? You have to be kidding. If you just want toast or cereal like me then it is a complete waste of money and not very good customer service when you have to go out to get breakfast. Zero stars for that. For me that spoilt my stay and would make me think twice about booking here or elsewhere within this chain.

The breakfast was reasonable and the reception area was very nice. I felt that the hotel was very tired and in need of updating especially the rooms on the 2nd floor, the bathroom was poor with the toilet not matching the rest of the suite and the bath was an awful plastic version. I hope that the Mercure group are going to address this. The price of drinks and wine is astronomical. We only stayed there because of a wedding at a venue close by.

We stayed one night only, the staff were friendly, well trained and helpful. We both particularly liked the way breakfast was served, good, well cooked english breakfast with all the trimmings. Fresh and plentyful. Breakfast was served up to 12, this is a great idea and should be appreciated by all, not many hotels offer this facility. The last time we stayed at this hotel we enjoyed the spa facilities. My wife now has a back injury and we booked again with the spa in mind to help her unwind after a long car journey. On booking and during several phone conversations with reception prior to arrival the fact that the spa was out of action due to a roof collapse was never mentioned. We only found out when we enquired on arrival. If this had been mentioned earlier we would possibly have not elected to stay overnight. The lack of this facility spoiled our enjoyment of the hotel somewhat.

The hotel was well located for easy access to the local hospital, at Castle Hill. The room was very tired and needed updating, the bathroom and furniture were like something out of the late 80s and the bed must have been over 10 years old!

The room was clean. The bed was comfy. The decor of the room was a little odd, the double bed was surrounded by a head board with integrated side tables obviously for a king sized bed as you could hardly reach them. The bathroom was a mash of pergamon and white but was clean. The hotel staff were dismissive, I stood at the front desk in front of a member of staff for 5 minutes before he acknowledged my presence. Even them he barely spoke to me only to tell me my room and where the lift was. They were very busy (3 weddings in the same hotel) but it was not the service I am used to.

It was convenient to where we were visiting. Price was OK The swimming pool has been closed down. There was a lack of electric sockets in the room. The bathroom only had a bath. the shower did not work. There was a lack of towels. There was no mini bar and only tea or coffee in the room. The pillows were hard and not enough of them. Worst of all the mattresses on the beds were useless. They were sprung and all the springs were shot. Had very poor sleep throughout the stay.

The hotel was shabby, the bed was a disgrace, to old mattresses put next to each other and very uncomfortable. We were told upon arrival that the pool was closed and we were not given an explanation to why this was, which was disappointing as this was one of the reasons why we chose the hotel. The breakfast was not the best, and the breakfast staff were not very enthusiastic, they were also cleaning tables with a cleaning spray so we could smell it in the air, instead they should have used a damp cloth.

Upside, staff incredibly friendly and amongst the most helpful I have ever encountered. Downside rooms very basic for price (no fridge, no iron/ board). Walls paper thin - occupant next door snored very loudly all night and a great deal of noise from doors opening and closing late evening. Unable to comment on pool and gym facilities as did not have the opportunity to try out due to time restriction. Feel hotel rate is vastly overpriced for standard compared to other hotels I have stayed in. Fine for one nights stay but not any longer.

The receptionist was very polite and helpfull. We had booked a double but the only one available was over the dinning room and as there was a wedding on so it would have been quite noisy, so we settled for a twin. The breakfast was very good. The beds we slept in were uncomfortable. You could'nt turn over without having a spring make a noise. The service in the dinning room was'nt very good.We were asked if we wanted tea/coffee/toast as we entered but it was'nt followed through. We had to ask a waitress for the tea and the toast. There was no organisation with the staff who just floated,They should have been given allotted tables to serve then they would know who had been attended to and who had'nt.First time we have stayed at a Ramada and it was'nt the best experience.

“The Proprietors were very friendly and anxious to oblige. The room was spacious with all mod cons and the beds were comfortable. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and Janet, the proprietor cooked everything to your choice and taste. The hotel is a bit far from the City Centre of Hull but there is a frequent bus service to and from town for people who prefer to leave the car at home. The Guest House had a friendly and homely atmosphere whilst some hotels can feel a little impersonal. I am pleased to recommend it to others. ” Barbara, Lancaster, Lancashire |
