My wife and I have been to this hotel on many occasions and it is a firm favourite of ours! We always know that we will see and meet familiar and friendly faces who have come to know us well! The staff will go out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome! We love the hotels location to the beautiful and historic market town and it is within easy access of the coast and other locations we love to visit! It has a beautiful interior that mixes old and new and we are always assured of it's comfort! The restaurant is lovely and the meals are delicious! The breakfast has a huge choice and always enjoyable! Our stay is usually for a long weekend and we very much appreciate the late departure time on the Sunday! We love the gym area too and like to use that when possible! We will definitely be staying there again and in the near future!

A good proffessional hotelwho took trouble to ensure a welcome and service. The food prices were not competitive with almost adjacent establishments. I have however been advised that they are revising the menue and prices

Very helpful staff when I needed information and alterations to the room temperature. Stayed there while my wife was admitted to the hospital close by.Staff very supportive and sensitive. Food was good but hotel quiet so atmosphere affected accordingly. Only one in large dining room for evening meal and again at breakfast. However staff still attentive and friendly.Although the internet booking dept had made an error the staff found me a room immediately.

The staff were great, friendly and very welcoming on arrival. Even though the hotel seemed busy with wedding guests etc it wasnt too noisy in the room. the only reason for not giving an excellent for room cleanliness was the view of the loo when taking a bath was a bit grim!...apart from that....fab!

The hotel was clean, business like and perfectly reasonable. The staff I met (please see below) were polite and professional. The building was well lit and noise levels were acceptable. The bottom line is that I wanted a reasonably priced hotel for one night that was what you provided. I was satisfied. Not a complaint but for your information. Breakfast at £10 per head seemed expensive and we did not eat in the hotel. I only saw two members of staff during our stay (one lady seemd to be permanently on duty night and day !!) and I had to go to reception to ask her to have a member of staff come to the bar to serve me. (In fact she did it herself) No idea whether this staffing level is routine but it does not seem adequate.

Since we are using the hotel fairly regularly as we bring and collect our son from university, it is good that it is not too pricey. This time there was a good deal in the restaurant for dinner which we took advantage of.

The Mercure was very well situated to visit our family in hull. The hotel is set in lovely grounds, that makes it feel like the countryside. It was not far from the city centre, and has great access to further north in East Riding. We liked our junior suite because it was like a very small home; we liked the lounge area separate from our bedroom and bathroom. The room was well heated ( and the weather was cold ) and serviced nicely. The staff were efficient and friendly. The food was good and available regularly. The room was economical too. Lots of parking. There were at time some damp smells in some of the public areas .

The swimming pool was closed due to health and safety reasons which is a poor excuse. As a safety consultant I would never sanction such actions. The shower in the room was rubbish, the towel rail was not on and the room was cold as the heating only stayed on for two hours. If I did not know better I would think they were trying to save money.

Car park facilities and location The room and toilet were in need of refurbishment, and heating was not working on the morning we left, this spoiled our stay at this hotel. Separate letter to follow.

The location was good The pool was closed. The ice and snow hadn't been cleared. The rooms were tired and I couldn't shut the shower off properly. The staff seemed in short supply! Perhaps its early days (it used to be another chain Ramada?)

Plenty of parking very friendly reception staff The hotel is supposed to be in the middle of an upgrade! This may be true for the reception area and maybe some other rooms, but ,certainly not in ours. Both rooms were very dated ( like being in the 70's) and dirty. They were cold and no way of changing the thermostat ( don't even think there was one) I used to live near this hotel 10 years ago and it had an amazing reputation. Obviously not anymore. If you are looking for luxury or even a decent 3 * hotel for a short break do not go here.
