Shower above Bath and. no grab rail
Rooms were lovely. Bed was very comfy. Had a great sleep. And for been close to the pubs our room was very quiet. Breakfast wad really good. Lots of choice. Would definitely come back.
Staff were help full
Not a patch on the palace close by and it is apparent that this hotel is booked for the drunken lads nights out in Inverness. A man drunk lying in the entrance on the 18 Oct and not a family friendly environment. .
Close to all facilities, eating places, attractions and railway station. Easy to find.
Rooms weren't sound proof to the street noise. Unable to operate the window damper.
Central location very close to train station and city centre.
We booked this hotel for my fiancee's birthday. At no time either on the hotel website or booking.com is there any information about the hotel being under major refurbishment. To be honest, the hotel needs it but if this information had been passed on when booking we would have stayed elsewhere. When we checked in we were given a room on the 2nd floor, directly above the major refurbishment of the whole first floor. As a result, the room was very noisy. So noisy that it was giving my fiancée a splitting headache. One of the main reasons we chose the mercure hotel, was because it has it's own gym, swimming pool and spa. We planned to use these facilities but Due to the ongoing noise, we attempted to use these facilities earlier than planned. We were then told that the spa and swimming pool was closed due to the refurbishment. Again there was no notice of this, on the hotel website, booking.com or signs in the hotel itself. We used the gym but the equipment was very old and none of the TVs or music system seemed to work or were on. After the gym, we returned to our room where the noise was louder. We phoned down reception and put our points across and asked to move room. Unfortunately we were spoken to by a unsympathetic receptionist who said that it was just the way it was, that the refurbishment was going to make noise and refused our request. Of course this is correct, but is extremely poor customer service considering the guests were never advised of the work, prior to arriving. We had organised a meal for my fiancée's birthday and when we began to get ready, we found that the shower was broken and water was pouring out the shower hose where it shouldn't have. We phoned reception again and they sent a workman up to the room. He explained that yes, the shower was broken but we also had no hot water as it had been turned off due to the ongoing refurbishment. Again we were not advised of this!
Excellent Location !
Cleanliness could have been better
Excellent location and very friendly and accommodating staff.
They changed the room when I asked them to
Having to change rooms due to noise. The work going on in the hotel meant going to the second floor to access the first floor rooms. We used the fire escape for this and the light levels were dreadful.Hall carpets were filthy. Then we come to breakfast and my pet hate - the buffet breakfast. It is never hot, this was luke warm at best. When will hotels learn we want a HOT breakfast.
The noise from outside till the early hours of the morning was horrendous! I think double glazing needs replaced. We were in room 313 and the noise from the plumbing from the room up above was terrible! We have stayed at this hotel on a few occasion but will not be going back. I could not get home quick enough to get a sleep.
Location in city centre is good
Noise from outside the hotel on every night we were there kept us awake
Staff could not do enough for us, nice Champagne breakfast enjoyed our day
Can't fault it value for money
Not being advised of the noisy major work either on booking or by reception on booking in. Poor bathroom no space for personal toiletries
The Mercure staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms clean and comfortable and the food excellent.
No lift !! Being on the 2nd floor was not comfortable when you have mobility problems. Our luggage was willingly carried up for us, but we had to climb!!
central location. Friendly staff. Good choice of food at breakfast.
Very attentive and helpful staff in all departments.
Plumbing noisy in the night and only hard pillows available
Size and comfort of bed Big room
Bathroom was as bad as a Travelodge but cost us two or three times as much Noise from water pipes
I liked the location, comfort and the food.
The way that the layout of food at breakfast wa exsplained to us.
We had an issue with the operation of the shower in the bedroom but this has already been discussed with the hotel management so they understand the issue
The hotel has a fabulous location near many marvelous cafes and restaurants. It is one block from the train station! They have a very gracious staff, especially the young lady who helped us get in early so we could drop our bags in our room and return our rental car on time!
Weak internet connection. Mercure can't do anything about this, but they are so centrally located in Inverness that it can be noisy, especially at night with partying crowds.
Bautiful Hotel in the city centre, very close to the shopping area. Great room with river view (as we requested) with all conforts. Excellent breakfast
Fee private hotel parking (2 GBP/day)
The room was gorgeous, massive with a huge bed and separate couch area, overlooking the back of the hotel (river and bridge) which was really pretty. To the front of the hotel was the town centre so ideally located for all the local bars and reasturants! Very reasonably priced, would definitely stay again.
It was a very easy place to find, the staff were very obliging and the cuisine was excellent.
Was not informed that the wifi only lasted 24hrs. I felt the entrance to the Hotel could be enhanced a bit from the road frontage.
We enjoyed the room facing Church street although noisy Saturday evening? The bed was very comfortable and spacious as we expected. The coffee machine was very welcome. The lighting was good and easily controlled beside the bed.
The bathroom was not good! The sink and toilet had cracks. The bath was old and tired especially round the plughole. The bath panel was way past its best. I cannot bear shower curtains either. For the price we paid, this was terrible .....not impressed!
Staying at the mercure was very comfortable indeed and the staff very friendly and helpful, the hotel is in a great location for all the shops, pubs and restaurants.
Comfortable beds & friendly staff
The swimming pool has closed until further notice (? indefinitely) We stay in this hotel every September for a short stay & what has made the stay for me has been access to the pool. Now I may well look for other accomodation in Inverness. Noise Levels in the rooms facing the street/town centre make for a disturbed nights sleep even with the Noise Reduction Vent in the window closed; perhaps ear plugs could be supplied in these rooms.
