Score from 345 reviews Very good
The hotel itself, staff and food were good.
Our room was crammed with beds so that our bedside cabinet was on the other side of the room. It was obviously a family room but an extra single bed had been fitted in so that we had to move it to pull the curtains. The bathroom was terrible - chipped bath and cracked handbasin. Flush did not work very well and hot water came out of both taps in sink.
The receptionist. The cleanlyness of the room, in particular the bathroom.
My room was next to the 1st floor landing lobby door and was very noisy each time the door closed (it woke me up in the noght). Bed quilt too thin on very cold nights.
Location. Staff. Much improved decoration under new ownership
The wow factor from my girlfriend as we arrive was on scale of 1-10 was about 11 this was a get away we could not complain about any of the staff all of the staff were excellent they made us both very welcome thank you to all staffb
Breakfast was good
Uncomfortable bed hotel and room rather dated..needs fresh paint and decoration!
Location of hotel. The bar/restaurant (Canadian workers) were all very nice, and helpful.
They only had us down for ONE room, when I had booked TWO! Fortunately they had another room available!! And then they told me I had only paid for ONE room anyway, which was incorrect as they realized at the time of check-out. So, a lot of confusion there it seems behind the desk/accounting. The lounge area needs some serious care, attention and LIFE! The dinner was average - nothing special. The breakfast was just ok.
Dirty nappy out side window .every wall&door was scratch or marked ,although booked early in one name all three rooms were on 3differnt floors in 3diff' parts of the hotel .
A very pleasant hotel with very helpful staff.
I would have appreciated two comfortable chairs in our room. The toilet cistern was too slow in filling up
Very friendly staff & a good clean, spacious room that was well equipped.
Location: ease of access to motorway. All rooms axccessible - I am disabled.
Low toilet seat. Diffiicult for me - I am 6ft tall. With people generally increasing in stature , it would be a good idea for manufacturers to bear this in mind.
Made to feel very welcome from the moment we entered hotel, room lovely and clean, bed nice and comfortable. Will book again
Large rooms, decent enough bathroom, trouser press facilities.
Whole hotel is very tired looking, tired furnishings, carpets; antiquated TVs with poor channel selection choices and channels continually have brief interuuptions, poor exercise equipment. Hard to get to sleep as noise from a refrigeration motor outside somewhere kicking in constantly. Bed hard, able to feel the mattress springs.
Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable room, good breakfast
Hotel is beginning to show signs of wear.
We attended for a wedding and the staff could not do enough to help
I was only there for a night after attending a wedding next door I was satisfied with the service for the one night
Insufficient staff - only one person could use the computer - resulted in a queue to check out around 30 minutes long, causing some people to miss their trains. £3.50 for a small cappuccino seemed very expensive for a mid-range hotel. Be aware that there are no taxis at Horsley station and mini-cabs difficult to track down. No mobile signal - I'm with Vodafone.
Friendly staff big rooms excellent shower with body jets
Room decor a bit dated
run down, old and dirty and no hot water - will never stay there again
nice clean rooms, spacious too. Plenty of options on the food menu
The staff were very friendly
The bed was a bit uncomfortable
Cooking (menu) rather dull and unimaginative .
value received for price paid
I used to go to this venue as the best in the area many years ago, and revisiting it proved a massive disappointment. It is now, despite a beautiful exterior, internally rather shabby, and both the food and room can only be described as ordinary. Also, had the American waiter said "perfect" one more time, his life would have been in severe danger. Don't they train anyone not to be annoying any more?
Booked a room with a 4 poster bed didnt get one resturant poor
The welcome, the location, the room in general.
The bathroom fixtures and fittings need to be looked at.
