It was quiet, warm, acceptably clean and decent in-house catering, wi-fi in the lounge, free-parking

The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and the location good for what we needed. Value for money. The food was lovely.

could'nt see how to order the cheaqper breakfasts on line hence had to pay full price on the day. also the 1st time i stayed I booked a single room, had a double bed up against a wall. 2nd time paid for a double room @ a higher price and got a double bed against a wall. needed decorating.

On arrival I found the receptionist a little short and certainly not friendly enough to have in that position. Once checked we proceeded to our room to off load our luggage and then proceeded to go to dinner. Staff were not at all helpful and left us to have to go to the bar to order food and when asked had no idea what the soup of the day was. The rubbish bins outside the front door were overflowing. I travel the uk with business when booking this hotel I did expect a little better service and cleanliness.

Staff friendly and helpful

I booked a double bedroom, not a cupboard containing a double bed! The gents in the hotel was very poorly maintained, clearly not checked on any regular basis.

I have stayed many times before but this time ended up in the new rooms downstairs - small and not enough tea/coffee or spoon provided. Furniture cheap looking.

Location was ok. Easy to find. Reception staff were very helpful.

Cleanliness left a lot to be desired! Building works noise all day making work/rest impossible. False fire alarm at 3:30am (can't be helped but added to the discomfort of the stay). Woken at 8:30am by housekeeping staff shouting at each other right outside the door to my room.

Unfriendly staff Waited for ages to be served, when I was served at the bar the grid remained closed. Bar staff refused to mix a bloody mary saying she didnt mix drinks Bed very uncomfortable you could actually feel the metal springs through the matress.

Not been able to book Room service after 11pm

I thought it was quiet but lively, comfortable and clean, my room was great for the price paid. I'm grateful there was a room spare at the last minute.

Well the location was quite far from the train station so it was quite expensive. It cost me £12.50 and I'd like to suggest maybe a a service for the hotel to agree with a taxi company to give guests a fixed reduced price when checking in and out of hotel. for example from the hotel it cost me £9 to be taken to the train station. This is just an idea.

Breakfast was okay.

The double room was so small claustrophobic. The double bed was so uncomfortable full of springs!!!

Staff not very welcoming or experienced at all at the bar no one knew what the menu was I ordered rib eye steak medium rump came out well done sent it back rump was returned nearly blue felt uncomfortable as staff was staring at us after complaint about food. My tea chips was uncooked chef left before half 9 as says food will be served until half 9 not 9 then go home! Breakfast was ok scrambled eggs was like snot! Room was ok but freezing and no heating. In my opinion needs a new manager.

The staff were very courteous our concierge (louise) treated us fairly and did what she could, offered us a different room on the ground floor when we complained.

Ungracious/noisy guests the late comers 2-3am banging.doors talking loudly the room had a dank smell bed too small and worn out!! Not sure it was a double really grond floor room no opening windows a/c not on all the time totally stuffy/airless!! Breakfast late and cold

Charged £2 to use Credit or Debit card that was not mentioned anywhere on booking.com website. Hotel said it was their own site. I later looked and only found it if you went right through the booking process. Felt this was dishonest

Booking in very speedy. Large bedroom, plenty of room for the double and single bed. Roomy areas for sitting and relaxing. Buffet breakfast was excellent.

Bedroom furniture very dated. Unable to get sandwiches from bar (4.30pm) even though menu says available 8.00am-5.30pm told no chef available untill 5.30pm. Placed order(3 pannins 2 sandwiches) at 5.30pm at 5.50pm told not available until after 6.00pm. Then later informed that grill had not been put on! 6.50 still not served. Waitress was not very helpfull, she said chef kept saying 2 more minutes. When asked whom I should complain to she said the manager but he wasn't there. She did find him and I complained and he brought our sandwiches out at approx 7.00pm. Did offer complimentary around of drinks. Although not the fault of the hotel, it wasn't pleasant when there were loud arguments and a fight almost broke out in the bar area and police were eventually called.

The bathroom smelled so badly of drains that we could not stay and we were awarded a full refund. The hotel needs a full refurb. It looked grubby. The kettle was filthy.
