It was near to were our friends lived, the reason for going to Scotland to visit them. The hotel needs a general tidy up threshold from room to bathroom scuffed badly. The sink worktop had obviously been used for something else, ie used to have tissue box area which now is just an empty space. Generally the place looks tired. And our room was cold, checked in at 3.00pm and when we returned at 9.00pm was still cold had to call reception to find out what the problem was, there was snow on the ground outside and Im sure they were aware it was also cold outside. We was told we had to turn the heating down then turn it back on, shouldnt we have being told this at check in, or shouldnt this have been done for us before are arrival, so we could have walked into a warm room.

Shopping centres McArthur Glen & Almondvale very close. Rooms were excellent, very clean. Free Wi-Fi is excellent. Swimming pool. Breakfasts were very good with good choice. Glasgow & Edinburgh were easily accessible. Not a problem as such but the floorboards were very creaky when moving about the room!!

On freezing night, heating did not work call to reception was not answered (so gave up). Staff do not appear to have been trained in customer care. My impression after complaining whilst checking out. After many stays in the last 12 months it is unlikely this hotel will receive my custom again!

lovely comfy bed and pillows, friendly staff. There was NO heater in the bathroom therefore it was cold. When I mentioned this to the staff I was told 'no we don't have heaters in the bathrooms'. General areas in the hotel were very cold.

Good location for shopping at McArthur Gleb Our room was very tired looking and a bit dingy, the bed wasn't comfortable. We have stayed at this hotel numerous times and this is the first time I've felt the need to give a bad review! I think it will the travelodge for us next time. Was much better before being bought over.

A very comfortable hotel with excellent facilities. We did not have time to sample the cuisine but for our purposes the hotel was excellent value for money and we would have no hesitation in recommending it.

The staff are friendly and professional. The atmosphere is relaxed and the quietness allowed for a welcome good nights sleep. I didn't like the CCTV of the swimming pool behind the desk. It seemed to look like the equivalent of Doctor Evils shark tank for bad guests. The hotel could be refurbished as a lot of the features are a bit dated.

I liked how close to the shopping outlets & our stay was comfortable . The leisure facility was up to scratch the pool was freezing & we had to wait10 mins for staff to get towels for us . & our room wasn't cleaned until 3.30 pm when all we wanted to do was relax after shopping . Then to asked for house keeping at 9 am when we weren't due to check out till 12 .

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. the food was exceptional, the best I've had from any hotel and very reasonably priced. All you can eat (not just any) buffet breakfast at £10 each children free! There was an extensive range of impressive wines for all tastes. The location is good and much cheaper than most other places in Edinburgh itself. would stay here again and recommend it to anyone. The room was cold on arrival with a note displayed in the room saying that heating is off in unoccupied rooms. However once the heating was on it wasn't long before it heated up.
