Simple and clean, great location Had to move rooms as the adjoining doors to next rooms are much to thin and could hear my next door neighbour blowing his nose! Waitress in restaurant was pretty laid back and not 100% sure how things worked

Booked the hotel as a base while having a day at the races. The staff were friendly, check in was hassle free!! Thought £10.00 each was quite expensive for breakfast ( it is alot more if not booked at check in). That being said the breakfast (buffet style) was nice and plenty of choice, quality produce seemed to be used! Room was clean and had all you would need for a short stay, I know it's a bad habit but huge plus for me was the availability of a smoking room even if it was at the far end of the hotel!! Would stay here again for a short break, £49 per night you can't go wrong to be honest.

We went racing, and it was very near the racecourse. The parking was good and free of charge. The bar was nice and spacious and the staff were helpful. Mosam (not sure if I got his name exactly right) on the reception was really nice, friendly & professional. The room could of done with a bit more of a clean, It was dusty and I had to clean the toilet, also it was quite cold. I dont know what the other rooms are like, but we didnt feel as though we were in a superior room.

Location was great, straight off the motorway and it was there. The room was very basic and small. Despite being a double room we only got one towel between the two of us. There was an unpleasant smell in the bathtime the whole time we were there. We were attending a wedding at another venue and so called reception to book us a taxi. The reception transferred us to a firm of taxi that didnt seem to know where there hotel was and then did not turn up which led to us booking another taxi with another firm. When checking out of the hotel we were informed that the call had cost us 60p. Whilst does not seem a lot we were not informed of this cost and would have used our own free mobile phones had we known.

Reception was a little dodgy as I thought I had booked 2 nights but record said 1 night-soon rectified by competent staff.Refreshments were good, and other guests convivial. Would stay again. Is a commercial hotel and some wear and tear is apparent but not intrusive or off-putting. Some catering staff young and inexperienced.

Location Standard of room. Poor quality fittings/fixtures. Pieces missing form tap. Sink plug broken. The room gave the impression that the hotel didn't have the money/interest to invest. It gave an old & tired impression.

It was comfortable, clean, near to weatherby, friendly staff, and very reasonable price. The restuarant was quite expensive. Our room was very hot because the central heating radiator would not turn off. We had to sleep with the windows open. Apart from that it was very good.

Surprisingly good. I stayed here for 2 nights out of necessity as all the hotels and guest houses in Harrogate were full. The Mercure looks fairly dismal from the outside, but the interior has been modernised and refurbished. I asked for a quiet room on the top floor and was duly allocated one. The bedroom was spacious, the bed very comfortable and the new bathroom excellent, although a little more shelf space for toiletries would be useful. Everywhere was clean and all the staff I encountered were helpful and friendly. The breakfast choice was good and the cooked option a good average compared to other pre prepared buffet offerings. I would stay here again. Even at the back, there is some noise through the night from the a1 if, like me, you prefer to keep a window open. I took a very dim view of the £4 per night parking charge for guests (this is Wetherby, not Leeds or York!), but in fact, this amount was not added to the bill on checkout, so all is forgiven.

Ideal location for a short break with good parking arrangements. The resturant food was great, & the cooked breakfast was better than some other hotels we have stayed. We had one of the ground floor double rooms which was close to external ac units or boiler house, even with the windows closed we experienced noise which disturbed our sleep. This was tollerable for one night but would have been an issue if we intended to stay longer etc.

All of the staff were professional, helpful and welcoming. The facilities suited our needs. The quality and presentation of the food was good but some of the prices in the bistro were a bit on the high side.
