Check in process. They didnt seem to have the booking from Booking.com and initially said we were not booked to stay. They then found it and there was a mix up over payment; very laborious and took ages. Did however offer free car parking for the mix up and confusion. There was no bed linen for the 4th bed. The other guests in our party for whom I booked an additional room, requested a travel cot which was not in the room. Our 2 young children (3 and 5) were kept awake until 10.30-11pm by laughing and joking in the adjoining room; wouldnt have said it was too loud, but the walls are clearly very thin and maybe some consideration should have been taken into account when allocating our room...?

Nothing really.

Room heating didn't work. Hotel staff eventually brought up a portable heater after declining my request for a room change, saying they were all booked out. I will never stay there again. Staff said he would have a word with manager but it doesn't appear that a note was made in the system as nobody asked about my experience on checkout.

Regrettably, nothing

The hotel is not 2 miles from the airport, as stated on the description and the shuttle bus (paying service), took 30 mins. The hotel is old and tired. The bed was of poor quality and the bedding equally substandard. The noise emitted by the ventilation system kept me awake - so loud that I had to put the tv on during the night to mask the disturbance. Dinner in the bar was very poor - large, bland, undercooked and under-filled pasta sheets masquerading as ravioli - terrible.

Fire alarm going off at 4am and being outside in the cold and wet for 45 minutes.

Location very convenient to Gatwick Airport - 5/6 miles away - but nice and quiet Good price for one night stop-over. Staff pleasant and polite. Buffet breakfast good selection to cover all tastes.

The only thing that was not up to standard was that the water temperature in the shower was at best tepid - wash hand basin fine. Small complaint in the scheme of things but it is these "little" things that tend to stick in the mind. Suspecting a room-specific fault, I raised the problem at reception on departure.
