Rampsbeck is a beautiful and luxurious country house hotel and its guests are treated as house guests, rather than hotel residents. Our room, overlooking the garden and lake, was absolutely glorious. The food was very expensive, but every course wonderful. This is a set price menu, starting with canapes in the bar, a small cup of beautiful homemade soup, very imaginative starter, main course and dessert, followed by coffee and homemade petit fours, everything exquisitely prepared and presented . One of the reasons we chose the hotel was for its gourmet food and our expectations were actually exceeded. Breakfast was also excellent, no need for lunch! There was nothing that I didn't like, I loved it all. The only thing I would say though is that gourmet food of this kind (and price) may not suit everyone. It would be a shame to go expecting that there will be an alternative menu, since there isn't. Best advice is to look at the sample menu on the website and ring the hotel if you have any doubts.

Excellent location ,though entrance and paricularly exit can be somewhat hairy. Cuisine obviously of a very high standard even though we were not able to take full advantage of the dinner menu. The staff, Sonia et al are to be commended for their welcome and their general all round helpfulness- "muchas agreable"

We had an amazing two nights at Rampsbeck. The room was beautiful. The service was exceptional with all staff being courteous and helpful. Even the smallest request was met with a smile and promptly sorted. Dining was as good as, if not better than some exclusive restaurants we have been to. The lamb must have lost its way and wandered into the kitchen, as it melted in the mouth - simply superb. Its not cheap, unless you compare it to some of the big name places in the lakes. It stands comparison to any of them.

stayed there before with my family on a special birthday treat - staff were excellent, professional and polite customer service 2nd to none.Food first class and location breathtaking - nothing too much trouble. have stayed there three times and each time it gets better nothing at all to complain about - am in the travel industry myself and I like good customer services all the staff extended there duties. My grandson was with us last time and not well they could not do enough to make our stay perfect nor to not inconvenience other guests and handled the situation brilliant - they even pre phoned Penrith Hospital to see my grandson first - they even suggested that if he did not settle they would set up a private dining room where we could enjoy our evening meal with him in the room and away from others - not many hotels and staff would do this. There manners and attention from beginning to end are perfect a delight in this date and age.

Extremely comfortable country house accommodation. The staff were excellent and made us feel very welcome. Service is so personal that it's possible to feel like the only people in the hotel, although it was pretty busy. They were happy to help with all our requests, including drying off some extremely wet walking gear without a fuss. The food was good and the restaurant service was efficient yet relaxed. The room size was slightly small but beautifully furnished with a lovely bathroom. The hotel is close to some great walking country but we got the impression that most people come to relax rather than hike. Lovely choice of sitting rooms, some with log fires, for pre-dinner drinks and post- dinner coffee. Left feeling like we'd had a real break although we only stayed two nights.

Everything. We stayed on a mini break deal including dinner. The meals were outstanding. And while we were eating, some staff snuck into our room and turned down our bed! Amazing. We woke up to coffee delivered to the room each morning before tottling downstairs to another great meal at breakfast. The area's scenic, it's easy to get to Penrith and the motorway but so tranquil at the country house. All in all would stay again in a heartbeat, and would recommend this stay to anyone who loves a lazy weekend or otherwise. Wonderful! That there aren't more than 24 hours in the day.

The timing of our trip allowed us to enjoy the hotel when it was quiet, which really suited us. Staff were efficient and attentive and the interior of public rooms and our own room was clean, stylish and relaxing. The restaurant food was very good indeed and we would definitely stay again.

Rampsbeck is an excellent Country House Hotel in all respects. It is very comfortable and clean and the service is prompt and friendly. We stayed in a superior standard room which was of a good size and had every facility. The view on to the garden was beautiful and we could also see the lake. The restaurant has atmosphere and the standard of cuisine was high with good choices. The public areas were comfortable and the grounds were very well maintained. Although a little pricy, it still represented good value for money. We would return.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Everything was done with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very well appointed and comfortable. Toiletries, tea/coffee, and tasty biscuits all of good quality. Nice little extras. The breakfast was excellent with a good selection. If you left hungry, it would be your own fault! The evening meal was superb. Lovely areas to enjoy a drink around the fire or just relax and enjoy the wonderful lake views. Will definitely stay here again. The heating was a little too warm for our liking. We opened the windows in our room a little and then it was fine.
