Courtesy, the room and bathroom, the staff, the garden (must do something about the bit at the far end of garden), the milieu... The muesli was rather dull, when you consider what is on offer in the shops these days. The pianola self-playing was not very good (we learnt about the volume problems), and the endless Frank Sinatra which was on the previous evening in the bar was not at all our taste. People seldom object to having good tapes (Mozart, Bach), so why is such music never used in public spaces? |

Just an outstanding hotel in every respect-space, comfort, wonderful gardens and great cuisine. We stayed in eight hotels over twelve days-all nice- and this beat the lot. we tried to stay an extra night it was so good! |

The attention that the staff paid to the guests. Polite and helpful. The turn down service was a nice touch that would not normally be done at 3 star hotels. The 3 RAC rossette restaurant lived up to those 3 rossettes. The food was delicious and there was a good choice for those who appreciate fine food and wines. Our room was delightful with tastfully selected pieces of furniture and a good decorative pallate. The views to Ullswater were amazing. We especially enjoyed seeing the wild rabbits and birds in the gardens too. Only one small detail.. that my husband and I were refered to by our room number rather than our name when the general manager was alerting bar staff to our arrival for pre dinner drinks. This is not a complaint merely a factual observation. |
