Rampsbeck Country House Hotel  

We have stayed at the hotel a few times now and have always found it to be a most pleasant experience. A lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. You are made to feel very comfortable and the staff are very attentive and friendly.

The room was exceptional. Bed was very comfortable.

Staff had excellent combination of helpful, friendly, yet unobtrusive service. Lovely spot and comfy room with great bath. Good beds. Excellent breakfasts and dining room with nice touches and superb view.

Dinner was very good, but some of the flavours lacked clarity and bite in my opinion, particularly the amuse bouche. No big deal, but it didn't get the gastric juices flowing. Also the drying of our wet gear wasn't quite right(gloves and hats still wet), maybe review your drying arrangements, but again not important unless it rains plus, plus for several days.

Stunning views from the bedroom of the lake and mountains. Food exceptional. All staff without exception were superb - excellent standard of customer service. Rooms very well appointed with comfortable beds.

Excellent fine dining in a beautiful lake view restaurant. Very welcoming, attentive service from all staff.

Grounds and the building were very well presented and overall the accomodation was good. Facilities in room were fine. The food and wine list were well thought out Staff helpful and courtious Ambiance very relaxed, I was in the lakes with my wife without the children to remember my mother who had died in December 2012, (hence chosing not to complain about the elements we did not like (bags, wine, cocktails)

There were details which left it being just good when it could have achieved excellent with a little attention. Welcome at reception lacked the personal touch (how was your journey etc...) No welcome on arrival to take bags up to room. I carried two heavy suitcases. Bedroom temperature way too high Waiting staff although helpfull didn't know the menu to the level I would expect e.g when food is presented guests like to know what's on the plate and don't want to have to ask. Residue in wine poored into my glass, nearly spat out across the room had to spit into napkin. Cocktails, Vodka Martini was made with OLD martini which flavoured and coloured the drink. Did not order again the following night. Shelf in cubboard was loose. The Brass loop was later found on the floor and fitted by myself after the shelf collapsed Car park outside the front windows spoils the view across the lake. Move to side of the hotel still allow temporary parking on arrival for bags I would expect the papers to come as part of the room price.

This is an extremely comfortable and well run hotel in a spectacular location on the shores of Ullswater. Our room was spacious and equipped with everything one could want. The public rooms are also very comfortable. Staff friendly and efficient.

Dinner was good in parts. Main course (pheasant) was a disappointment with seriously undercooked sprouts and over elaborate cooking of the pheasant. Starters and puddings were well done.

We received a warm welcome from all the staff. Our room was lovely and the bed really comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing. A really top notch hotel, we really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again soon.

We had our small wedding there 3 years ago and this was our first return trip. The location is wonderful on the lake and we had a lovely view of the side garden and the end of the lake. The staff are excellent - so friendly and attentive in a genuine way. The food is excellent - not cheap but value for money as a luxury especially with all the small extras like deliciious canapes in the bar before dinner, extra little cup of excellent soup. Highly recommended

We were made to fell welcome from the moment we stepped into the hotel. Staff could not have been more helpful or friendly, and we were looked after very well indeed throughout our stay. Our meal in the hotel was absolutely delicous. Afternoon tea was very good too. Attention to detail, comfort and a warm relaxed atmosphere made for a most pleasant stay.

All very professional - the dining is superb, fine dining at its best - room was very nice with wonderful bathroom and very comfortable, sky tv plus all extras one could expect - location is idyllic right on the shore of Ullswater - wonderul scenery and perfectly located for walking the lake, fells, waterfalls etc
