Great location and easy to find. Lovely grounds and had the wow factor as soon as you walked in due to beautiful Xmas decorations. We stayed in the basic room yet this still outclassed some higher grade rooms visited at other hotels. The Rib Room food was delicious. Most of the staff were warm and welcoming and overall I was blown away by the standard and value. The service provided in the bar was appalling. On 2 occasions nobody was in attendance for 15 mins and the young female working in the evening was quite cool and unhelpful. Room not available at 2pm for check in. Slightly disappointed that I advised stay was a special occasion and no mention made. Whilst I didn't expect much of a gesture for the price paid a congratulatory comment upon check in would have made a difference.

We had a brilliant overnight stay at ramside, staff were very friendly and helpful, especially reception and in the golf shop. My partner played 9 holes before we left and found it an excellent course. Our room was large and gorgeous and a fantastic bath. Very easy to find off the a1. Breakfast was a huge selection. Plenty of parking, we got one right by our room.

Lovely quiet location but close to durham. Beautiful room/ bathroom out of this world and very enjoyable place for celebrating the birthday of a loved one Could not find a remote for the dvd player and tv in the bedroom was very small, also very limited in tv channels. Would have expected better quality in those respects for the presidential suite.

Good location, friendly staff, nice quiet lounges to sit in. We stayed for a week-end, there where 3 functions on and it was very noisy in the next bedroom between 1.00 and 2.00am. I booked a twin room and got a double.

Nice rooms. Grill menu not very good so we ate at the carvery. Main problem is only Halibut for fish, and quite expensive overall.

Great location just off the a1 but in really nice countryside. The heating for the room was a wall mounted fan heater that kicked in when the temperature dropped below the set level. This meant that during the night the noisy rattling fan heater would start up every 15 minutes or so which didn't make for a great night's sleep!

Well staffed, good, friendly service. Service My rioom was looking a bit tired, although comfortable. Towel radiator in bathroom patched up with tape. Decor a little worn. Acces to restaurant and bar via bedroom corridor from reception area a little odd and not aprticularly inviting.

There was a feel of 'luxury' to it. Very elegantly furnished with lots of comfortable seating and pleasant and helpful staff. Good restaurants and lovely grounds. Would definitely stay again. It was a pity about the wedding reception where the music didn't stop until 11.50pm. It would have been nice if we could have been warned previously about the possibility of this happening as we would have requested a room at the other end of the hotel.

Very good reception staff and comfortable room We ate in the resteraunt and whilst my steak was very good, my partner and daughter had a very poor vegetarian meal. Whilst they charged us for only one of the two, it was still very disapointing!

Very comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Very clean and everything you would expect. Reception staff helpful and friendly. The hotel tried to charge us £11.95 for a bowl of muesli as this is the standard charge for a breakfast; one of the dishes we ordered in the restaurant was badly cooked and not as described on the menu. The bedroom corridor was very noisy until late at night.

Everything was first rate from the friendly welcome and efficiency of checking in to the comfort of our short stay. We were attending a ball in the bishop suite and a fantastic evening was had by all. In a wonderful venue. Not a single complaint.

Location Booked table No 2 @ Rib room for 20:00hrs - given menu's straight away. But the order was not taken until 45 minutes later. Poor service attention for a hotel with so much promise.

The bedroom was particularly comfortable and of a good size, I would only ask for a view of the golf course next time. I do like to be able to get a few holes or go to the golf driving range when I stay away so ideal for me. My only concerns with the hotel was the restaurant and bar facilities wheich are rather limited. The main breakfast and evening dining room had the feel of a canteen rather than a 4 star hotel. As the hotel is a little outside of Durham then there is not really an alternative without driving. The golf club has a huge bar and is the only place to watch the sport but they stop serving food at 5pm and there were only 3 guest in the bar. There were more staff but they decided to wash the cutlary on the table next to where we were sitting so that they could watch the match too.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. Huge bed, exceptionally clean and fab view over gardens and golf course. We will definitely stay again. Only thing I could say would be an improvement would be if breakfast was included.
