Location Tired rooms representing poor value for money, strange smells on 4th floor corridors, slow lift to 4th floor, cold room (401), rock hard fried bread at breakfast / no self service on cooked breakfast, ineffective shower screen (bathroom floor became soaked / leathal following shower), price / star rating. The hotel is a 3/4 star by any yard stick and the decor needs refreshing!

1Proximity to Ashmolean- this is why we selected the hotel ! 2 Porter and car valet service good but at great cost 1.The welcome, initially claimed we didn't have a booking and this continued all of our stay 2 The room should have been sold as a single and not double- inadequate space to unpack & store 3.Food very poor. 4. Noise- fans continued throughout the night. Room air con didn't work 5. Living on its reputation of bygone days 6 .Would not use hotel again

The staff are what makes the Randolph. It was an experience to stay at the Randolph having seen it so many times in Morse it was one of those things that we just had to do and the staff didn't disappoint as nothing was too much trouble for any one of them. Superb!*!* We were put in the naughty room, room 101, which has NO outlook what so ever (believe us) and is noisy from 3am onwards! The room though was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean but for the price paid, over £200 per night/room, we think you could do better.

Central , lovely old building. Grossly overpriced Wrongly labelled as 5 star ( more like 3 ) Food in restaurant was good but not gourmet as advertised. Had to wait 30 minutes between starter and main course and restaurant was not even busy. Bedroom 343 was roasting hot and heat could not be adjusted apparently(!) Cocktails were £10.50 and £13.50 - ridiculous prices. I ordered Cheshire Cat and discovered that the ingredient that made it special (marmalade) had been omitted as it was too difficult to mix ! I think it should not be advertised for sale in that case! Wine list yearswere adjusted by pencil scribbles - hardly 5 star !! Alex Polizzi would have a field day here correcting the oversights and omissions....

My Room, and the Hotel. comfort The service in the lounge. We were not made to feel welcome when we asked for your afternoon cream tea by on particular member of staff, but the other staff member was very helpful. I gave my car keys to the concierge as I was told to so he could park my car, and I got the impression he was saying what do you want me to do with these. I was not pleased with his attitude. The other concierges that I dealt with during my stay were very helpful.

Extra facilities in room, E.G. bathrobe, tea-making. Badly stained undersheet on bed - from an old people's home? Deputy Manager (Raymond, I think) was very off-hand dealing with a problem I'd had on a previous visit even though the Manager had asked to see me before checking in on my next visit.
