Central Oxford. Easy access to Colleges. Morse Bar in memory of John Thaw. Concierge very helpful. Shown as 5 Star. It is not.Room well below 3 Star standard. Bed was a small double. Very uncomfortable mattress. Could not sleep. Noisy fans running all night. Tv had very few channels. Everything totally overcharged. Nothing value for money. Booked the hotel for 2 nights. Hotel increased rate for second night by £80.00 without telling us. When I queried this on check-out, I was told that this was in accordance with Booking.com terms. Breakfast was £14.90 for continental. Cooked breakfast was £7.50 extra. Morse Bar - Glass of house red was over £9.00. Get the same outside within 200 yards for £4.00. Dinner. Overpriced. Not 5 Star. Staff overbearing - constantly checking if food was alright. It was average. Do not stay at this Hotel. There are plenty of others in the vivinity who offer value for money.

Central Location We thought that £17.50 for full engilish breakfast a very expensive and an extra £3.50 for kippers ludicrous. The continental breakfast at £14.50 was also greatly over priced. We objetced so much to these prices that we did not have a single breakfast in the hotel.

I thought the staff were very good and the location was excellent. The room was good and in excellent condition, although about a 10minute walk from reception! The free city sightseeing tour was a very nice touch. It felt pricey for what it is and the breakfast was not of the standard I'd expect at this star rating or price (particularly the quality but also the presentation). The same can be said of the bar. Nearly £15 for a glass of champagne is worse than central London pricing.

1- we had double beds when we asked a big bed 2- the desk was too small, when we specifically asked for a room with a large desk 3- the wifi was inadequate as it was not allowing for vpn 4- the tv channel selection and quality was bad 5- It was incredibly expensive for being a luxury hotel without the luxury

I very much did not like that during check in in hotel from my credit card have taken off 370 pounds; real cost of stay in this hotel for 2 night (17 and 18 of April,2011) for my is 304 pounds, a difference in 66 pounds the peception's clerk promised to return during 2 days. However, till now, the sum of 66 pounds is not returned to me.

The hotel was very central for shops sights ,The staff polite .The breakfast ample good service nice bar but pricey The fact that adverstised was a sauna steam but no mention of payment thought it would be free for guests to use but a charge of £15 even though you could use this as many times as you want it should have been explained before booking

I only stayed for one night. Loved the magnificent building, excellent location and extreme cleanliness of the room. (Please excuse my English, it is not my native language) At the moment of payment a charge of 2 pounds was made for using a credit card. Of course it is a very small amount of money, but I haven't payed it in others hotels and felt that, for the rate of this hotel, was a little bit annoying to have this charge. (Please excuse my English, it is not my native language)

The location, friendly staff and excellent facilities. I was disapointed that i had to pay a sur charge of £26 just to park my car at the back of the hotel but not informed when booking. Also as an executive room having to put the kettle on the floor to boil water as there were no sockets near to the tea / making facilities. These are only very minor issues with what was a lovely stay.

Fabulous staff - made you feel nothing was too much trouble. Extremely courteous and discreet I thought the bedroom let the hotel down. The walls were marked in the room. The grouting around the bath was either mouldy or dirty (didnt bother checking out which). There were two ladies sharing but only one set of complimentary toiletries ie. one shampoo, one soap etc. Other 5 star hotels I have stayed at there has always been complimentary toothpaste/toothbrush and although this seems quite a picky thing to mention it would have been nice to have had that.

Very friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Comfortable, well-equipped room. Superb restaurant. Excellent location for city centre and colleges, right opposite Ashmolean museum. Overall a high degree of luxury and attantion. Basic room rate (~£200) and restaurant (£24 for 2-course meal) not unreasonable for quality provided and for location. Bar prices really excessive (e.g. £10-12 for a single 50 ml whisky, £8 up for a glass of wine). Breakfast buffet good on fruit and pastries but a bit thin on mains for £20 (only cooked ham and cheese). Biggest insult however - a £2 charge for using a credit card ("administrative costs" which of course they are not) - truly miserly on a £600+ bill - are MacDonald hotels run by Michael O'Leary? Is it worth it to give such a bad impression of parsimony to an international clientele?

The Spa was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpfull Service at breakfast was slow on Sunday and extremely slow on Monday, waiting for a table for 15 minutes and then waiting 30 minutes for a cooked breakfast. Also the prices in the Morse bar? £16.40 for a bottle of Budweiser and a bacardi and lemonade? Your guests are not all millionaires, we chose the 5 star Hotel for our anniversary celebration weekend, we had a couple of drinks in the Morse bar but put them on the room so didn't know how much they were until we got the bill at check out. I was surprised and disappointed.

the breakfast though expensive paying an extra £2 for credit card charge and another £2 for newspaper. Given the price of the room thought that should be included.

The staff were polite and eager to help. The hotel is well located and accessible to most places of interest in Oxford. It is within walking distance of most colleges. I called front desk at night and asked for a wake up call at 7:30 am. The wake up call never came and consequently I was late for my breakfast meeting.

The staff were absolutely great. They were helpful, cheerful, friendly and curteous from the doorman to the maids. Nothing was too much trouble and all requests were accomplished quickly and cheerfully. I gave a 'fair' grade for value as I felt the prices in the bar were exorbitant and unwarranted as the bar was part of the entrance so draughty, busy with arrivals, luggage etc. The constant bustle didn't make for a relaxing atmosphere, I've been in more restful transit lounges. The beds are double so felt small and it were made up with sheets and a blanket not the luxury linen and duvet I would have expected from the cost of the rooms. Breakfast was OK but not exactly generous for the price.

The location in the centre of Oxford was what we were looking for. The hotel was comfortable. We had two dinners in the main dining room. The first night the food was excellent. The second night the main course was inedible due to the amount of salt in it. We had an Executive room which was comfortable. However it was literally hundreds of metres from reception with no quick way of getting to the restaurant, bar or main exit.

We arrived on a hot afternoon and were allocated a room with no functioning air conditioning. After alerting reception they promised to send someone from maintenance, however very shortly we received a call to say that they would give us another room. I think the staff were aware there was a problem with the room but thought they would use it on the off chance that no one would complain. As the hotel was full I fear that someone else would not have the option of being moved and would have had to suffer the heat.
