This transformed former Victorian prison is now a stunning boutique hotel offering unique luxury in historic Oxford.
Score from 734 reviews Very good
This peaceful, elegant hotel with a country-manor style is a 10-minute walk from the center of Oxford. It has a restaurant and bar, a cozy lounge, and pleasant guest bedrooms.

Close to everything, very comfortable, valet parking...handy in Oxford. Staff very friendly.
Annoying wifi drops out a lot.
courteous staff comfortable bed lovely bathroom beauty of decoration and furniture perfect location
price of items in mini bar in room
Location Breakfast was good
Very tired building. Poor quality and dingy corridors. Bathroom with shower over bath .. not good for older folks or those with mobility issues.
Location, afternoon tea
Bedside light inadequate to read by
Location, friendly staff
Room was unbearably hot. Windows wouldn't open much. Air con didn't work. Far too hot to sleep.
Gym, staff, location.
Good quality bread at breakfast
Shower needed attention
Beautiful hotel. Detailing is exceptional. Comfortable room. Well equiped. Excellent service. Polite staff.
It is an old hotel and you can hear every noise in the hallway outside the room. Car parking expensive.
The room. Old,dated, poor bathroom. Not value for money. Breakfast, even continental at £19.50 pp. We ate out. We would not return there.
The restaurant was superb and the service for the rooms and elsewhere in the hotel was excellent
The room was quite dark and £28 to park is too expensive
First time at Randoph as was full previous so book early. Room loveley and enjoyed the deep bath at the end of a long day. Staff are absolutely brilliant. Deserve 6 stars. Super concierge service. More stars. Excellent meal in restaurant, which can be expensive but worth it. Tea room/coffee lounge a great place to relax or retreat from the weather. Comfortable bar area which does not intrude. There was a bit of a glitch with my booking which came to light when I phoned to book parking n dinner res. However hotel resolved in less than 30mins and upgraded room. Super location, beautiful building quite breathtaking inside and the history speaks for itself. Felt very safe, cosseted and cared for.
If bringing your own car (or a hire car) be aware the pull in area at main entrance fills up. Had to park on a double yellow but Concierge moved the car quickly. Ditto for retrieving car from garage. If turning right on the way out don't panic, wait for the lights on the right and be prepared to stick your nose out between the white vans. The designated smoking area is actually the main entrance. Which is not nice for either smokers or non smokers.
Location; the usual character features particular to so many MacDonald hotels; spa; service; and air con.
I paid £300 for an Exec room. Breakfast was extra. The room was not in this league and frankly neither is the hotel. It is getting tired. The room was big but no special features; small tv; a long walk from reception; bad view; and for the price I could have had similar at half the price. Even for £150 I would have been unhappy at having to spend more on breakfast. Tip - only stay here if you book well ahead and get the Booking.com best price.
Staff were EXCELLENT. Courteous and helpful in everyway. They dealt with our dis-satisfaction with our room perfectly. Breakfast is superb. The location is one of the best in Oxford.
The first room we were allocated was pokey at best (considering the cost) the furnishings are worn and very outdated as are the decorative tiles in the bathroom (1990s) The chandelier was being held together with a zip tie! The room we were upgraded to was much more the size expected and while the decor was better, again the furniture was very tired, the arms of the chairs were worn through which was very surprising. While I was in the bath we had a maid come in to explain that there was a leak coming through to the floor below.... in the end they decided it must be the pipes.
Very nice facility with great location, good wi-fi.
Had to ask three times for the room safe to be reset, twice for the room to be resupplied with water (with several hours between each request). Understand the staff can be busy, but did not expect to have to make multiple requests over the span of time it took to have problems corrected.
Staff with poor English skills, not particularly helpful. Breakfast was a Fawlty Towers experience where wrong meal brought out twice and tea never arrived.
Perfect location, traditional hotel. Breakfast buffet very good, cooked breakfast good but limited choice.
The bed and pillows very soft, initially seemed comfortable but we both had back/neck ache by the morning. Shame an optional harder pillow wasn't available in the room.
I would not class this as a 5 star hotel. In fact, I found it quite ordinary. When we arrived on the Saturday afternoon the foyer was chaotic and there was a long queue to book in and I noticed that there were 4 concierge grouped together having a conversation instead of trying to be of some assistance. The hotel is overrated and I would not stay there again and definitely not recommend it to anyone. The Malmaison in Oxford is far superior and we will be staying there again on our next visit Oxford.
extra price at restaurant, birthday celebration mentioned and without asking promised to give small cake but turned out 2 small cookies. Therefore pls don't promise if you can not deliver it and unfriendly staff at counter and concierge.
Location and staff
Afternoon tea - long wait for fresh scones that were overdone when they came out. Poor standard for a £50 tea for two.
Rooms - move to the 4th floor if you don't want to be woken by creaking floorboards overhead if you are in the old part The phone for room service rang and rang and rang... Hasn't been maintained well - holes badly filled, patched up paintwork Ridiculously priced
Location in central Oxford Character of the hotel Cleanliness
Cost Busy, somewhat pretentious You have to ask for a decent room - they initially stuck me in an extremely small room with a view of a brick wall
The bathroom and shower facilities were excellent; a truly lovely experience, and I enjoyed using the Nespresso coffee machine in the room, rather than the usual instant coffee powder. The bed was also very comfortable. The Morse bar is a lovely space, certainly, and the staff are friendly and professional.
For a five star hotel and at £309 for an executive double room per night, one expects the carpet to be unstained. It had three large stains on it, and the room itself, while comfortable, was certainly not five star in standard or quality, being along a busy corridor and with thin walls - we heard a couple rowing next door early in the morning. That the fire alarm also went off early in the morning was not conducive to a good night's rest, either. I felt as though I had been shortchanged, frankly. Also, the hotel charged me an extra £100 to cover any possible extras, to be released to my account as soon as it was ascertained that I hadn't used any extras, and have not yet released it to me - two days later. The onus was on me to check my account to see if it had been repaid, and then call them to make the necessary reimbursement. However, perhaps this was because we had checked out on a Sunday, when the banks were closed and there was therefore an unavoidable delay?
I had to keep logging in to the wifi
A truly lovely experience... from the surroundings to the staff a very genuine and enoyable Oxford experience I would highly recommend it!
No blankets for bed as the room was coldish. No shower gell or cap.
