Lovely ambiance in reception area and restaurant, bar etc. Lovely breakfast.
Awful bathroom - no proper shower. The bath was so old it had actually been painted (badly) and all the paint was peeling... other guests that were staying for a party wee apparently told that they were the only guests in the hotel and consequently made a terrible noise all evening and early in the morning, talking outside our door, slamming doors etc. They were very apologetic when challenged but it was too late.
Lovely old building, with some alterations over time, mix of decors and some parts looking pretty tatty but overall really enjoyed the stay. Dinner was good and breakfast excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. It is on a main road but set back so road noise was not an issue for us.
Friendly owner and staff. Great food!!!
The room I stayed in was in need of updating
Good location. Cheerful staff
Frozen, cheap sausages at breakfast
Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.
Bathroom small and the shower could have been more powerful.
The food was tremendous, both dinner and breakfast were well cooked and well presented.
The staff were poorly organised and not very attentive. When I arrived the chef whomever I assume is the owner looked at me carrying all my bags in and just sat at his desk that was not very well situated to get a view of the guests arriving. After a good 5 mins or more I ended up approaching him and he reacted as if I had ruined his day by entering the building and disturbing his web surfing or whatever he was doing. I ate in the restaurant and was one of only 3 tables when I arrived and 2 after a very short time. The waitress finally took my order and brought me the wrong drink, the waiter eventually took my food order and to be fair the food was perfect however, I then ordered a desert and after 35 mins when it still didn't return needed to approach the main desk to advise them that it was too late and I no longer wanted the desert, it seems the waiter had forgotten to place my order, after all he must have been rushed off his feet with 2 diners!
Location is the only +.
Room was very dirty and dusty.Bed very unconfortable, bathroom stank of urine, very badly demaged. You can hear every noise from other rooms. Breakfast was ok,but again dead flies and bugs lying around, discuisting and dirty. Zero customer service, and the idea that you are locked out and you can not go anywhere at night!!! Very bad hotel, don't stay there if you don't need to!
Hotel was well located and my stay was comfortable and pleasant.
I can find nothing to complain about.
The overall appearance of the property was lovely and the dining and bar area were very well presented. The food was lovely and the service was very good.
I believe that the owners are in the process of re-doing the rooms and our room certainly needed it. The tiles in the bathroom were very shabby, with little or no grout at all. It gives the appearance of being a nice quiet little place but sadly the noise, both from the road and the airport meant that it was far from quiet.
Friendly staff, helpful, never too much trouble if you asked for something, very obliging. Good food, good value for Money, Lovely premises in attractive sorroundings
Everything was generally ok apart from a couple of points.
I could not get any cold water in my room no matter what I did with the tap. The pillows aren't particularly comfy and there should be an option of different types like in premier inns.
The young lad who checked us in was pleasant
Service with a snarl at breakfast. Awful food. Accommodation nothing like website. Bed very uncomfortable as mattress was knackered. Dusty and worn decor. Wouldn't stay again
Quiet location. Good facilities for a small hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Very fair price for weekend booking. Excellent evening meal in restaurant.
Bath in one room needs replacing - paint peeling off bath and tile grouting badly discoloured. Rooms otherwise very clean and comfortable.
Great staff and management
The Staff seemed very friendly and polite. Overall the room and bathroom was a good size and clean.
I didn't like having to hand my room key in when leaving the premises. I didn't like finding out Breakfast was served at 8am at weekends, even though it stated 7am in the room. I didn't like being locked in to the building. I was unable to get out to an important meeting one morning, in the end I found I fire escape to get out of the building. I didn't like having to let the owners know what time I was planning on returning each night I stayed. And having to call them to let me in. The shower was very poor, but overall the room and bathroom was a good size and clean.
The room was large and had all the facilities I would expect.
No shower or curtains on the bathroom windows.
Chef was excellent and staff were very friendly The Hotel was very interesting and we enjoyed our stay The location was great
The room was a bit tired and shower needs to be updated One member of staff tended to hurry us too much. We needed to chill and relax
Lovely setting. The room was tastefully decorated and clean, the staff very pleasant and helpful, the food in the restaurant excellent.
It was slightly expensive, but not, I think, compared to other hotels in that area.
Food - rancid butter and over done steaks. Fresh fruit at breakfast not very fresh and not much to choose from.
Lovely welcoming staff, very friendly and helpful
Intermittent picture on TV, only able to access wifi once during stay
NEEDS SOME PEP
Breakfast was very good
Bathroom needed a bit of attention, bath peeling and under taps not very clean. Cobwebs in windows
The staff were very helpful and polite. The beds, linen and towels were of a very high standard and the free WiFi was useful too. Although we didn't drink in the bar it looked very homely and welcoming with a roaring fire and comfy seating.
I have read reviews about beautiful refurbished rooms so improvements are being made but there is still a way to go to get the hotel up to date throughout and I wish them well with this as it's a very characterful property. The evening menu could do with being broadened to include more choice and a daily specials board would bring the locals in for the evening. Lastly, the lobby had a smell of stale cooking when we arrived, this was late afternoon and wasn't a very good first impression.
Lovely and really friendly staff
