Score from 437 reviews Excellent
Loved the old building with its beams, great open fire places, the four poster room was lovely and the walk in shower was huge, nice that we had biscuits with the tea/coffee making stuff.
Did have some disturbance from a wedding party, we could hear them chatting away and the creaky floorboards into the function room where they were were a constant irritation up until about midnight
Quaint hotel, friendly staff, excellent poached eggs - always a good test!
Decor a bit tired but I'm being über picky!
Wonderful food and log fires and general ambience.
bathrooms a little tired but very clean refurbishment being carried out in new year apparently then it will be perfect.
I loved the friendly attitude of all the staff, very helpful. I loved the evening meal and the breakfast, the vegetable lasagne was the best I have had for a while.
I had terrible trouble with the Wifi, it kept dropping out all the time. I even took the liberty of rebooting their power line AV adaptor which was outside my room. That helped but it was still intermittent. Next time I am there I will offer to set it up properly for them as I work in IT!!
Friendly staff. Although normally at Sundayevening no meals are served the still prepared me a meal.
Quaint but very tired
Very tired and dated. No shower. Bath peeling. Stayed 5 years ago and not much been updated
Check in was poor Breakfast experience was awful An old, tired establishment passed it's sell by date
All of it
Food was nice and I liked the cosy feeling of the bar area. Nice old building.
My toilet had not been cleaned from the previous occupant. The shower was very cold in the morning even after leaving it running for a long period of time. There was no room in the bathroom, the sink needs to be smaller. The bathroom was in need of a refresh, paint was tired.
Pleasant staff and a good location for visiting Billingshurst. Breakfast was also good.
The hotel is now tired and in need of refurbishment. Hotel corridors and stairs had not seen a vacuum cleaner for several days. Decor firmly back in the 80's.
Very poor sound insulation between rooms
The food was very good and the staff very helpful
The hotel had not prepared for the onset of autumn and we found it cold. No hot water on arrival at 4pm but ok the next morning
The atmosphere was totally relaxing, the staff were great, and the food simply fantastic.
Food: Dinner and breakfast
Needs more refurbishment
The menu and wine list was much more varied than we anticipated and the quality very good, more than we expected of a hotel in this price range. The staff we helpful and friendly. Overall excellent value for money.
Nothing really given the very competitive price and expectations of a hotel in this price range.
Over priced, we thought we would get more for the price. Although clean, the rooms are small and not very light. Although service was good the cooked breakfast was poor, and ingredients used were not good quality, especially not what you'd expect for the price!
Cosy lounge area had been recently refurbished and restaurant was light and airy.
Our room hadn't yet been refurbished and we were disappointed with the bathroom. The bath was advertised as a feature of the room but the bath was stained and the shower screen was old and had limescale stains. Our room was at front of hotel next to main road so was quite noisy with traffic.
Lovely ambiance in reception area and restaurant, bar etc. Lovely breakfast.
Awful bathroom - no proper shower. The bath was so old it had actually been painted (badly) and all the paint was peeling... other guests that were staying for a party wee apparently told that they were the only guests in the hotel and consequently made a terrible noise all evening and early in the morning, talking outside our door, slamming doors etc. They were very apologetic when challenged but it was too late.
The bathroom was so old and grubby I needed a shower but I would not get into the over bath shower because the tile grout was black with Mold and the shower head looked like something from the 1950's. The owner claimed he was refurbishing to 4 star standard but no refurbishment has started, it's just a con to excuse the run down state of the hotel
Lovely old building, with some alterations over time, mix of decors and some parts looking pretty tatty but overall really enjoyed the stay. Dinner was good and breakfast excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. It is on a main road but set back so road noise was not an issue for us.
Friendly owner and staff. Great food!!!
The room I stayed in was in need of updating
Good location. Cheerful staff
Frozen, cheap sausages at breakfast
