The old but modern hotel in a picturesque coastal setting.

Needed a little bit of renovation work in places.

The location is superb, great views and a very quiet and peaceful setting.

The hotel was very full and it seemed that the facilities and staff were stretched to their limit, eg not being able to book a table for dinner between 6.30 and 8.0pm. Room comfortable, plenty of drawers, but lacks a grab rail for the shower - not all guests are fully mobile & agile.

The view and grounds are exceptional, Dining was exceptional and can be recommended.

The room was dated and needed refurbished. The quick coat of white paint was insufficient to cover the blemishes and the WiFi didn't work. Our room was round the back overlooking the yard. It was noisy with items being blown around in the yard, the fans for the kitchen going until late and starting early. Saying this if the room was changed then I would return.

Food was to a very high standard. View was nice from the lodge we stayed in, this was a vast improvement on the standard room we upgraded from.

Cleanliness of the rooms could have been better, however they were to a reasonable standard.

Location is wonderful with views over Robin Hoods Bay. The rooms are spacious and individually furnished - no corporate image here. The public rooms are comfortable with big leather chairs and sofas. Staff are helpful and efficient. Food is good and special dietary needs are catered for.

the location high up on the cliff top with views to take your breath away must rank number 1. gardens to stroll in with afternoon tea or a stronger drink, watching the seals on the rocks basking far below with gulls soaring tiny fishing boats and a horizon that stretches to eternity.

with such a lovely place both inside and out, good leisure facilities what could you dislike.

    Location with fantadtic views.

Reception staff not customer friendly. On arrival told that room wasn't ready, a very negative response. On ringing cleaning team advised that room was ready after all. Why make the first negative statement. No eye contact and we had to ask how to get to our room. Very poor customer service. On check out next day, no eye contact with customer, no asking if there were any problems, they just seemed interested in taking money and getting another customer out of the way.some in house training might be advised.

The location and the staff service are really good. We upgraded to get a sea view

The hotel is dated and dowdy. When it rained water poured in above the window. I think other rooms were also affected and the staff are used to dealing with it. There was a lot of water and it was very near the electric sockets

We were a bit concerned reading reviews about ' tired furnishings ' but we liked the rooms we were allocated. Room 101- family room with double bedroom overlooking the bay and separate twin bedded room attached especially good. We did not have the evening meal, but felt the value for money for bed and breakfast through booking.com was very good. Very good customer service; response to issues, e.g. loose w.c. seat was positive and immediate. Good facilities in swimming pool sauna and games room kept the three young adults in the family gainfully occupied. And the view...... lots of places to sit outdoors and reflect on the splendour of the natural surroundings. A peaceful place.

the plumbing could be a bit noisy, (but not the end of the world) the wi fi experienced a few problems with intermittent service
