Hotel was nice and warm. Staff and service excellent. Very good food which was actually served on nice hot plates [so many establishments use cold plates so food goes cold quickly !]
No real ale !!!
no where to sit with our freinds who took there dog, apart from small room at the front that was really cold. bar meals need a room to eat food where the dog can stay with them. the hotel offers dogs to be allowed so shouldn't be having to leave them ! Spoilt are friends break & also ours because we all went to be together.
Situated on top of the cliffs at Ravenscar, this is a lovely place for a winter break. Coastal walks with beautiful seascapes all around and cosy log fires to return to. A daily changing menu provides delicious fare in the restaurant which has amazing views over Robin Hood's Bay.
the location & views from the breakfast room.
rooms particularly the bathroom were not warm enough..also the pool was cool..would have liked a jacuzzi nxt to the pool..&...a check out time a bit later.
Lovely big room with fantastic views. Well located for walking or cycling . More spectacular view from dining room. Good food Good service.
The Large bedroom, and the open fire.
No double glazing, hence wind noise, bathroom could of been cleaner, loose side to it with grime.
It was warm and welcoming.Staff were keen to please and helpful
I didn't like the prices on the menu . I thought they were rather expensive.
views bars/lounges food staff décor location atmosphere facilities- will be great in the spring/summer
bedroom very small swimming pool very small vegetarian food expensive- same price as meat dishes e.g. veggie pasta the same price as expensive meat
Location is excellent
Staff presented as mechanical with no rapport with guests. We both felt let down from our previous visit which Was really good
The accommodation was homely and welcoming. The food was excellent and the staff were extremely polite and courteous. It has without doubt one of the best locations anywhere; I defy anyone to not wake up every morning and, seeing those views, think "Wow!"
The wi-fi was abysmal; maybe this is due to the amount of "traffic" it gets i.e. virtually every time someone walks through the door with a device (e.g.phone) switched onto wi-fi, they are using up data space. Perhaps it would be better to have a memorable passkey that people would have to ask for, thus reducing the passing data traffic and helping with the signal strength
The room was very large and comfortable, it had a fabulous view from all of the windows and was beautifully decorated. The location of this hotel is wonderful with fantastic uninterrupted sea views. The breakfast was excellent. and the staff were polite and friendly. Excellent value for money.
The bathroom let the room down as it was small and cramped and needed updating, although it was very clean.
The view from the hotel room was fantastic the hotel restaurant was beautiful and staff very friendly really cosy hotel excellent food
The hotel room was cold and very tired the hotel rooms needed refurbishment
View from room (203) Food The grounds Golf course Swimming pool
Clean and comfortable room commanding a fantastic view over Robin Hoods Bay - we will try and go back some time.
It was a very windy night and our window howled - non-stop - I should have told them! We were in room for disabled users and it had the smallest of sinks - hard to shave in.
Views from rooms Good size bedrooms Excellent value for money Fantastic afternoon tea Attentive and friendly staff
Excellent hotel and the staff were exceptional
Setting of the hotel
No heating on in the room when we arrived in December! Windows are old and are draughty Needs some improvements
Always love visiting Ravenscar & Robin Hoods Bay.
Our room looked a little tired & dated.
The view is what we went there for. Overlooking Robin Hood's Bay from the room and restaurant The evening meal in the restaurant. Breakfast was ok only
On our second night at 10pm loud music was heard in our room. So loud you could hear every word to the song. It was coming from The Viking Suite (a private dining suite only and not a function room) below our room. At 10:30pm I complained to reception who spoke to management. They were only taking photos and doing a quiz. Come back later if it doesn't stop. At 23:30 back to reception which is now shut. I find someone behind the bar who is filling a tray of glasses to go into the suite. He is now in charge and will tell them to turn it down. Music continues loudly along with shouting and stops at 01:30. Followed by F this F that as they walked up the stairs. Complain to Duty Manager before booking out. He was aware of the events of that night. They were regular customers who put money the hotels way. 2 had been told to leave in the early hours. I will be offered £20 (the cost of an upgrade for the 2 nights) as a good will gesture. Did i want to speak to the hotel manager who was there?Yes I did as not happy about the hotel not doing anything to stop the noise after being made aware of it twice and the lack of sleep. Duty manager comes back with a card. I am to correspond with the Hotel manager via email or letter. So i did and I received the following unprofessional reply. Thank you for your e-mail below regarding your stay with us on the 7th – 9th November. I was sorry to read that you were disturbed on one of your nights by the guest having private dining in the Viking Suite. Additionally I am sorry that you feel the duty manager at the time was less than sympathetic to your issues. I can assure you this was not his intention. I was not available to see you during your stay as I was on a rare weekend off and this is why Alin gave you my card should you wish to contact me. It is disappointing when one of our customers has cause to complain especially when it appears that you enjoyed your stay in the main.
Ample car parking Pleasant relaxed atmosphere The Staff especially the young students were most attentive and helpful, and with a good command of English
we found the twin-bed room too cramped, beds far too close to each other, and with no view to speak of, very disappointing,
Breakfast was good
We had a mix up with our room And we're given a room overlooking the rooftop of the dining room This was really disappointing as we asked for a sea view The mattress on the bed dipped so we were rolling into the middle all night
Location, views, food was nice, staff were helpful but could be slightly more chatty etc.
Not being able to check in until 3. Having to check out by 10:30. Some parts of the hotel looked a bit worn.
