The food was excellent, the staff were very nice and friendly and the service was very good. We would go there again as we felt happy in the main. We chose a 'Superior Room' and although it was very nice, it didn't have such a feeling of luxury as we expected. There was no bottled water in the room and the tea/coffee making facilities were quite limited. Fresh milk could be obtained if asked for. The decor was looking a bit tired in the bedroom (and the Hotel.entrance). Our bathroom was excellent however. There was no lift, so we had to carry our cases upstairs and as we are both 80 years of age and my wife had problems with her leg it was a bit difficult.

Our room was clean and was a fair size however, it was rather cold despite the radiator being on all the time. The bed was rather uncomforatble and in our opinion requires a new matress. The bathroom was clean and modern and thanks to underfloor heating was always warm. The food was excellent but we felt the menu would be improved with a slightly larger selection of main courses. The staff were always cheerful and helpful. We enjoyed out stay at the Ravenstone Hotel and would go back without hesitation.

Lovely old hotel with bags of character and charm. The new owners were always helpful and friendly. We stayed in Rm 3 with the 4 poster bed - the room was lovely, spacious and had beautiful views. We stayed DBB and the food was excellent. Great spot for exploring and walking.

Friendly, helpful owners and staff. The food was lovely, home cooked and tasty. Our bedroom was comfortable and warm with underfloor heating in the bathroom. Best of all we got helpful tips on where to go to see the red squirrels and saw them after trying for 3 years! Thank you to all - we hope to be back in the spring.

Warm welcome, offered tea on arrival. Owners could not do enough to help make the stay as comfortable as possible. Views from the bedrooms and lounge were excellent. Location was good for most of the popular Lake District places including Keswick only a few minutes drive away. Walks without having to use the car. Good food and the hotel was fresh not tired as some hotels of this period are. Would have no hesitation to recommend to anyone.

As previous visitors, my wife thought that it would once again ideally suit our requirements for a 'big birthday' celebration as well as being able to enjoy some fell-walking . The new owners looked after us exceptionally well and it bodes well for the hotel's future in continuing to be one of our favourite venues. We will certainly be visiting again. Nothing in particular and were impressed by the new owners' intention to not standstill but continue to seek the very best standards.

The rooms where clean and comfotbale however being greeted by a large stain on the carpet by the front door is slightly off putting. The hosts seem amiable and are really helpful. Location for us was good as was the peace and quiet. Remarkable given the fact that the Hotel is on a main b road. We enjoyed our stay but if posed the question - would you stay their again and take any notice of what you stated on your webpage the answer would be NO. The first night's anticipation of a gourmet meal even photgraphs appear on you webpage. However the starter menu was good but remarkably I could not cut through a wild mushroom. It got worse as the main course of vension as the texture could only be described as rubbery and totally inedible. This was changed immediately but the main courses where poorly cooked. It was a dispointing aspect given the facts behind other guests opinons. May be where unluckly but we did feel that the overall costs of £135.00 per night did not meet our expectations. This was not the experince that both my wife and i expected from all the blurb. Even the photographs of the bedroom appeared dated against the actual.

The personal touches at the hotel, like the toiletries in the room were available to buy if desired. The canapes with the pre dinner drink . The chocolates with the coffee after dinner. The choices for breakfast including kippers. The staff were very friendly and we were asked several times if everything was ok. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable and the hotel had a really pleasant atmosphere. The lounge and bar area was very quiet- no background music - making most of the hostel guests talk in hushed tones otherwise your conversation could be heard by everyone. If there had been a little music in the background more people would have stayed in the lounge chatting but most guests including us went back to our room quite early to watch tv or listen to music so that we could have a normal conversation.

The staff and owners were very friendly, the room very comfortable, and the food excellent. The only thing I would say was that the dining room needs background music when there are not many guests, as it was embarrassing to speak to each other in the quietness.
