We picked the hotel for its location - within walking distance of our daughter's address and the university building where she was to graduate. One of the two young men on duty at the hotel reception on our arrival personally took us to our room in a building separate from the main hotel, which for us was very helpful - we would not easily have found our room otherwise. At breakfast the following morning the serving staff were very courteous and efficient - please thank all staff for their professionalism.

Its location - beside a busy road with the continuous, roaring sound of traffic. Although I viewed a map beforehand I did not realise how noisy the road would sound. Also, our room (522) was in direct line of sight of a church tower that was about 200 metres away - my wife was awoken on the hour every hour by the sound of the clock chiming. We live near a church but that does not chime the hour throughout the night. We had to have the windows open because it was so hot and there was no air conditioning, so we could not avoid the sounds of traffic and church clock. For that reason, although the room was comfortable and the staff very good, I would not recommend a stay at your hotel.

It was only one night

Nobody asked me if I was happy with my room. The room was grubby and the general decor shabby. I ordered a newspaper and it did not arrive. I booked two rooms and they were in different sections of the hotel and nobody warned me in advance. Inadequate ventilation. Windows that would not open. Lavatory that was in disgusting condition and smelly with evidently a longstanding flush problem that had not been attended to.

Pleasant helpful customer facing staff are the hotels strong point.The main building has lots of charm and charachter. Good location, convenient for University. Not far from town and free parking and internet. Reasonable choice of breakfast and nicely cooked and presented.

Housekeeping in the rooms is of an inconsistant standard but the hotel are in the process of addressing this. Hope they sort it out because it's otherwise a nice hotel .

Nice location and ideal surroundings

Yes-unfortunately we were unable to shower as no hot water despite leaving shower on for 5 minutes and trying each setting. Also we were unable to have a hotdrink as the kettle kept sparking and we were unable to disconnect plug from socket as it appearedto be "glued" into socket.

The first room we stayed in was very very comfortable, and the jacuzzi was superb!

I was well impressed with the receptionist noon Saturday 2nd /5/09. ..Very approperiate hotel for lone lady travellers.

No soundproofing between floors,

The hotel matched the price I paid for the accommodation. I use this site often to book Hotels throughout the UK and find that people expect to pay a very low price and expect five star standards. Get real and check your spelling ,if you're competent,before submitting opinions.

A clean toilet would be a bonus!!

Food was good

Bathroom was not very cleann needs updating. Lift got stuck on floor-staff aware of problem with lift but fail to do anything about it

Convenient location and a good price.

I like the fact that I had the option of room to choice and the room was really big and lovely toliet inside. Wow the bed was nice and lovely for couple and family. Really cheap for me .
