Convenience, comfort and staff friendliness.
Great location, bedroom very cosy, friendly proprietor, good food, character building.
Everything - nothing to dislike. Any negatives were part and parcel of the whole experience - like the low ceilings!
Nothing - it was a lovely place to stay.
What a lovely stay we had the location is great ten mins walk into centre, the hotel is clean and comfortable, the breakfast set you for the day ahead for shopping and sight seeing
Excellent location, Nice friendly and informative owners, Comfortable Room, Good WiFi
No heating en-suite bathroom, A little pricey.
Four poster bed, in a room with large bay window, overlooking the river Dee. Easy walk into City centre, (10mins). Friendly and helpful host, Great breakfast.
Great place to stay, fantastic location right in the centre but quiet at night! Best breakfast you could have, freshly cooked.
The bed we slept on was a little too hard.
A very warm welcome and a guided tour of the guesthouse facilities. A wonderful bedroom with four poster bed, beautiful furniture and a marvellous view of the river and weir. One of the most comfortable beds we have ever had the pleasure of sleeping in. Lovely breakfasts and only a couple of minutes walk into the city center. We would also recommend the meals in The Albion pub, just around the corner.
Freshly cooked, good quality breakfast with plenty of choices. Supply of fresh milk (in a fridge on the first floor landing), bottles of water (as well as the usual tea, coffee and milk in the room). Comfortable guest sitting room overlooking the River Dee and an attractive courtyard area at the back.
No heating in the bathroom (although a fan heater was supplied). Parking not guaranteed (only five designated parking places).
The lovely view, location and good breakfast
The owners run an excellent guest house, very warm and friendly. Excellent cooked breakfast is a bonus. We only stayed one night but wish it had been longer.
Can't think of anything.
Great location with parking and right in the centre of Chester.
There was nothing we didn't like
Warm welcome, lovely room. Enjoyed the fact that it felt like home. Lots of gold stars.
Good clean well equipped room with lovely views. The main building was lovely with nice friendly management and staff.
The building is very old and Has its own quirky features that results from this. The guest has to respect that from such a building and as such the bathroom was a bit cramped especially in the shower. So not really a negative.
Fantastic location overlooking the river and easy walking distance of the city centre. Beautiful period house and friendly hosts. Excellent choice for breakfast, well cooked and served quickly. Beautifully decorated room.
The four poster bed looks absolutely spectacular but was so uncomfortable. Every time either of us moved or turned over, the bed frame creaked and rattled and the mattress was very hard.
Lovely position on the city wall and close to the centre. Good breakfast and lovely staff.
Room was a little chilly for this time of year as there's no double glazing being a listed building. Bathroom was cold, Room was smaller than we expected from the pictures on the website but overall a nice stay.
We loved Chester and the Recorder House was excellent. We would certainly go again.
Brilliant location, excellent staff would go again love Chester.
Ideal location to all the shops, helpful hosts who do go that extra mile for their guests.
Splendid location in an old Georgian House on the Chester Wall with views over the River Dee ( if you are in a front room) and direct access to the Groves and promenades along the river. Only a 10 minute walk into the heart of the city centre.
Rather small accommodation.
Beautiful room, great breakfast, welcoming staff and a fantastic location. I was only here for one night and I wish I could have stayed longer! Would love to visit again!
A WONDERFUL CHOICE FOR A THREE NIGHT BREAK. GREAT LOCATION ON THE WALL AND BY THE RIVER. GENIAL HOSTS.
COULD ONLY STAY FOR A SHORT WHILE.
Very clean , quiet and within the city. A short walk to the center and next to the city walls. The room (4) was the quietest we have stayed in and I wish our own bed were as comfortable. Chester was well worth a visit.
