Warm welcome. The manageress excellent - suggested where to eat, got us a bigger kettle etc. Decent size room - had two babies and were given the bridal suite. Not too far from town. Easy to get to off the motorway. Nice gastropub not too far away.
Breakfast a bit plain. Check in and check out could be earlier and later, although they aren't too strict on check out time.
It was out of the way from the main house so didnt need to worry about noise. Was a large living area and bedrooms which easily fit 6 people.
There was a kitchen that we couldnt access, meant that we didnt even have use of the fridge or cutlery which would have been handy, especially if you were staying more than 1 night.
Great House, great position (near to Park and Ride) so didn't need car much. Lovely rooms and garden. Breakfast well done and especially liked the real fire in the breakfast room.
Having to pay extra for breakfast (£10 for continental and £20 for cooked each!) Rooms could be a little tatty in places, like shades in particular didn't seem to have been cleaned for a while. Overall a little expensive just for B&B but don't be put off by that - maybe we should have negotiated a little harder - it is a special place.
Very quiet, clean and friendly. A little away from the city but everything was less than 10 mins drive away. Staff were very friendly, £10 for a continental or £20 for a cooked breakfast is expensive but it was good quality food.
Beds were very soft and wifi was very poor in our room.
Good location to drive to. Park and Ride near if you need to go into city centre. Very comfortable suite in the annex part. Pleasant staff.
Motorway noise could be an issue in summer.
The house is old and decorated fairly lavishly with dark wood and heavy fabrics. The grounds seem vast and there were two black sheep and a horse outside.
The staff were unhelpful and rude. There is no landline or wi-fi in the room so if an emergency happened of any kind one is stranded. The breakfast was ok but served in tiny bowls we helped ourselves from. The room was FREEZING. When we tried to find the place and rang there was no reply a lot but when the owner replied he said 'jump in a taxi it is only £15 ' etc. When asked about buses he was very unclear and we found ourselves stranded in the dark and cold at the bus stop on the way there. Miraculously a woman who had been on the bus with us called over to us and offered us a lift there saying she had always wanted to see it. We thanked her a lot of course. There are no signs for reception and two buildings and empty fields around them so we walked to the house but Italian guests told us to go to the other house. We went and rang the owner who made no effort at all to meet us or tell us how to get ot reception. I honestly at this point thought that he must be somewhat mad and or just so old he did not know what he was doing. Eventually, frozen from wondering around the houses there in the dark, we met 'Roger' who looked down at us as if we were ruffians and told us in his very upper crust voice that he would take us to our room after we had paid, A long comical but disturbing conversation took place where I tried to ask the simple question about whether one could have orange juice with the cooked breakfast. He got annoyed and was not forthcoming about the contents of the breakfast all very odd but he showed me the menu eventually. It wasted so much of our time we opted for the continental option to save time. Our room was nice but cold. More than one towel had black marks on. The shower was nice. The owner would not help us get a cab in the morning despite my daughter being late for her University interview due to waitresses not bothering to call the cab. He seemed to take it personally that I politely asked for the number of the cab company.
Great place. Really conveniently located for visitng Cambridge. Gardens looked delightful and would love to visit in good weather! Breakfast was lovely - good quality foods provided.
Bed was a bit soft for my taste but it wouldn't stop me staying again.
Access to Park and Ride as parking in Cambridge is fraught! and expensive! Nice location with nice views. Nicely furnished and decorated. Very much enjoyed our stay here.
Cooked breakfast at £20 is pretty expensive. Watch out for low beam in Annexe room (s) my husband hit his head quite hard. The wrought iron gate opens to get inside but initially it looked as if it was not the entrance to the accommodation. A little disconcerting for us.
The avenue, ringing the doorbell , reception in the living room, been escorted to our room, the open fire at breakfast, the good was very good, the personal service.
The single duvet on the single bed was a little narrow as I have double duvet on single beds at home.
Just about everything. Beautiful house, annexe, and grounds, immaculately maintained, and furnished. Within a couple of miles of Cambridge itself. Staff were pleasant and helpful, gorgeous surroundings, several communal rooms. Huge double bed-no noise, easy parking.
We only had one hitch;- the door-lock on our room stopped working. It was not the problem it could have been- and staff apologised profusely (it could have happened anywhere). I'm sure it has been fixed, but we only had one night booked there.
Very pleasant greeting from owner. Made to feel welcome. Excellent breakfasts.
The elegance and comfort
The house, garden, conversion and surroundings.
The entrance to the property with very limited signage especially if arriving in the dark.
Excellent location and really good value accommodation which was very spacious and well equipped.pleasant and efficient staff and a good breakfast in a lovely room
arrived early just after 3 due to good traffic and as check in was 4 received a pretty indifferent welcome and had to go off for an hour. An offer to sit in the lounge would have been welcome and this was at odds with ambience when we actually checked in
The wonderful value for money
We could only spend 2 days there
The rooms were spacious and very clean accommodations were wonderful. The breakfast was fantastic!
It was very difficult to locate at night.
Accommodation perfectly situated for use of Park and Ride into City. After a day sightseeing, wonderful to return to the peace and comfort of Rectory Farm and it's lovely garden
It was typically British. Nice stuff. Clean and comfortable but small room (club room). Modern bathroom, hot water always working. Tea, coffee and some biscuits included. 15 minutes by bus to the center of Cambridge. Beautiful surroundings.
Hard to get there with a suitcase if you don't travel by car (there is no pavement). The hairdryer cannot be used in the bathroom and in the room there was no power socket near the mirror.
Cleanliness of the room, shower/bath option, size of bed and the ease of access when arriving late.
House with high standards overall
Very unstable wi-fi access
VERY COMFORTABLE FOOD EXCELLENT STAFF VERY HELPFUL
Quiet, secluded location at the end of a long drive. It makes you feel as though you are nobility going to visit friends. The Rectory Farm would make an ideal location from which to tour the area. Just a few minutes drive from the Park and Ride for Cambridge.
Did not stay long enough. would like to return again in summer.
The suite was fantastic. Taxi into centre of Cambridge was a tenner. Staff are great
I thought the main house was beautiful - I felt like I had gone back in time to the days of Jane Austen. We were able to get a lovely continental breakfast early. The shower was great. The room was pleasantly quiet.
We received a phone call to say that the room that we booked was in need of redecoration but was clean. When we turn up it was in need of redecoration but was fine and clean. It was also very large an extra bonus. well done Rectory Farm appreciated. Will stay here again.
Little difficult to find Rectory Farm entrance in the dark. No problem though.
